What is the difference between Deplin and Seeking Health's methylfolate?Updated 3 months ago

Deplin is an FDA approved drug that contains high dose L-methylfolate from Metafolin®.  Doses of Deplin are generally 7.5 mg and 15 mg doses. Keep in mind this is milligrams, not micrograms.

Seeking Health methylfolate products are dietary supplements, and are not approved by the FDA for use as treatment for any condition or disease, nor are they classified as drugs. Seeking Health L-5-MTHF lozenges and capsules contain methylfolate in the form of L-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (from the company, Quatrefolic) in the amount of 1 mg (1000 mcg). This type of methylfolate from Quatrefolic is known as a superior form of folate in terms of bioavailability in the body.*

Dr Lynch believes that 1000 mcg is an adequate dose for those who wish to support their methylation processes, homocysteine conversion, cognitive health and overall folate levels in the body. Always speak with your doctor prior to considering the use of these products, or any dietary supplement. *
