What is "elemental" amounts of a mineral?Updated 4 months ago

FDA regulations require that all supplements containing minerals list the elemental amount only of a mineral; this means the actual amount of the mineral, not any of the fillers, preservatives, sweeteners, or chelating agent.

For example, in our Magnesium Malate powder, the label lists 500 mg of magnesium (as magnesium malate). There is 500 mg of actual elemental magnesium per scoop. The rest of the powder in each scoop is malic acid.
