Ox Bile Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated 16 hours ago

Question
Answer
Is this safe to take if a person has nafld? I dont have a gallbladder and was diagnosed with nafld.

Hi Shaun -

Yes it is safe for you to take but it's not what I suggest you consider for what you're trying to support.

Consider:

  • Bile Nutrients: 2 capsules before dinner
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Liver Nutrients: 1 capsule after dinner

Fatty liver is caused by a few things and a big one is not being able to export fats out of the liver.

Supporting the healthy export of fats from the liver is needed. The supplements above support a healthy liver.*

Additionally:

  • go for a brisk walk after each meal especially dinner
  • limit carbs
  • if having carb cravings, consider adding Serotonin Nutrients to support healthy food cravings.* Take 1 capsule in the morning.
  • limit snacking and have 3 meals a day.

Hi! I'm wondering if the Ox Bile can help with bile acid diarrhea? (I still have a gallbladder. And suspected SIBO) Thank you :)

Hi J -

I wouldn't use Ox Bile in this situation.

Instead, you could support healthy gallbladder function with healthy bile production and flow by using Bile Nutrients.*

Consider:

  • Gut Nutrients: 3 capsules upon waking and 3 capsules before bed
  • Saccharomyces Boulardii: 1 capsule upon waking
  • Bile Nutrients: 2-4 capsules before dinner

I’m having gallbladder issues due to estrogen dominance. Would Ox bile help? I am having pretty nasty reflux and think it might be due to histamine too? I have tried your gallbladder nutrients but unfortunately it contains glycine and I am hypersensitive to it - causes insomnia and water retention. Thinking I should start taking digestive enzymes, ox bile, vit d with k2 and then one of your histamine products but not sure which? Could you let me know if this would be beneficial?

Hi Dee -

I hear you and thank you for sharing about the glycine sensitivity.

I need to figure that one out.

Consider:

  • Digestive Enzymes: 2 capsules with each meal
  • Histamine Digest: 1 capsule with each meal
  • Ox Bile: 1 capsule especially with fatty meals otherwise the Digestive Enzymes should be sufficient
  • DIM+I3C: 1 capsule after dinner to support healthy estrogen levels
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule after dinner to support a healthy histamine level in your microbiome.*
  • Vitamin D3+K2: 1 capsule after dinner

Hi I am having sulfur issues can you tell me if the ox bile supplement is contributing to that? Thank you . Also possibly high Uric acid gout issues. Camie

Hi Camie -

Ox Bile I would not think is contributing to sulfur issues.

It may be contributing to potential die-off reactions as ox bile is unfavorable to many microbes.

Consider:

  • Molybdenum: supports healthy sulfur metabolism.* Take 1 capsule after dinner.
  • Bile Nutrients: 2-4 capsules before dinner to support healthy bile production and bile flow naturally which supports a healthy microbiome.*
  • Glutathione Plus Lozenges: 1/2 to 1 lozenge in the morning upon waking to support healthy uric acid levels.* Uric acid tends to go up when glutathione levels are low.
  • Optimal Electrolyte: hydration is key. Consider 2 servings a day of this.

Hi, Can I take Ox bile 125 if I have gallstones? Thank you

Hi Florentina

Yes you may.

Take Ox Bile with meals.

I also recommend you also consider:

  • reduce your intake of fatty foods and drinks
  • reduce the ingestion of oils, nuts, seeds
  • eat lean meat
  • avoid dairy as it’s very fatty

Most gallstones are cholesterol based. By improving healthy cholesterol levels you may support healthy bike flow.

Additionally, consider:

  • Optimal PC: take 1 after dinner.
  • Gallbladder Nutrients: 2 capsules before dinner
  • Liver Nutrients: 1 capsule after dinner

Would this be helpful if you’re doing carnivore? Using gallbladder nutrients, ProBiota HistaminX and Saccharomyces Boulardii With dinner.

Hi Dawn -

Instead of Ox Bile, I recommend Digestive Enzymes.

It's more comprehensive than the Ox Bile.

The Digestive Enzymes, 2 capsules with meals, supports healthy digestion of protein, fats and carbohydrates while the Ox Bile only supports healthy digestion of fats.*

Hi, I’ve been working with a practitioner who recommended I take your ox bile with fatty meals as we’ve been working on my liver and gallbladder health. I’ve been taking these since March this year and just found out I’m pregnant. Can I continue to take ox bile while pregnant? Do you have any studies you could share with me regarding pregnancy and ox bile supplementation?

Hi Rachel -

Congratulations on your pregnancy! :)

I'm happy to hear that Ox Bile was supporting you.

I'm not comfortable recommending Ox Bile during pregnancy.

You do need support though as pregnancy and breastfeeding are quite hard on your gallbladder and liver.

Consider:

  • Optimal PC: take 1 gel cap after dinner to support healthy bile production and bile flow.*
  • Digestive Enzymes: take 1-2 capsules with meals to support healthy fat, protein and carbohydrate absorption.*

Our Optimal Prenatal contains a bit of Milk Thistle which is supportive of healthy liver.*

Consider:

  • Optimal Prenatal: 2-3 capsules with breakfast, 2-3 with lunch and, if needed, 2 with an afternoon snack.

Hi. Are these capsules acid resistant? Do they survive the stomach?

Hi Olaf -

Great question.

Ox bile does not need to be in acid-resistant capsules as it survives the stomach acid.

It's a very effective supplement as is.

I am treating SIBO with ox bile by taking it at bedtime. I also take probiotics at bedtime. Can I take together or will the ox bile kill the probiotics. I take probiotic histamin X and Sacc. B.

Hi Jackie -

I'd shift some things.

I'd do the Ox Bile before bed.

I'd do the probiotics after breakfast.

Ideal? No but it's massively better than taking them right after each other.

I just recently added this supplement because I was told that since I have no gallbladder I wont have enough bile....I have taken it at bed time.....I then wake up eat my breakfast and have had diarrhea immediately afterwards....does this mean I shouldn't take it? (I also take Gallbladder nutrients and Optimal PC each day with no problems)

Hi Taylor -

If you are taking Gallbladder Nutrients and Optimal PC, and doing well, you do not need to take Ox Bile 125 most likely.

Only time you will need to take Ox Bile 125 in addition is:

  • take with high fat meals that Gallbladder Nutrients does not support you sufficiently
  • need to support a healthy microbiome because you have SIBO and you would take it at night*

I purchased the Seeking Health Ox Bile 125, but I am extremely sensitive and reactive to just about everything— it is clear that I need to start at an even lower dose— Can the capsule be opened and sprinkled? Or would I need to transfer a tiny amount into another capsule? I only know that ox bile is extremely alkaline so I wonder if ph or some other factors may be of concern…

Hi Sarah -

Yes, you may open the capsule and put on a bite of food. It won't taste good and could be very bitter. Try it this way and see how you do.

Perhaps the best thing to do is take a bit of food that you can put into a ball and swallow. Like a piece of gluten-free bread - dump a bit on that, then squish it and then swallow that fast with some filtered water.

125 mg is a pretty low dose but you know you the best. :)

Can you take 1 capsule up to 3 times a day?

Hi Abbas -

Absolutely. Yes, as needed as much as you need.

You may choose to add in more comprehensive support as well with our Digestive Enzyme capsules.

Will this help with acid reflux? If not what do you recommend?

Hi Robert -

This is not my first choice.

I recommend a few things.

Reflux is commonly associated with high histamine. Thus, one needs to support healthy histamine levels.

To do this, take 1 capsule of ProBiota HistaminX after dinner.

Then, with meals, take 1 capsule of Histamine Digest -with each meal that causes you grief.

I'd also consider taking 2 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients before dinner. This is key.

This combination should be quite supportive for you.

Can this be taken along with Gallbladder Nutrients for GB support? I tried adding the Calcium D-Glucarate previously but that didn't help. Thank you!

Hi Cecilia -

You may, yes.

Take Ox Bile with meals. You may also want to take it right before sleep as well - away from food - if you are struggling with SIBO.

You may also want to try Digestive Enzymes capsule with meals.

In the morning, have a 1/2 cup of filtered room temperature water with 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar and a squeeze of a lemon wedge. Sip.

Chew your food very well, do not drink a lot during meals as it dilutes your enzymes, eat when eating (no TV or driving)
