I have become pretty efficient at making yogurt with specific strains of probiotics as revealed in Super Gut by Dr William Davis. As an undermethylator, I am being helped immensely by the SIBO combination of probiotics, but it definitely is raising my levels of histamine and I am suffering from it, but I have been controlling as much as possible by taking DAO in Histamine Block. I realize I need to heal my gut so that the histamine levels will eventually lessen as my body heals. I would really like to ferment the specific probiotic you have available into a yogurt, but not sure what temperature to set my yogurt maker at! I thought perhaps those specific probiotics might combat the issues with raised histamine levels. Any help would be greatly appreciated. | Hi Connie - Well - I'm wondering if you simply reduce how much yogurt you're taking in now may be the answer vs using these strains. It sounds like they have helped you a lot. What people don't realize is there are often phases of healing. You may have needed these strains of probiotics for a period of time - they helped you - and now you need to stop using it. I'd first just stop eating yogurt and seeing how you do. Additionally, consider supporting a healthy gallbladder and bile because these are key for healthy bacterial levels in the small intestine and healthy histamine levels - and digesting fat from yogurt:
Start here. I think this is a good solid plan. In health, |
Hey there. I would like to take the probiota bifidbacterium. I am currently taking anti-microbials at mealtimes. Would I be ok to take probiota bifidbacterium on an empty stomach? | Hi James - Yes that's fine. It usually isn't fine - but we use acid-resistant capsules so the capsule will protect the probiotics as it goes through the stomach. I'd take them before bed. Additionally, when taking anti-microbials, one typically experiences die-off and brain fog. To help with that, consider:

Which probiotic and dose do you recommend for 56 yo female, hypertension, hypothyroidism, constipation? Do you recommend the same one for 14 yo boy who does not eat vegetables and does not have a good diet? | Hi Lisa - Consider ProBiota Woman for the female -take 1 capsule after dinner. For the teenage boy, consider ProBiota Bifidobacterium - 1 capsule after dinner. Additionally, for the woman, consider:

I took ProBiota HistaminX. I don't think it's working or for me. I have constipation , slow DAO, Candida and MCAS. Is ProBiota Bifidobacterium a better option for constipation? I am taking saccharomyces boulardii 2X after dinner. | Hi Becca - Let's pause the probiotic for now. I do believe it will support you later it's just the wrong timing. Consider:

Hi Dr. Lynch, I am only taking the probiotics for two day (not even a full capsule, maybe 1/4), but whenever I take it, I get allergic symptoms (face/eye swelling, fatigue, shortness of breath, rashes on face in morning). I have become very sensitive to all the probiotics and unfortunately this one got me the reaction too. I took this one to resolve constipation and really wanted to take this, because I think my histamine intolerance is caused by gut imbalance. In this case, how can I proceed? Do I need to push through? I am not sure if those side effects are just allergic histamine reaction or die off. | Hi Min - I do not recommend pushing through. Put this in your fridge for now. Then consider:
Start here. Report back what's improved and what's remaining. In health, |
Thank you Dr Lynch. I ordered everything you recommended. Should we consider gall bladder nutrients considering the low acid aspect? | Hi Lisha - Yes. Gallbladder Nutrients has some Betaine HCL in it to support healthy stomach acid levels.* Additional stomach acid support may be needed - such as:
You can dilute those in some warm water prior to eating a meal. Then SIP it. Once a sensation of warmth is felt, then stop. In health, |
Hello Dr Lynch: Our mom is 85 year old has hypertension, glucoma, hypothyroidism, acid reflux, osteoporosis and arthritis. She has candida overgrowth that came back in GI map and has fungal overgrowth in her tongue. What would be the best products for her age? She also deals with chronic constipation. Thank you for your help with this. | Hi Lisha - Good on you for helping her out. Here are some things to consider. I'm trying to keep it simple.
I suspect she is low in stomach acid and low in digestive enzymes which is contributing to her conditions. This is why I'm recommending the digestive enzymes but she needs also to consider drinking lemon juice warm water in the morning. The yeast will keep coming back until her digestion is back. Hello: I had been dealing with histamine intolerance for about 3 years. Things have much improved since taking 3 capsules of Probiota Histaminx daily for about 2 months. Is it worth it for me to switch to Probiota Bifidobacterium or take them together? What is your recommendation? | Hi Ken - Fantastic to hear that the ProBiota HistaminX have helped you with your histamine intolerance :). You can take both the ProBiota HistaminX and Probiota Bifidobacterium together. However, ProBiota HistaminX already contains a number of Bifido species so it may not be necessary. I'd suggest rather adding Histamine Digest with meals. I would also suggest working with a healthcare practitioner to find out what may be causing your histamine intolerance. It sounds like you may have some gut dysbiosis or SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) that needs to be addressed. If this is the case then you may need some gallbladder support such as Gallbladder Nutrients or Ox Bile. Let us know how you go :). Regards, |
Dear Dr. Lynch, I was recently diagnosed with Hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome a connective tissue disorder at John Hopkins. I was also diagnosed with It includes POTS, Cerebral/cervical/back pain (which I have been doing prolotherapy for and its incredible!). I did the genetic test and have hetero MTHFR. Additionally, because my body is so achy body and painful in my joints, I choose to not drink any alcohol, caffeine, or eat gluten, and have been going lactose free. I have asthma, eczema, bad allergies etc. since I was a little girl. I have had prolotherapy to most of my joints except a few. I am taking the glutathione liposomal at breakfast along with electrolytes and prenatal chewable for extra folate and extra connective tissue support(thoughts?). I add a half of glutathione lozenge at lunch during the teaching year. I was diagnosed with SIBO a week and a half ago and have been on an antibiotic since and have 4 more days. I eat very clean and healthy. Dietician is helping me with FODMAP & guided me to use the use Monash FODMAP app. I eat Hardly any fried or fast food. Eggs/tuna/chicken, Protein smoothie w/ kale/low fodmap fruits every morning, salad at lunch, healthy dinner. my cardiologist advised me to add salt for the POTs add in Midodrine for my low blood pressure, and use your electrolyte mix. I use your Magnesium Glycinate powder to help me with sleep issues and helping my body restore and recover better at night. (I try to take Epson salt baths as your book advised.) What do you advise that I take for my SIBO? 1st 2 weeks while taking diclofenac antibiotic? 3rd & 4th week? Any suggestions I am open to. Thank you. I definitely have the malabsorption, inability to absorb fat, etc. (Do I still continue to take the glutathione liposomal and prenatal chewable while on antibiotic, etc.?) After reading your articles and book, I have this in my arsenal that I ordered from S.H.: probiotic, Gallbladder, NAC, Histamine Digest, Gut Nutrients, Zinc Carnosine. Anything I am missing? :) I need an Order of application of supplementation please as well as can you help me with what I add in in a 2-4 weeks for phase 2 or re-introduction? Thanks for any help. I am 117 and was 130 last year. Definitely loosing weight. Fit, active, doing PT, but get sick very easily. I had COVID last march and was put on 2 antibiotics in April. I believe I need to rebuild my gut health and fix the SIBO & leaky gut but need you help and advise. Thank you for your expertise! So grateful for your book, company, and heart! Elizabeth | Hi Elizabeth - Prolotherapy is indeed amazing. My oldest son just had it done to his hypermobile shoulder joints. Consider the following:
Start here. Use the Prenatal Chewable as needed with breakfast. You may do best with this a few days a week. In health, |
Hi Ben, I've taken one capsule of Bifido daily for 45 days and am wondering it might be causing a detox reaction, or, if my body has enough and I need to stop. I'm taking FOS before my evening meal and a Bifido after. I have a double variant of the FUT2 gene (any plans to start educating on this gene?) and I'm getting mild bloating, plus a white coating on my tongue which usually indicates detox for me. Can it get to a point where your body has enough Bifido? I don't want to pause it if it's killing the bad guys but having suffered bad bloating in the past, I'd rather stop if that's the best option. I have paused it a few times and the bloating went down but it's so hard to tell with all the variables if I'm onto the right cause or not. Thank you, Helen | Hi Helen - I hear you. I'd stop the FOS and the probiotic for now. Try stopping for a week and then reintroduce JUST the probiotic a few nights a week. FUT2 is a tricky one. I thought I had an ingredient to support it but I'm not finding good success. This ingredient is called 2'FL. I'd try 2'FL and see how you do as that is supposed to support those who are non secretors of FUT2. In health, |
Hi there my kiddo (1.5 mo old) was born via c-section. I was looking into probiotics to help support his gut and looking at the bifido but wanted to see if there was something recommended? | Hi Sarah - This is a good choice. Open the capsule and empty 1/2 the capsule onto your dry clean finger and give it to him this way. In health, |
Hello Dr Lynch, I have leaky gut, histamine issues, fatigue, candida/bacterial overgrowth. I am currently taking boulardii and lactobacillus various strains 50B and probiota histamine x (1 capsule), would probiota bifdo help with histamine issues and should I take lactobaciilus out? Do you have any supplement to detox on candida? | Hi Lisha - I'd consider:

Hi Dr Lynch, Would you please advise what the maximum recommended dose of this would be per day for a 12-year old to assist during gastro-intestinal virus / bacteria recovery? Many thanks. | Hi Jane - I'd do 1 capsule after dinner along with 1 capsule of Saccharomyces Boulardii. It's often best to expand the 'reach' of probiotics vs a narrow one that's higher dose. I'd also consider 1 capsule of Optimal GI before bed and 1 capsule upon rising to support healthy restoration of his stomach and intestinal lining. In health, |
Hello. 1. How do you know that these bacteria actually reach the colon, are acid-resistant and actually work? 2. You say you haven’t conducted any human studies — okay. But have you done any other studies and research to show the bacteria survive and reach the colon? And are these bacteria even alive? 3. Have you got any data from customers who have done stool tests before and after to show it worked for them? 4. Is your products made in a GMP-facility and is it third party tested? | Hi H - Great question. The capsules are designed and tested to be acid-resistant so they are. The bacteria are alive yes once they become hydrated in the gut they wake up and consume food. We also store our probiotics in high quality CSP vials which protect the probiotics from heat and moisture - which is why we don't need to ship with ice packs. Our probiotics are very effective as you can tell by our reviews. All our products are 3rd party tested, and stability tested, and have overages to meet label claim and we are GMP certified ourselves and also work with high quality manufacturers. We actually have extensive checklists for quality standards they must meet before we even contract with them. If they don't perform for you, ask for a refund. In health, |
Hello, my question is about B complex MF. I have ordered these as I don't seem to get on well with Methylated vits, I have double slow comt and MAOA but good MTHFR? I have tried Niacin many times, in the form of Niacinimide and even at 50mg it leaves me with fatigue - any ideas why this might be? and as your B complex has a different form of B3 will I be able to tolerate it better? Thankyou for your help. | Hi Gail - I am not sure why B3 makes you tired. I'd start with hydration and glutathione support first before adding in the B Complex MF. B vitamins really push many biochemical pathways and if you're dehydrated and low in glutathione, side effects may occur. We don't want that. Consider taking 1/2 lozenge of Glutathione Plus Lozenge in the morning upon waking. Then, consider 1/2 a scoop of Optimal Electrolyte after the glutathione. Sip it over time. Do not chug it. Before dinner, I'd add in 2 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients as this supports a slow COMT via supporting healthy bile flow and bile production.* These are often compromised in those with slow COMT. Before bed, I'd add in Optimal Magnesium to support a slow COMT and a healthy sleep.* If you're experiencing mental stress, consider taking 3 capsules of Stress Nutrients with breakfast - and only do this on the days where you feel you need support.* Those of us with a slow COMT and slow MAOA need additional support for mental stress more often than others. Use the B Complex MF after you have introduced these above. Introduce one of these supplements one at a time every two days so you know how you feel from each one by itself. You should only feel good. Only take the supplements when you need to and skip when you don't. You don't take them when you feel great. Take them when you need support only. You may need them every day for a couple weeks or so - but then you may find yourself feeling so much better one morning. Then skip or reduce the amount you are taking. In health, |
Thank you so much for your advice! I will shop for those. I have realized this morning that niacin - non flush but flush also is raising histamine and estrogen for me. I am 53 and menopausal. Should I stop it or is there an antidote? I take methyl folate . Thank you | Hi Gail - Niacin in high amounts can do that - but niacin is lower amounts I don't think are an issue. High dose niacin - meaning 500 mg or more, can deplete methyl donors. If one is deficient in methyl donors, then estrogens can climb and so can histamine. In health, |
Can you tell me which probiotic is best for me? I have become intolerant to some dairy and alcohol so think I may have some histamine issues! My diet is good, lower carb , no sugar. Thank you! | Hi Gail - That's common. I'm intolerant to those as well and it may be just not good for you. That said, let's get you some support and see what we can do. ProBiota HistaminX taken after dinner is my go to recommendation to support healthy histamine levels.* I'd also take 2 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients before dinner to support healthy bile production and bile flow.* This is very commonly needed by the body especially in women over 40 years old. Alcohol and dairy put further demands on bile so this is a solid recommendation. In the morning, I'd take 1/2 to 1 lozenge of Brain Nutrients upon waking up after drinking alcohol. This is very supportive of a healthy brain and cognition which are negatively impacted by alcohol.* Before eating foods that don't make you feel the best or drinking alcohol, consider Histamine Digest. This combination should really help a lot. If you feel you need further support, our Digestive Enzymes capsules may be supportive if you are experiencing gas and bloating after meals.* In health, |
Several years ago, my doctor prescribed Seeking Health Lactobacillus rhamnosus to help improve an itchy, skin rash. It was very helpful. I understand that Seeking Health no longer carries Lactobacillus rhamnosus. I'm experiencing skin rashes again (Rosacea on my face and eczema on my hands). My doctor retired and my new doctor prescribed a probiotic with Lactobacillus rhamnosus but it also has Lactobacillus casei which I'd like to avoid according to Dr. Lynch's advice. I am currently taking Seeking Health ProBiota HistaminX which does not have Lactobacillus rhamnosus in it. I haven't seen much improvement in my skin but I haven't been taking the ProBiota HistaminX for very long. I would also like to take Lactobacillus rhamnosus again but it's hard for find on its own. What would you suggest? Can you recommend a brand of Lactobacillus rhamnosus? | Hi Wendy - That's good information. Thank you for sharing. I trust Life Extension, Xymogen and maybe Thorne (they got bought out so I don't know if still good). I will review L. rhamnosus again - and may include it in a new formulation. I also recommend you consider Gallbladder Nutrients. Take 2 capsules before dinner. Healthy bile production and flow is needed for healthy skin.* In health, |
Would this be safe to give to a 34 pound, almost 3 year old? If I break up the capsule? Trying to do what I can from home to help his chronic histamine / food allergy responses. He has hard-to-track immune responses to a wide range of foods because our safe foods seem to change and I’m wondering how to support microbiome for toddler. Can’t get into gastro dr despite a referral. Thanks for any info! (He also has taken the infant probiotic version in the past) | Hi Katie - I would consider opening the capsule of Histamine Digest and taking with a bite of food during meals. I would also consider opening a capsule of Histamine Nutrients and putting in a bite of food any time of day or night. ProBiota HistaminX I would give him the entire capsule after dinner. Ask my team for a referral list for doctors. I would also consider buying an Alen Air Filter, stopping all gluten and cow dairy products, use goat milk, goat cheese and goat yogurt, buy a new pillow with dust mite covers. Glutathione Plus Lozenges, 1/4 a lozenge upon waking, would be a great addition for him as well. He can take this amount a couple times a day. In health, |
I want to make my soy milk in an instant pot. Will this all Bifido work without the other strains? I've tried several probiotics & it does not set. The probiotic I used before that always work is no longer sold. | Hi Diane - I am not sure. I know bacteria do not like heat - it kills them. If you use this, use a lower heat setting. In health, |
