Optimal Man Dr. Lynch Q&AUpdated 6 days ago

Thank you for your quick answer! Sorry the skin issues were dry patchy spots on my face. The same three spots that would just stay no matter what I put on them. Same areas I have had them in the past before going yeast free. The multi itself I felt great using! Great product for sure! When will the selenium change in this product? | Hi J - I'd say about 6 months when a new Lot comes in. I've put in the request just now to the team to switch to all our selenium to the Albion selenium. I do like the selenium yeast form a lot - good data on it. Sounds like eczema a bit. Consider:
These support healthy skin and gut health.* You may also want to add in Bile Nutrients: 2-4 capsules before dinner. This has been very supportive for many people in terms of healthy digestion, healthy skin and healthy sleep and mood.* In health, |
41 year old male here who loves the Optimal Man multi formulation and felt good taking it but after taking it I realized I may be reacting to the yeast in the product with some skin issues. Sensitive to bakers & brewers yeast. It went away when stopping the product Is there a yeast free option? Or something similar you know of? Thank you! | Hi J - Thank you for sharing. Please be specific as to what skin issues. I don't think the yeast is contributing to the skin issues as it's not actually yeast. It's selenium grown on yeast and then processed. That said, we are switching forms of selenium in all our supplements to another excellent form. Testosterone itself may contribute to skin issues such as acne. Testosterone does this by increasing the production of sebum and this can clog skin pores. By taking breaks, you're supporting healthy testosterone levels without going too high.* I do recommend taking breaks in intervals that work well for you - I'd say 2 weeks on and 1 week off for example. Can my 13 year old son start taking these? Maybe 1 per day? Thanks! | Hi John - Absolutely. He can take 1 capsule after his protein based breakfast. Do know that if he moves into highly competitive high level sports with blood testing, he cannot take Optimal Man because of the healthy testosterone support.* I was a division 1 athlete back in university days and had to be careful of what I took. 31 yo M testosterone in the low 200s with a LH of 1.5. Trying to take the natural way to increase my T. What supplements would you recommend me taking? | Hi Zachary - I'd like to first have you evaluate why you think these both are on the very low end for your age. Obesity, nutritional deficiencies, genetics, chemical exposures, high stress, poor sleep, marijuana use, high alcohol use, diabetes, thyroid dysfunction. I recommend working with a naturopathic doctor to help get at the underlying causes and address each one. That said, to support healthy testosterone levels, consider:*

Hi Dr Lynch, Trying to decide if I should take Optimal Man or Testosterone Nutrients. 32 year old male and looking to improve energy and will likely be trying to have a kid in a couple of years. Also, would like to increase T levels as mine are around 700. Which product and how much would you recommend? Thank you! | Hi Paul - Great question. I'm always a fan of starting out with fundamentals so I would suggest Optimal Man but with a touch of Testosterone Nutrients. This way you're getting more comprehensive support that's more spread out - and the bottles will last you more than twice as long Consider:
The sooner you have a kid in this years the better. The sperm and egg are better suited to less chromosomal damage the younger we are which means the child is healthier for longer during their lifespan. Nothing better than being a father - :) I have three amazing sons. Best |
Hi Dr. Lynch. Just curious if you have any estimates on when the stock issues for Optimal Man will be resolved. Still have enough for a short while and trying to avoid purchasing an alternate if it's going to be available soon. Also, I'd be curious if you're changing the formulation as I've seen some cases with other products where it seems that stock issues are occasionally due to a transition stage to an improved formula. Thanks in advance! | Hi Chris - Great question. We should be having new stock in about a week or two. We transitioned this from one manufacturer to a new manufacturer - ours :) - We now own our own manufacturing facility! I may have made some tweaks to this formula but I don't think it's happening in this upcoming lot. We are upgrading the Ashwagandha to a new superior form that I recently discovered. I may also be pulling the PQQ and adding in s-acetyl glutathione so we can offer this product in the EU as we are restricted otherwise. In health, |
Hi Dr. Lynch, wondering what my 21-year-old son can use. He has hypothyroidism with a thyroid nodule. He takes Tirosint. He is also on Pristiq 25 mg for anxiety. He has a lack of energy and constipation and severe scalp psoriasis. What can he take if he is on these medications? And any specific recommendations to help reduce the scalp psoriasis instead of using the strong steroids given by a dermatologist, I really don’t like those going into his bloodstream. He is also positive for homogeneous MTHFR. | Hi Jolene - Psoriasis is typically a combination of:
Consider:
I would not provide a multivitamin yet for him - need to get his gut moving first and the above support this. Check back in a couple weeks and let's see what remains. I also highly recommend a doctor order the US Biotek Common 96 Food allergy IgG test for him - then avoid those foods: He should go gluten-free and cow dairy free for 2 weeks and see how he feels. Going gluten free is easy these days. Essentially he can eat a more carnivore style diet - meat, fruit, honey In health, |
Dr Lynch, My husband tried 2 capsules of Optimal Man after a protein breakfast and 2 after lunch for two days. Both days his head felt heavy and he had to lay down. He has since stopped taking it. He does need something for support though. Every day he feels the need to lay his head down. He is mentally and physically exhausted. His job is mentally draining. He his testosterone is low and we thought maybe he should try testosterone nutrients? He is 48. I am not sure how to help him proceed with supplementation so he can maintain his mental and physical energy during the day. Any advice on how to use and avoid Optimal Man while avoiding negative side effects would be appreciated. thank you!! | Hi Jennifer - Thank you for sharing. I recommend considering the following:
Start here. This should be quite supportive. In health, |
My husband tried this but it keeps him awake at night. He took it in the morning, also tried taking only 1 and 2 capsules. Any advice? He has used other men's multivitamins in the past with no issue. I'm wondering if the methylated folate and B12 are causing the insomnia? | Hi Erin - Consider using it less frequently. It's way more potent than most men's multivitamins with very active ingredients. Consider taking 1 capsule after a protein based breakfast every other or every third day. Better yet, only take it on mornings he feels he needs extra support. I only use Optimal Man on mornings I feel I need to support healthy energy.* My usual morning supplementation looks like this:
That's my usual program. He may only need 1 capsule of Optimal Man once a week. In health, |
Hi, my husband and I want to try to conceive soon so I wanted to start him on this but do you have a MF version? He has trouble with b vitamins but does well with your b complex MF version. Or should he still try this and see how he tolerates? Thanks! | Hi Stephanie - I hear you. I've considered making a MF version but most men do well with it. Consider:
I wish you both success! :) In health, |
My husband tried Optimal Man 2 with protein breakfast, 2 with lunch. Was very tired by afternoon and napped. Tried the same on day 2 and again needed a nap that day. Day 3 awoke very exhausted and decided that maybe the Optimal Man supplement is contributing to the fatigue. Any thoughts on what in the supplement that could be causing the physical and mental fatigue? He's 48. He also knows his testosterone is low so looking to supplement that as well. Thanks!! | Hi Jennifer - I think he may be taking too much. Give it a few days of rest of not taking anything. Then, consider:
Then, after he gets this routine down and feels great, consider:

Hello Dr. Lynch, I am interested in ordering optimal man for my fiancé but wanted to check with you first. My fiancé gets a testosterone injection (Nebido) every 8 weeks for Kallmann syndrome, would it be ok for him to take optimal man? He'll be switching to FSH soon and then Gonasi (HCG) after that. Will there be any interactions between taking this men's prenatal and any of those medications? Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards, Alentina | Hi Alentina - Smart to check. It is ok to use Optimal Man along with these medications and therapies. In fact, it will likely be supportive. Consider:

Hi Dr. Lynch, I appreciate your help with my husband's supplement suggestions. It's really helpful. Can I ask a different question for my 21 year old daughter ? She has hashimoto with lower end of all the thyroid blood work and always high on both of the antibodies (at around 300-400). She has one copy of MTHFR. Can you make any suggestion on supplements that would support her please? Thank you so much! | Hi Jennifer - You're welcome ;) For your daughter, consider:

Hi My 57 year old husband has Barrett's esophagus and takes Nexium. Is it safe for him to take Optimal Man? He is struggling with memory loss lately. I imagine that could be due to nexium. Thank you! | Hi Jennifer - Yes he may use Optimal Man. Consider:
He should notice improvements within 24 hours. In health, |
I am post menopausal and have an androgen dominant hormone profile, symptoms including low body fat, thinning hair and very mild acne. I suspect Optimal Man is not suitable for me, could you recommend a multi vitamin and mineral similar to the Optimal Man without the testosterone support? | Hi Sammi - I'd look into the Optimal Multivitamin and take 2 capsules with breakfast and 2 with lunch. In health, |
Can Women take this? Some of these ingredients have been suggested based on my genes. | Hi Dollina - Yes, in fact, my wife, Nadia, likes to use it on days where she says she needs to, 'Man up!' :) Women need healthy testosterone levels, too. I recommend considering 2 capsules with a protein breakfast. Then, in the afternoon at lunch, see how you feel. If you feel great, then stay at 2 capsules. If you feel you need some additional support but not much, take 1. The suggested use is 4 but that's just to define the amount of ingredients on the label per serving. I would not use Optimal Man if struggling with PCOS or high testosterone. In health, |
Hi Dr. Lynch, My son (20) just recently had genetic testing done and it was determined that his biggest genetic areas in need of support were Methylation, Mood and Behavior and Collagen and Joints. His biggest symptomatic struggles are sore shoulders, an inability to gain weight, and massive difficultly managing stress. (usually tied to the first two things). I did join your membership, but wanted to write here as well - I was going to get him the B complex plus since Methyl b's suggested under both the methylation and mood sections, but I'm wondering how to incoprorate that with a good mulit vitamin. He is at college so supplement compliance wil be an issue - hoping less is more, but also want to cover him well. Any insight GREATLY appreciated. I take many of your supplements and have found them excellent - I now trust my son can benefit too. | Hi JD Jr - Your son is fortunate to have you helping him out here. Genetic testing is great but it's also problematic in that epigenetics are far superior in terms of support needed. I'm going off your list of symptoms for him. I'm suspecting that he needs some basic nutritional foundations first - then from there - we can use specialty formulations if needed. I get the busy college kid - I have two of them. Here's what I recommend for him:
He will not need additional B vitamins or trace minerals as they are found in Optimal Man. Follow up in a month and let's see how he's doing. We can tweak things as needed. In health, |
Would this work for a 16 year old male with what doctor’s call delayed puberty? (Just googled the term). He has fully developed reproductive characteristics, as well as a deep voice, impressive height and muscle development, and a strong beard. However, he lacks seminal discharge or ejaculation fluid. He eats well, meat and eggs and butters. Is Optimal Man fine, or do we wait for Testosterone Nutrients (considering he’s only 16)? | Hi Jenna - I would start with Optimal Man - 2 capsules in the morning with breakfast. Then, if needing more support in the afternoon, have another 2 capsules with lunch. Otherwise skip the afternoon amount. You're looking for healthy energy, healthy mood and healthy focus. Too much Optimal Man may increase irritability, headache and difficulty sleeping. I would also measure his testosterone levels and free T levels. It seems that his T levels are fine. His hydration and prostate may be lacking nutrients. Make sure he is drinking plenty of fluids with electrolytes. He should be drinking 1-3 servings a day of Optimal Electrolyte. I also recommend:

Would Optimal Man™ be suitable for a"young" lady of the age of 62? Currently taking Optimal Electrolyte, DIM + I3C & occasionally Gallbladder Nutrients of your products. Just ordered Dopamine Nutrients & Histamine Digest . I am trying to eliminate taking so many different supplements from other sources. LOVED your book! | Hi Terri Glad you loved Dirty Genes! My wife jokes at times saying she needs to 'man up' and takes a couple capsules of Optimal Man when she needs. She enjoys taking it at times. Do not take Optimal Man if dealing with PCOS though as Optimal Man supports healthy testosterone levels.* I like your combination of supplements! Be sure you take them only as needed - you may not need and likely don't need to take Dopamine Nutrients daily or DIM+I3C - may find that a few times a week suffices. I'd also consider either Brain Nutrients or the Glutathione Plus Lozenge for the morning - immediately upon waking - take 1/2 to 1 lozenge of EITHER one - not both - to start your day. I usually start my day with Brain Nutrients - 1 lozenge and 1 cup of Optimal Electrolyte. In health, |
My husband is facing the possibility of having to have his thyroid removed or possibly just a partial removal. They have told us to bring vitamin D with us along with calcium. I was looking into your D3/K2 but ran across this multivitamin. A good functional medicine doctor informed me he should take a good multivitamin and try to find one with calcium. I don't want to give him junk vitamins or supplements that's why I always purchase seeking health products. However, I am not seeing any calcium listed in the multivitamin. Any suggestions on how to get this in other forms possibly. Not big on supplementing calcium from what I am reading. Will make sure we do labs frequently to monitor this. Thanks for your time and help. | Hi H.B. - I'm with you on supplementing calcium which is why I often don't put it in formulations. Vitamin D3 with K2 is usually sufficient to support calcium levels. That said, he can drink goat milk, eat goat yogurt or goat cheese as these are higher in calcium. There are some horrid goat milks though - use Meyenberg goat milk and I like the blue lower fat version. I like using 2 capsules of Optimal Man with a protein based breakfast and that usually suffices for me. I rarely use 4 capsules a day and usually that's when I'm traveling or working really hard physically. In health, |
Does this help lower DHT and Estrogen? | Hi John - I have an improved formulation coming out next Lot that contains DIM. DIM supports healthy estrogen levels. This formulation supports healthy testosterone levels and healthy sperm for fertility.* I've formulated a Testosterone Nutrients which does support healthy estrogen levels and DHT levels along with additional healthy support for testosterone.* This won't be available until end of 2024 most likely. Consider:
I use Optimal Man a few times a week at 2 capsules a day. I currently have been experimenting with my new Testosterone Nutrients for about 6 months. I've been quite pleased with its performance. I take it in the evening before bed and have noticed significant improvement in healthy mood, healthy sleep and lean body mass.* In health, |
How do you decide between between Optimal Man and Homocysteine Nutrients for a 50 year old man with elevated homocysteine and slightly elevated blood pressure? | Hi Jim - Great question. Elevated homocysteine is directly correlated with elevated blood pressure. Some times a few supplements are needed. It depends on the significance of the deficiency and the causes of the elevations. Here's what I recommend:
If you're experiencing moments of mental and emotional stress, consider Stress Nutrients with breakfast. This is mostly an herbal adaptogenic blend to support healthy responses to stress.* Stress itself may increase homocysteine and blood pressure. After taking these for a month, retest your homocysteine. In health, |
Hi Ben How many studies did you reference in regards to Zinc playing a functional role in testosterone boosting, in regards to this multi. As it has been mentioned in the marketing material. I have seen tons of conflicting studies around zincs role in T production, estrogen inhibition, and even 5 alpha reductase inhibition. If not study based, have you been able to pull clinical evidence from yourself, family & friends that take this? | Hi Mike - I did reference studies for the higher amounts of zinc used in Optimal Man. The zinc is not entirely meant for 'testosterone boosting' - it's more meant for sperm health and fertility support. I am currently formulating a supplement specific to supporting healthy testosterone. I have been testing many variations now for over a year. I'm getting closer to actually producing it and will do so once I'm happy with how it's performing. Zinc also supports healthy prostate function - which is incredibly important for men. In health, |
A few years ago, we found out that my now 12 year old has the MTHFR and COMT gene. We were initially started on a multi vitamin including Niacel, Zinc and a liquid folate. We are really struggling with mood - impulsivity, lack of focus, aggression, motivation and I’m wondering if he can start taking the Optimal man? It has been difficult to keep up with all of them separately. I was going to start him on the B plus, but thought I would ask first. Thank you! | Hi there - I would use the Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF for him. And only this - no B Complex Plus or additional Zinc - not needed. I'd also consider Stress Nutrients with him - with breakfast. Upon waking, consider 1/2 lozenge of Glutathione Plus Lozenge. Make sure he is eating protein for breakfast. Eggs, meat, protein powders in a smoothie. Always start his day with protein - never just carbs. It will wreck his moods. And yours. In health, |
