B Minus Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated 4 hours ago

QuestionAnswer
For those of us who have trouble swallowing pills, are we able to open them?

Hi Paola -

Yes you may open the capsule and sprinkle the contents into a bite of food.

B vitamins don't taste good so chase it with something.

A tip on swallowing pills:

  • take a sip of water
  • put the capsule in your mouth
  • tilt your head forward by about 30 degrees
  • swallow

That helps open up your throat compared to putting your head back.

Hi there! Long time Seeking Health, Strategene, and Dirty Genes customer. I recently purchased and tried the Seeking Health B-Minus and reacted poorly to it (made me angry, anxious, depressed, and possibly gave me a slight runny nose but that could be unrelated). I specifically purchased the B-Minus to correct low levels of B’s showing on blood work and because I’ve had similar negative reactions to methylated B complexes and methylb12. I am trying to understand what in the B-Minus might have caused this reaction and how to go about supplementing B’s to avoid it happening again? Any expert advice greatly appreciated! Here’s some background on me if that helps: Slow MAO +/+ Slow COMT +/+ Hetero MTHFR C677T +/- Homo MTRR A66G +/+ Hetero CBS C699T +/- High Plasma Histamine Homocyestine of 6 Flotate Mid Range (despite diet low in greens) B12 above Mid Range (diet high in meat and eggs) B1, B3, B5 bottom of range. B2 flagged deficient High Urinary Histamine High Urinary Dopamine High Urinary Epinephrine Low End Urinary Serotonin Negative reactions to Tryptophan, Tyrosine & Methylated B Comlex Thanks so much! James

Thank you for being a long time customer ;)

B vitamin complexes can be irritating for folks with high histamine, low serotonin and high dopamine - and you have all three ;)

The B's you're deficient in are needed for the histamine and dopamine metabolism.

Consider:

  • Histamine Nutrients: take 2 capsules any time of day or night - taking before bed is supportive of healthy onset of sleep.* Taking during the day supports a healthy mood and healthy histamine levels.* This has a fair bit of B vitamins in it so it acts like your B complex but also supporting healthy histamine.*
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • pause your B Minus supplement for now.
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 to 2 servings a day

That should help many of your levels.

Keep me posted.

In regards to the b minus product, are the high level of vitamins safe for long term daily use? Is it possible for them to cause constipation? Thanks
The vitamins are safe for long term use as they are water soluble.

I do not recommend using B Minus on a daily basis. I hardly recommend any supplement to be used on a daily basis.

Constipation may occur in some people especially if they are not hydrated.

Consider drinking 1 to 3 servings of Optimal Electrolyte most days. Fish oil and electrolytes are one of the few supplements I recommend on a daily schedule.

I suggest people follow the Pulse Method when supplementing:

MTHFR compound hetero and had found Dr Lynch’s video recommending methylated B vitamins and B minus. Have bought B minus, Hydro B12/folenic acid, NAC and adrenal cortex. Several days now after taking them Im exhausted. Have tried various combinations and every time end up having to take multiple naps throughout the day. Have taken with breakfast, and at lunch time, both times resulting in strong drowsiness. Homosistene is 6.5, and several elevated 24hr cortisol results, highest of which was in the 80s. Am animal based, clean, whole foods based diet. At a loss for what is specifically causing this exhausted feeling. Mmm...I suggest you stop all the supplements and introduce them one at a time in order to identify which supplement(s) may be causing your drowsiness. Start with the lowest possible dose.

Once you have identified the culprit(s) we may be able to offer a possible explanation for your unusual reaction.

Hi, just want to ask what causes irritability when I take a B-Minus capsule despite it not having B9 and B12? I'm guessing it's Thiamine? If so what I can I do to control this irritability from this supplement? Thank B vitamins support many enzymes in the body.

It's difficult to say what it's doing to cause irritability.

That said, I'd use it less frequently.

Thiamine is usually quite helpful. It may be because it is supporting phase 1 detoxification and you have a slow phase 2 detoxification and slow phase 3.

Consider using B Minus once to twice a week with a protein based breakfast only on mornings when you feel quite tired.

Do NOT take B Minus when you wake rested, energized and in a good mood.

I suspect you may benefit from taking Calcium-D-Glucarate to help with phase 2 and phase 3 of detoxification.

You would take 1 capsule of this after dinner once a week.

You will notice healthy bowel movements from taking Calcium-D-Glucarate and perhaps 'lighter' feeling.

If you notice that your bowel movements are getting too loose, then skip until your bowel movements are becoming more difficult to pass, floating or not having one or two bowel movements a day.

Hello, I'm looking for a B complex supplement for my 7 year old daughter that doesn't contain folate/B12 and this is the only one I can find. (I already have an appropriate folinic acid /B12 supplement for her, but she needs the other B's). Would this supplement/dosage work for her? Be too much for her? If this won't work, do you have any other suggestions to get in the other B vitamins??? Thanks so much in advance. She can use B Minus. You would open the capsule and put 1/4 a capsule in a bite of organic applesauce.

Hello, I just received my first bottle of B Minus and took my first dose this morning after breakfast. About 10am a headache started. By the evening, it was horrific and I broke down and took 4 ibuprofen, which only took the edge off. I thought I’d be ok to start with this product since it doesn’t have folate/B12 (I’m homozygous MTHFR). Based on reviews, I’m wondering if the niacin was too much for me. Is that probably the case? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! I’m thinking about opening the capsule and trying a lower dose, but honestly afraid of another debilitating headache. Thanks in advance!!

That's unfortunate.

I'm curious what other supplements you are taking.

If taking a multivitamin or additional B vitamins, it's too much.

I suspect you 'woke' up some enzymes that may have been 'sleeping' and over stimulated them.

Niacin typically supports blood flow vs hinders it.

I'm wondering if you're deficient in magnesium or electrolytes or glutathione.

It's not common people experience headaches from this.

Something else needs adjusting.

If you're drinking caffeine in the morning, perhaps skip it when taking B Minus as maybe that's enough for you.

Hello, I'm hoping for some clarity. I feel concerned about the amount of niacin being above the recommended UL of 35mg. I dont want any side effects with the flushing. I also have read that higher niacin can in turn promote cardiovascular problems. Can you please explain why this product contains 50mg and B complex plus has 95mg and the benefit vs risk please? It takes grams of niacin over an extended period of time to experience liver issues. The liver issues are caused by reduced methylation status.

If one needs more methylation support, they simply would discontinue use of B Minus and add in B Complex Plus.

B Complex Plus has the added choline, folate and B12 which supports methylation.

To minimize or eliminate the possibility of niacin flushing, simply take B Minus or B Complex Plus with a meal.

B Minus and B Complex Plus has supported people all over the world for years in their current formulations.

Can I take this with optimal prenatal, or will this be to much of the good cake? And can you take this while breastfeeding? I've read that Ben lynch don't recommend to much of b vitamins, nut sure why but if Ben says something about health I'm listening :D That's too much ;)

If you're waking up very tired in the morning, then you may want to consider 1/4 to 1/2 a lozenge of Brain Nutrients to get your day started.

If you find yourself waking up to pee, waking up way too early than your alarm clock is set to or you wake up absolutely buggered, then consider taking Adrenal Cortex with a protein based breakfast.

Only take the Adrenal Cortex in the morning with breakfast WHEN you are really tired and want to support healthy energy- and when Brain Nutrients doesn't give you what you need.*

Do start your day with a little Brain Nutrients. I think that's what you're looking for - and use 1/4 to 1/2 lozenge at first. It works quickly and it's potent.

Does this have calcium in it?
B Minus does not contain calcium as an active ingredient.

I does contain Vitamin B5 as calcium pantothenate.

All ingredients may be seen in the 'Supplement Facts' area on the website.

Additionally, we include a full product ingredients label in the product images area.
