Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated an hour ago

QuestionAnswer
Hi! I am following up regarding my question posted about a year ago. I have MTHFR C677T AG and COMT V158M AG and H62H CT mutation and was on BHRT and your B Complex Plus, which started out good, but then made me feel bad. As you recommended, I used the pulse method and only took the B Complex Plus when I needed it for about a week before my monthly cycle began. I’ve been off BHRT for 7 months now and only a few mild symptoms have returned (mood swings, joint pain). Although you recommended I try the B Complex MF once I ran out, I’d like to try the Optimal Multivitamin, Optimal Electrolyte, ProBiota HistaminX, and Fish Oil. Is this an acceptable alternative when dealing with women’s hormones and MTHFR and COMT? Do you have any other recommendations instead? Thank you for your time!

As odd as it may sound, I think the best one to use would be Optimal Man. This supports healthy testosterone levels and many women are finding it very beneficial for them.*

Consider:

  • Optimal Man: 1-2 capsules after breakfast. Start with 1 capsule.
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule in the morning at least 30 minutes before food - so upon waking with the electrolyte is great.
  • Joint Nutrients: 1 capsule after breakfast and 1 after dinner

Keep me posted ;)

Hello Dr. Lynch, I’m 35 years old and have been struggling with migraines (with aura) and long covid issues for three years now, I’ve tried a lot but currently settled with taking bioavailable riboflavin, ubiquinol and chelated magnesium daily, then to keep my b vitamins balanced I take B complex plus once a week, do you think this is a good regimen? What would you add or change? Is once a week enough or should I take a B complex twice a week to balance taking the riboflavin everyday? Is this the best B complex to take for doing that? Thank you in advance.

To support a healthy brain post a viral infection, there a few things to consider beyond what you're taking now.

Consider:

  • Brain Nutrients: 1/2 a lozenge in the morning upon waking and possibly another 1/2 later in the day if needed
  • Optimal Focus: consider 1 to 2 capsules a day - 5 days on and 2 days off - and start with just 1 capsule. Low acetylcholine levels are associated with delayed healing and this supports healthy acetylcholine levels.*
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • measure your homocysteine levels with your doctor
  • Vitamin D3+K2: 1 capsule after dinner
  • sauna
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1-2 servings a day
  • look into over the counter nicotine patches - 7 mg. Put on your shoulder in the morning - and rotate locations. Do 1 week on and a few days off. Repeat.

Hi Dr. Lynch, My husband has been on your Homocysteine Nutrients 2 a day ( rec by his func doc) for about 6-7 months and his homocysteine came down form 13 to 10.8. He is compound heterozygous for C677, A1298C. His B12 also went from low 500s to 788 over this time. I was surprised it did not go up more with the high dose he is on. His doc said to keep taking the 2 a day of the Homocysteine Nutrients since he does not have any symptoms of too much B vitamins. Do you think this is too much to continue on? I see this B complex vitamin as well as some of your B vitamin options also help Homocysteine levels so I am wondering how do you choose the right one for someone? They have quite different dosing of the B12s. Thank you for any insight you can offer,

I agree with you. I want to see those numbers drop faster than they are.

I suspect your husband may need the lozenges of Methyl B12 with L Methylfolate. He may have low stomach acid and they lozenges may bypass that.

Consider:

  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1 lozenge in the morning upon waking.
  • Methyl B12 with Methylfolate Lozenge: 1 lozenge in the morning upon waking
  • Optimal Man: 2 capsules after a protein based breakfast to support foundational nutrition - a multi for men.
  • pause the Homocysteine Nutrients - get more broad nutrition from above and targeted. To finish the bottle, you could use 1 capsule of this and 1 capsule of Optimal Man - that way not overdoing it. Then when out, move up to 2 capsules of Optimal Man.
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Optimal Electrolyte: essential to hydrate - 1-2 servings a day.

Retest in a month or two.

Post-COVID homocysteine levels can be very elevated for some time. If he had this within the last 6 months to a year ago, he could be battling that.

Does this product have the methyl folate you mentioned not to take or cut back if it’s too much for a person?

You can take methylfolate if you need it. I'm not saying avoid methylfolate - I'm saying be careful.

If you need it, definitely take it.

You can take it daily, every other day, once a week - whatever you feel is appropriate for you.

If you react negatively to methylfolate or methylcobalamin, use the B Complex MF.

Hi Dr Lynch, thank you for your response to my original question below. I’ve been confused about Serotonin Nutrients actually because I have a double mutation/slow MAOA, which I believe is likely the culprit to the seasonal affective disorder (although this is the first time I’ve ever experienced SAD in my entire life at 40 yrs old). I have just began your Vitamin D3+K2, it arrived the other day! I worry that if I take the serotonin nutrients that will cause neurotransmitters to accumulate or hang out even longer leading to worse symptoms? Or would it help them? I read through the Q&A extensively but still unsure if that’s a good route for me to go or not. I did try the lithium orotate and it definitely heightened negative emotional feelings and symptoms in general. I do think I’m also dealing with histamine intolerance which is why I started the riboflavin. Before this winter (here in Alaska of all places) my energy has always been fantastic but I’ve not felt like myself in that way all winter. I’ve lived here on and off for a handful of years at a time over the span of a decade but have never experienced these feelings, I think hormones are also significantly to blame; just wanting my old self/energy/motivation back.

It's wise to know you're MAO enzyme is slower.

Keep in mind that while a genetic variation like this exists for you, there are many other factors which affect the enzymes function.

  • low carb diet
  • low vitamin D
  • high stress
  • low dopamine
  • infections
  • low estrogen

I'm glad you're taking the vitamin D - that's huge.

I do believe you should give the Serotonin Nutrients a go.

You may also open the capsule and put 1/2 of it into a bite of food.

The Lithium Orotate may be helpful as well as that works on serotonin pathways.

For histamine intolerance, consider HistaminX and take upon waking and before bed if needed.

The vitamin D will help with that.

Healthy energy I believe will be supported by Serotonin Nutrients.

You may also want to look into Testosterone Nutrients. Both men and women may use it. It could be a very significant change for you ;)

If I’m already taking your Riboflavin supplement (1 per day), will this give me too much?l riboflavin if I take both? Could I take both daily or should I switch to just this one once I’m out of the riboflavin? I have a single polymorphism of MTHFR, dealing with low energy,/likely seasonal affective disorder, and struggle to absorb nutrients per my precious functional practitioner.

You may alternate them or take them both at the same time. If it is 'too much' riboflavin, it is a water soluble nutrient so you will just pee it out.

You will notice that your pee is more bright yellow or slightly orange and that is due to the riboflavin.

A single MTHFR SNP is not commonly requiring so much riboflavin.

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is commonly associated with low vitamin D and low serotonin.

Consider supporting healthy serotonin levels with:*

  • Serotonin Nutrients: 1 capsule after breakfast
  • Vitamin D3+K2: 1 capsule after dinner

Hi there! I have the MTHFR A1298C (GG) and MTRR G66A (GG) genes and my doctor recommended that I take a B multivitamin. I tried the B Complex Plus but it made me feel very strange - paranoia, anxiety, and strange, pressure-like headaches. I assume this is due to overmethylation? Fortified cereals and breads also seem to make me crazy. In this case, should I supplement with something different? Appreciate your StrateGene reports. Very informative and helpful!

I'm helping out with answering some of the questions. Yes, the StrateGene reports are very helpful in directing a pathway for optimal health :).

It's important to note that we don't 'treat' our genes. Many people have genetic polymorphisms but do not express them. Your DNA is your blueprint, but functional or blood testing may be more helpful in determining whether they are actually expressing.

Your reaction to the B Complex Plus seems to indicate a reaction to methylated vitamins, and maybe methyl-trapping. This can produce the symptoms you are describing.

I suggest switching to B Complex MF instead.

Let us know you go.

I am wondering if someone could help me determine which product is best for me. Homozygous 1298C, High homocysteine levels and very low B levels. Would I go with B complex or Homoc. nutrients? I do not feel bad but do struggle with Graves disease. Thank you!

That's a great question.

I'd go with a more gentle approach but also more supportive from various angles.

  • Acetyl L Carnitine: this has shown to be supportive of healthy thyroid function in those with hyperthyroid.* Consider 1 to 2 capsules a day especially upon waking up and away from food.
  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1/2 to 1 lozenge upon waking in the morning to support healthy detoxification and a clear head - along with healthy homocysteine levels.* Without glutathione, homocysteine will stay high.
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 to 3 servings a day to support healthy hydration as needed in a hyperthyroid state which is dehydrating - plus also supports a healthy homocysteine level as the blood volume is more diluted so the concentration of homocysteine goes down to the relevant degree of hydration.*
  • Multivitamin Sensitive: this is a multivitamin without folate, B12 or iodine along with some others. It has a lot of B vitamins. Consider taking 2 capsules with breakfast. I find that folate and B12 may be too stimulating for you.
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner

I think this is the more gentle and non-stimulating option for you which also supports what you need.

Recheck your homocysteine in a month.

I have MTHFR C677T verified by genetic tests and have had many physical conditions as a result. My son and his son were born with aganglionic colons - both had whole colonectomies and resections - will they be able to absorb the methylated B's ? viz the ileum? or ?). Please also recommend other supplements that might be appropriate for their conditions. Now, after reading your book, I also take methylated B's - I wish I would have had the benefit of genetic testing in my youth. Thanks for your understandings on these conditions.... I appreciate having your book and am working to help them and myself with better health and abilities. Thanks, Nancy Mitchell

I'm helping out in answering some of the questions we are receiving :).

Dirty Genes is a great book and it's nice to hear that you are using it to help you and your family get healthier.

Wow. What a challenge for your son and grandson :(.

The good news is that most nutrients are absorbed in the jejunum (middle part of your small intestine). Vitamin C, D, K, magnesium, folate, and B12 are absorbed in the ileum (the last part of your small intestine).

Colonectomies involve the removal of parts of the large intestine.

Since your son and grandson still have their small intestinal tract intact, they should be able to absorb the B vitamins from B Complex Plus.

However, the colon (large intestine) is where your gut bacteria reside and where fermentation and short-chain fatty acid production take place. These functions will be compromised in some shape or form for them.

Some other suggestions include:

  • Probiota Bifidobacterium or ProBiota HistaminX if they have high histamine symptoms (check out Dirty DAO symptoms in Dirty Genes).
  • Gut Nutrients Powder: Use small amounts first to see how they go. Maybe 1/2 or 1/4 scoop per day.
  • Sodium butyrate: This is a short-chain fatty acid that reduces inflammation in the gut and feeds healthy gut bacteria.*

Remember to consult with their healthcare practitioners regarding supplementation.

All the best :)

I am wondering which vitamin B Complex I need with the MTHFR C677T gene mutation? Help please!

B Complex Plus contains methylated folate and vitamin B12 whereas B Complex MF and B Minus do not.

Most people take B Complex Plus unless they have a sensitivity to methyl nutrients (B Complex MF) or are taking a folate and B12 supplement separately (B Minus).

So, regardless of an MTHFR C677T SNP, it kind of depends.

Hope this helps.

Elizma Lambert (ElizmaLambert.com)

Dr Lynch, My mom has been feeling weak, short of breath, and no appetite for a few weeks. Blood work just showed that she had thalamesia. I guess that explains she always has very low mood, easily gets sick and even just a mild cold, she can take months to heal completely. I read that Thalamesia patients usually low in folate. I wonder whether the B complex plus will help her or she should do the folate instead. Thanks.

I'm helping out with answering some of the questions we are receiving.

Yep. Thalassemia would explain a lot of her symptoms.

Common deficiencies associated with thalassemia include vitamins A, C, D, selenium, and zinc.

see link here

Folate is also sometimes recommended as it helps red blood cells develop. One study showed that methylfolate was beneficial in 86% of patients with thalassemia minor.

See link here

I would recommend:

  • B Complex Plus: 1 capsule per day.
  • L-Methylfolate: 1 capsule per day.
  • Immune Intensive: Contains vitamins A, C, D, selenium, and zinc

All the best :).

Elizma Lambert (ElizmaLambert.com)

Hello, these were the recommendations below for post some genetic testing we did. I am wondering if this product (B-complex Plus) would be an appropriate B complex to cover the recommendations made? Would I need to add a methyl B-12 additional? Candidly, I prefer to keep is somewhat simple ass it is for a young adult who will struggle to take a ton of supplements. Looking for best place to start. Here is the summary of what was suggested, at least as it pertains to B's for genetic flags that came up methylation and mood. THANK YOU very much, Dr. Lynch. Appreciated your book! For MOOD balance: 1. Methylated B vitamins (B12, B2, B3, B6, Folate) For METHYLATION needs: 1. B vitamins including 5-MTHF (200-400mcg), Methyl-B12 (100mcg), vitamin B2, B3, and B6 (P5P).

Let's go with the Optimal Man as this supports all the above in one formulation.

Is it good for the mthfr double 677T ?

B Complex Plus will provide all the methylated B vitamins and folate needed to support healthy methylation and MTHFR 677T. So theoretically, yes.

However, you may have other dirty methylation genes that may affect how you respond to methylated nutrients.

It is often more complex than just considering single genes in isolation.

You can try the B Complex Plus, and if for whatever reason you don't do well on it, switch to B Complex MF instead.

To get a more complete picture you could consider testing for more than just MTHFR using the StrateGene genetic report, or do functional testing with the help of a practitioner to help determine whether MTHFR or other genes are 'acting' dirty.

I'm curious why b complex plus isn't suitable for pregnancy?

I see your point and I struggle with it on my side.

B Complex Plus is safe for pregnancy - for sure.

I think I will update the graphic stating this.

I keep confusing myself thinking that, while it is safe for pregnancy, I prefer those TTC, pregnant or breastfeeding to use one of our prenatal vitamins.

If using one of our prenatal vitamins, it is not needed to take an additional B complex or trace mineral as it will be too much.

Hey there.. I have the mthfr gene mutation a1298 and would like to purchase some products today, along with the dirty genes book but I'm getting a bit confused. Hopefully you can please advise :) I'm planning to purchase the ashwagandha, liver nutrients and optimal electrolyte. I would also like to purchase one or more of- B complex plus Multivitamin one mf Glutathione plus Homocysteine nutrients ..however not sure which one is best suited and if it is not advised to get all? (As I don't want to exceed whatever the daily recommended limit is, for certain ingredients that are the same) Looking forward to hearing your response and much appreciated!! Regards, Nadia Ruggieri

It's smart not to overdo it on supplements as too much can increase side effects - especially B vitamins as they are powerful when they are the right form and quality ingredients as ours are.

It's not recommended to supplement based on SNPs like MTHFR but rather need as in which symptoms are you wanting to improve?

Here's some things to consider:

  • Ashwagandha: well tolerated and supportive and take 1 as needed
  • Liver Nutrients: well tolerated and supportive at 1 capsule after dinner about 3 to 5 nights a week
  • Optimal Electrolyte: well tolerated and supportive at 1-3 servings a day and start with 1 serving upon waking in the morning - sip it over time.
  • Glutathione Plus lozenge: 1/2 to 1 lozenge upon waking in the morning to start your day and possibly another 1/2 to 1 later in the day around midday if needing more support
  • Multivitamin One MF: 1 capsule with a protein based breakfast say 3 times a week - not daily.
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule after dinner

This is a very supportive combination. Use them as needed

If you feel great in the morning, do not take the Multivitamin One MF.

First, im seeking how can i dose this for a 5 yr old (48lbs)? She is currently getting Thiamin .5mg 40%DV, Riboflavin .5mg 40%DV, Niacin 4.5mg 30%DV, b6 2.5mg 150%DV, Folate 200mcg 50%DV, b12 3.5mcg 150%DV, Biotin 90mcg 100%DV, Pan Acid 2.5mg 50%DV through her daily multivitamin. Secondly, i would like to incorporate this Vitamin B Complex into my regime (as needed) but i take a multivitamin with already some of these individual ingredients (currently thiamine 1.5mg 107% DV, riboflavin 1.7mg 106%DV , niacin 20mg 111%DV , B6 9mg 450%DV, folate 600mcg 100%DV, b12 3mcg 107%DV, biotin 160mcg 457%DV, Pantothenic Acid 7mcg 100%DV). I don't want to over due it. i've read taking Vit B may help with being a mosquito/bug deterrent -- i feel i am a bug magnet when outdoors. Any suggestions?

For your daughter, I'd consider:

  • Kids Multivitamin Chewable: 1/2 to 1 chewable with a protein based breakfast. This way she gets all her B vitamins in effective amounts along with trace minerals. You would stop the other multivitamin she is using.
  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1/4 to 1/2 a lozenge upon waking to support a healthy clear head and detoxification.*

For you:

  • If you're already taking a multivitamin, I don't think you should add a B complex to it. Perhaps your multivitamin is too weak or it's not a quality one (tablet form, not 3rd party tested, folic acid)
  • Consider Multivitamin One MF: 1 capsule with breakfast

From what I've researched, it appears to be a myth about B vitamins and mosquito deterrents.

Mosquitos are more attracted to people who:

  • expel more carbon dioxide (pregnant, obesity)
  • warmer (higher body temperature, warmer skin)
  • wearing darker clothing
  • exercising (increased body heat, increased carbon dioxide)
  • drink alcohol (increased body temperature, increase carbon dioxide)
  • skin odor and skin microbiome - https://www.cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092-8674(22)01253-3

Hi, Do you offer B Complex at lower doses? I prob have a 20% reduction i folate pathway, and take B Complex, but experience red rashes and small bumps on my checks, and suspect to big dose of B vitamins.
That red rash is due to the niacin - and it's called Niacin Flushing.

If you take the B Complex Plus with a meal - ideally breakfast containing protein - you will likely not experience the niacin flush.

A genetic reduction does not dictate how much B vitamins you need - it simply identifies how your genes are genetically wired.

The Multivitamin One contains B vitamins along with trace minerals - that may be better suited for you.

I recommend taking this with a protein-based breakfast every other day. Take this only on mornings where you feel tired, low mood and want to support healthy energy, focus and mood.*

Hi! I just recently found out I have the MTHFR mutation and was recommended by my FNP (who does my BHRT) to take your b complex plus. I felt great the first week, but am now dealing with my sleep schedule being off, fatigue, joint pain, sadness, and existential dread. I was looking at my genetic reports, and it shows that I also have the COMT genetic mutation, which is not recommended to take methyl b’s. Would it better for me to stop the methyl b complex and try the methyl free b complex? Or is there something else you recommend? Thank you!

Exactly.

You felt great initially followed by those side effects.

Very common.

Stop using the B Complex Plus for now.

You'll use the B Complex Plus on an as-needed basis.

Remember how you were feeling when you first started taking it? That's when you want to take it.

When you feel GOOD, you do NOT take it.

If anyone took B Complex Plus daily after their levels were restored at a healthy level, they, too, would get side effects.

Once you stop the B Complex Plus, those side effects of excess should go away pretty fast - within a day or two - especially if you go for a hike or do some exercise. Burn fuel in otherwords.

When you run out of the B Complex Plus, do switch to the B Complex MF.

You will still only use B Complex MF.

So many people over supplement and it puts a huge burden on our bodies.

Can you open these capsules and take in some mashed avocado or banana? I have trouble swallowing pills. Thanks!

Yes you may.

B vitamins do not taste good so be sure to down it fast and chase it with another bite of tasty food afterwards right away. ;)

Would this be helpful with fibromyalgia and energy levels? I'd consider Optimal Electrolyte.

Start with 1 serving first thing upon waking up in the morning to support healthy energy levels.* Low ATP and low creatine and low electrolytes are associated with fibromyalgia.

I'd also add 1 capsule of Serotonin Nutrients before bed. Low serotonin levels are associated with fibromyalgia. Serotonin Nutrients supports healthy serotonin levels.*

Start with these two supplements.

You'll be experiencing a smile ;)

My husband is 66 yrs old, 5' 7", weighs 135. He has type 2 diabetes controlled by meds. His Ferritin is over 400, his Homocysteine is 12, his triglycerides are over 200. Dr is not worried about his Ferritin or his Homocysteine. I am!! Dr wants him on statins, we refuse. My husband takes Vitamin D3 K2, CoQ10, Optimal Magnesium, Acetyl L Carnitine (just started that), Methyl B12 with L-Methylfolate (just started that) all Seeking Health...also takes Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vectomega, and a B complex. He's run out of his B complex so I am writing you for a suggestion on which B vitamin or complex to get for him....and any other suggestions you might have. My husband is very active, plays a lot of golf, hunts, etc. and generally feels very good! No high blood pressure, sleeps well. I'd love to keep him alive and healthy into old age!! Thank you for all you do, Dr. Lynch!! We appreciates your hard work and also that your supplements are very reasonably priced and ship free....and of course the quality. Thank you for helping me with this particular issue. Tami Cravatt

I recommend finishing all of those supplements that he is currently using.

Then he will stop them all except: Vectomega and Acetyl L Carnitine and Magnesium.

If he is not taking Alpha R Lipoic Acid, he needs to switch to that one. We stopped selling it -ugh. Try Life Extension. They may have it.

Then he will switch over to Optimal Man.

He will take 2 capsules with a protein based breakfast. Most days, this is all he will need.

On days he is hunting, traveling, or more active, take 2 capsules additionally with his protein based lunch.

Optimal Man contains essentially everything except the fish oil and the alpha R lipoic acid.

Make sure he STOPS everything else as he will be overloaded and stressed out.

I'd add in Gallbladder Nutrients - take 2 capsules before dinner - to support healthy bile production and bile flow. This is needed for healthy triglycerides and cholesterol levels.*

I'd also add in ProBiota HistaminX to support a healthy microbiome.* Take 1 capsule after dinner - every night.

For his iron, I'd get him to donate blood. Please schedule that. And find out why his serum ferritin is so high. Check to see if he has inflammation because inflammation can drive up serum ferritin. His doctor can order lipid peroxides or hsCRP to check for inflammation or a sed rate or all the above.

Metformin can increase histamine levels in the gut. It does this by blocking a histamine degrading enzyme called DAO.

If he is experiencing digestive issues like loose stools, consider Histamine Digest to support healthy histamine levels in the gut.* Take that with meals as he thinks necessary.

I am currently having my Testosterone Nutrients supplement made. It's awesome. I've been using it for a year. It won't be out for at least 6 months - but I'm letting you know it is something that he is going to want. He will take 4 capsules of it before bedtime. Just FYI for now. ;)

Hi Dr Lynch, I take your Multivitamin One and am looking for something to add due to Treatment Resistant Depression. I recently got an IV infusion that had lots of B vitamins and it made me feel a bit better. I am guessing because of that I need a supplement. Would the B Complex Plus be a good choice?

You picked a great candidate to support healthy mood.

That said, Multivitamin One already has a lot of B vitamins so I don't think you need more of that. I think broader support is needed.

I'd consider:

  • Brain Nutrients - 1 lozenge upon waking up in the morning
  • Optimal Electrolyte unflavored - 1 serving with filtered water upon waking in the morning
  • protein based breakfast with eggs, meat, fruit, honey - NOT carb heavy. Carbs are not friendly
  • add Dopamine Nutrients 1 capsule with breakfast.
  • you may want to use Serotonin Nutrients before bed.

This combination should be quite supportive of a healthy mood.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE HOMOCYSTEX nutrients and just taking your B Complex plus ? My son has 2 copies of the C677 mutation his homocysteine was at 19 . He is down to 7 now with the Homocyctex X plus which I know has a name change Can he transition to a regular B vitamin now ? I understand the only way to monitor his levels are thru blood work ! ?

Well done! That's impressive.

What I'd recommend is a multivitamin vs a B Complex.

Consider Optimal Man - 2 capsules with breakfast and, if needing more healthy energy in the afternoon at lunch time, take another 2 capsules.

This way he is getting the full B complex, trace minerals and specialty nutrients as well - all in one.

Hi I would like to know if folinic acid can help me with sun allergy ? can I also buy B complex plus for energy . I have high blood pressure and I had leg blood clot 11 years ago.

I have a more suitable recommendation for you.

Homocysteine Nutrients: take 1 capsule with breakfast or lunch

Optimal Electrolyte unflavored: drink anytime of day.

Glutathione Plus lozenge: take 1/2 to 1 lozenge immediately upon waking up in the morning. If head gets foggy again later in the day, take another 1/2 to 1 lozenge. Do not take within 5 hours of bedtime.

If experiencing stressful situations, consider Stress Nutrients with breakfast.

Probiota Histaminx: take 1 capsule after dinner.

Start here.

Dr. Ben, I've had some success using EnbraceHR (Enlyte) for my 14 year old son, who struggles with ADHD and mood dysregulation. (I have MTHFR myself so suspect he does too). I feel it has helped his mood tremendously (tho not his focus). I would love to find a Seeking Health product (or combination thereof) that is comparable, if available. Would this fit the bill? Thank you.

I am familiar with Enlyte and never recommended it because it contained folic acid.

I see now they changed their label saying 'Dihydrofolate' and I don't see folic acid on there anymore.

That makes me wonder if they simply renamed 'folic acid' to 'dihydrofolate'?

Dihydrofolate, as far as I know, is not available over the counter or anywhere.

Makes me think they are hiding the fact they are using folic acid.

Please ask them directly.

For your son, I would consider stacking:

  1. Dopamine Nutrients: 1 capsule with a protein based breakfast
  2. Optimal Focus: 1 capsule with protein based breakfast

He could also use the Kids Multivitamin Chewable x 1/2 to 1 chewable with his protein-based breakfast.

Start each one of these on their own. See how he feels with each one by itself before stacking.

Dr. Lynch
