Multivitamin One MF Dr. Lynch Q&AUpdated a month ago

| Wow I’m so thankful for the quick reply and support. Your explanation on B6 makes me feel better with taking it. As for my gallbladder it is hyperkinetic. I probably missed the autocorrect. My nausea has calmed a bit but I still have low appetite. It seems worse for the first 2/3 of the day and dinner seems a bit better. Hoping with time the supplements you suggested help. I’m also looking to meet with a functional medicine office to see if they have any advice. Unfortunately I’ve been dealing with daily pain mid back pain, low energy, feeling nauseous/full, no appetite, anxious, and wakeful sleep for the past year. The supplements you recommended and my appointment with the functional medicine office is kind of the end of the line for me before I decide to get surgery. I have been trying my best to support my body so I can avoid getting surgery, but the daily pain and on going symptoms are taking a major toll on my physical and mental health. I’ve lost 24lbs this year and I’m very skinny. I should mention to you so you have a bigger picture that I also deal with raynaud’s and hypothyroid. I also think I am in perimenopause being that I am 40. I started 100mg prometrium this past cycle and hoping that helps some. One other thing, I don’t seem to do well with magnesium glycinate. It doesn’t help with sleep and I think makes me more restless at night. I bought some magnesium l-threonate and that I seem to tolerate better. Let me know your thoughts on this. Again I very much appreciate your support. I’m a big fan of your research and company. I also appreciate your quick response. | Hi Terri - Consider working with ElizmaLambert.com - she's very good with gut health and immunity. Be very worth your while. Magnesium glycinate can definitely aggravate sleep in those with higher serotonin levels. Mag threonate or mag malate may be better suited for you. It's odd to me how your gallbladder is hyperkinetic yet you have all the symptoms of hypo. Perhaps you need more bile binders like this:

| My daughter has homozygous MTHFR C677T mutation and is looking to get pregnant in the next few years. She has always had horrible gut issues- immediate diarrhea after eating and has no food allergies. She has made lifestyle changes but her gut health and her high levels of anxiety are impacting her quality of life. I feel like it is this mutation that is causing these challenges. Where do we start? Should she take both the Multivitamin One MF, the B12 and Methyl Folate Lozenges and Riboflavin or would this be way too much. When do you add the histamine supplements? She is also low iron and borderline anemic. Thank you for any direction and helping her optimize her health and have the future family she dreams of. Would it work to do prenatal vitamins as her general multivitamin now? | Hi Jennifer - I'm happy that you're working on addressing her gut health now. Very smart. The MTHFR variant does contribute yes but it is not an underlying cause. Consider:
I would not add the multivitamins yet or the lozenges - just the supplements above first. If you want to work with a great health professional, reach out to ElizmaLambert.com - she's very good with gut health. Keep me posted how she is doing. In health, |
| I’m concerned about the B6 level in the vitamin. I currently take it every other day. I have c677t mthfr homozygous and slow comt. I’m just seeing lots of articles lately about the dangers of b6 toxicity. When I had bloodwork done and few months ago I was taking this and my B6 was elevated. Granted I took it two days before my bloodwork so maybe that’s why my b6 was high? I stopped taking it and my B6 is now in range, but my zinc, iodine, and b2 are low so I started taking it again. Just hoping my b6 doesn’t shoot up again. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you. On a side note I reached out to Dr. Lynch recently and he has me taking this, optimal electrolytes, liver nutrients, histamine digest, lithium orotate, probiota histamine X, optimal PC, magnesium, and saccharin yea boulardii in an effort to help my hypo kinetic gallbladder, poor appetite, and anxiety. | Hi Terri - I hear you and it's good to be mindful. Keep in mind that vitamin ranges are often times not taking into account people using supplementation. They are only looking at people who are 'healthy' and not taking anything. And I put 'healthy' in quotes as often times these subjects are poor college kids collecting $20 for a controlled study. Seriously. The amount of B6 you are getting in our multivitamins is very safe - and we use the P5P form which is not associated with toxicity while the higher dose pyridoxal HCL can be but even that is suspect. I think elevated levels can be present and associated with neuropathy but are they causative? I don't think so but it's best to be mindful. I want to clarity one thing - you mentioned hyperkinetic in your first question I believe and now you're stating hypokinetic. Which one is it? That makes a big difference - it makes more sense to be hypokinetic and not hungry vs hyperkinetic. If hypokinetic gallbladder, I'd make a few changes for you to consider:

| My daughter has been on these vitamins for four months along side her mental health medications. When I try to take her off the vitamin she gets extremely agitated and violent. So with the guidance of her doctor we have been reducing her mental health medication over the course of the last month. As we reduce the mental health medication, she sleeps more. She sleeps 14-15 hours a day. What is happening with the vitamin that she didn't feel tired until we reduced the mental health medication? Are they somehow working together? I'm afraid to reduce the vitamin but I have to do something. Can it be opened and given in parts? It doesn't look consistent throughout, so how do I know she's getting the right amounts? I've also bought the children's MF vitamins to go down slowly, but there are extra things in the children's version that aren't in the adult version and I'm afraid I'll make the situation worse. As of now, I've skipped one day of the vitamin. She's still tired but not violent. I'm hoping to get guidance on what to do if she does start feeling agitated to head off any problems. What do you think the best way to do this is? I'm hoping she won't need anything since her mental health medications are almost out of her system, but what do I do if the problem is the vitamin and not the other medications? | Hi CM - It would be helpful knowing which medications she is tapering down on. Yes, the medications and the supplements look like they were working together. That said, when tapering off neurological medications, the brain can 'rewire' and needs to rest. The receptors may have been overloaded and by taking the medications away, the receptors are not as busy thereby making her more fatigued. You may need to taper the meds more slowly - not sure. Look at the half life of the medication and also the mechanism of action. I don't want to make any other recommendations without knowing what the medications are. In health, |
| The new formula has less amount of lutein from 3mg to 1mg and has no magnesium at all! Also I see it has 10mg of zinc but no copper! Copper is necessary to take with zinc. Why doesn’t this one have any copper? Are you going to fix the amount of lutein and add the magnesium? Add some copper or then go back to the old formula? | Hi Mariana - I like that you're digging into the supplement facts! I hear you and yes, we have a new lot coming in that addresses some of your findings.
We do offer Optimal Magnesium which people love taking before bed to support healthy sleep.* It has 150 mg of two fantastic forms of magnesium in 1 capsule. In health, |
| Hi, I have a 16 year old son who plays sports 6 days a week. What do you suggest to support him through puberty? He has some hormonal acne, wants to support his growth, and focus. | Hi Kaleo - I have a few things for him to consider:
In health, |
| I've just purchased the Multivitamin One MF but want to start at a lower dose. Bottle says I can sprinkle it on food. If I only sprinkle half of it on my food and close the capsule for a later meal, will it still be effective after being exposed to the air? I also have that question for using B Complex MF as it is too strong for me to use a whole capsule. Thanks! | Hi Denise - You may open the capsule and sprinkle half on a bite of your food. That's the best way. Then close the capsule for next time and take as you normally would and swallow with some water after you've eaten your protein based breakfast. The short duration of it being exposed to air is just fine. If it was a week, that's a different story. If you are taking Multivitamin One MF, you do. not need to take the B Complex MF as you already have all the B vitamins in the multivitamin. As you found out, it's too much stimulation. If you need a pick me up either first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon, consider Brain Nutrients and use 1/4 tablet and let it dissolve slowly in your mouth then swallow. In health, |
| Why the change in the most recent formula? I just received the new formula as opposed to the old one and couldn’t help but notice the new formula no longer contains the manganese(Manganese *(as Manganese Bisalycinate Chelate) (Albion®) 1 mg 43%) Also the lutein used to be 3mg and it is now only 1mg. I wanted to upload pictures of both bottles but I’m not finding a way to do that. As I circled in red the changes I’ve noticed like the new formula now says : Vitamin K2 (as menaquinone-7) (vitaMK7®) 100mog instead of Vitamin K2 (as menaquinone-7) not sure that’s the same thing just worded differently same as with the “ Life P00®(pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt) and the old formula didn’t have the word Life in the beginning just POOL-s Pyrroloquinoline quinone Disodium Salt) But yeah the biggest changes I’ve noticed is the lack of the manganese and the amount of lutein you now cut down from 3mg to 1mg. Hope I hear from you soon. Thanks, Mariana | Hi Mariana - We do adjust formulations at times. The K2 and PQQ are still the active forms - just using the trademarked forms - superior. We will be removing the PQQ in a future lot so we can offer it in the EU because if we use PQQ, we can't offer it there due to some licensing issues. Manganese and Lutein I'll check on those because I want to keep those the same. I'll check with my QC team. I'll get those back to where they were in future lots. In health, |
| I’m suspecting I have a sensitivity to methylated vitamins. I’ve tried the Seeking Health Optimal Multi, as well as a different brand with methylated vitamins resulting in nerve pain, headaches, anxiousness. My kids don’t seem to be sensitive, but it’s hard to tell. Would this Multivitamin One MF be a good option for super-sensitive individuals starting at a low-dose? We need to replenish nutrients after mold toxicity and treatment. Thanks! | Hi Jenny - You're not alone. It's very common. I believe the active forms of B12 and folate are just so much more effective than the standard garbage of folic acid and cyanocobalamin. What I suggest:
For your kids, they can use:

| Can this cause a niacin flush? I took one and maybe an hour or so later I started to feel my face burning and went to check and my face, ears, elbows, knees are red like a rash and burning especially my face. This is the third time taking it but first time happening. But I also barely ate today so basically was on an empty stomach as the other days I’ve had more to eat I think. What could have caused it? I haven’t done anything different haven’t been anywhere or used anything different as it’s early in the morning and I woke up and ate an estate Creme egg that I’m used to having and then had one of these. Please help. | Hi Mariana - You hit it. The issue is when taking a multivitamin, you must always take it after a full meal. ;) The niacin may have caused you to flush without food. Taking with food will eliminate that. Note that I recommend using Multivitamin One MF a few days a week after a full protein based breakfast. You usually don't need more than that unless you're really on the go, traveling, working out hard. In health, |
| I'm looking for a multivitamin my kids (ages 7, 11, 13) and I can take in capsule form. We have been treating mold toxicity and trying to replenish our bodies from deficiencies that have come from mold and other viruses. I know we aren't methylating well and suspect MTHFR with myself and youngest. I just started reading "Dirty Genes" so I'm sure I'll learn more. I tried a different brand with methylated vitamins, which gave me a headache and made me really tired. Do you think Multi One MF could be a good fit? Thanks! | Hi Jennifer - I hear you. Methylated nutrients are very powerful. What I'm considering for you all is a supplement you can all take and you just take a different amount of capsules as needed. Thus, I'm thinking:
In health, I should add that I believe the Multivitamin One MF to be too strong for all of you. I suspect it may give headaches and it's not easy to open capsules and sprinkle on food. This is why I suggest the Optimal Multivitamin. The serving size is 8 capsules so if you take 2 capsules, you're getting 25% of the label claim which could be great for you and your kids. I would start your kids with just 1 capsule and yourself as well. You can always take more on days you feel you need additional support. In health, |
| Hello, I found out last year that I was homozygous MTHFR and slow COMT. My FMD at the time recommended taking mythelated vitamins. After A couple of months on these I had horrible anxiety, sleep issues and lost over 10 lbs. I now have adrenal fatigue\burnout and just had a HTMA that has my minerals as a "4 low pattern" from the vitamins. Would this product, or others be beneficial in recovering from overmythelation and rebuilding my minerals and adrenal strength? Much appreciated to know where a good place to start would be! | Hi Frank Your story is all too common. I have some thoughts for you to consider:
I didn’t recommend a multivitamin for you. Not yet. Consider this support for a month. Then evaluate how you’re doing. If needing more support, consider adding in 1 capsule of Optimal Man after breakfast. This has a smidge of methylfolate in it. It’s a very popular and overall supportive multi for men that doesn’t stimulate. Keep me posted. You should feel the support within a day. In health, |
| Hi Dr. Lynch. Hoping to gain your input and recommendation. My daughter (21) has been taking your Multivitamin One MF on and off for several weeks. She doesn’t take it consistently because she thinks it sometimes causes her minor headaches. She’s just finished the first bottle and, unfortunately, I’d just purchased a new bottle before becoming aware of the potential issue. However, is it possible that your new Multivitamin Sensitive could be a better fit for her? I still think she may need to get B12 in some form (and had seemed a bit sensitive to methylated in the past). I guess we can try to add non-methylated B12 the future but I’d like to get her on a decent multi as a foundation first. She also is not in favor of taking many separate pills so that becomes a challenge as well. At this point I’m hoping to understand if some ingredient in the Multivitamin MF that’s not in the new Multivitamin Sensitive product may be the cause. I realize that there may not be a way to know for sure without trying it but would appreciate any thoughts or recommendations you might have or if you’ve heard of others with similar concerns. Thanks in advance! | Hi Chris - I think she's correct. Consider this:
In health, |
| I currently take the Multivitamin One MF and found out my selenium RBC is critical high. I have MTHFR 1298, so that may contribute to the high selenium. Do you have a suggestion of a product I can take along with the B-Minus and Hydroxy B12 & Folinic Acid (I have both of these also) to basically make a multivitamin without selenium? I would like to get the other vitamins and minerals in the multivitamin….just not selenium. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! Kelli | Hi Kelli - This happened to my wife as well. I hear you. You're leading me to make a multimineral without selenium because I believe selenium is actually quite often over supplemented. I don't have anything to offer at the moment. Remember that trace minerals are often needed in trace amounts and stay in circulation for a long period of time. Using a himalayan salt is a good way to get over 60 trace minerals. In health, |
| My 65 year old was just dx with type 2 diabetes- put on metformin 500mg bid. takes no other meds. I just started him on Magnesium, was going to also order this Multi and your Liver Nutrients for him. See any reason he can't take these while taking Metformin? Or at least the Liver Nutrients? Thanks SO much for all you do. | Hi Jen - You can use these, yes. Instead of the Multivitamin One MF, consider the Optimal Man. Consider:
He won't need the liver nutrients I don't think if he's using the Glutathione and Optimal Man. If he is experiencing constipation or difficulty with stools, consider these to support a healthy bowel movement*:
He will feel like a new man :) In health, |
| Hello, I’ve been taking the daily one MF for over a year. I just found out I’m pregnant though. Is it too late to take the optimal pregnancy vitamins? Will they still benefit my baby even though I wasn’t taking methylated vitamins prior to pregnancy? | Hi Lauren - Congratulations! :) That's awesome! You're in good hands with a MF or regular methylated multivitamin. One does not need to have methylated vitamins in order to have a healthy pregnancy. You simply need to have healthy levels of active forms of nutrients - which you are getting in the MF supplements. You are getting active folate in the form of folinic acid and the active form of B12 in the form of hydroxocobalamin. These are superior to the inactive folic acid and inactive cyanocobalamin forms. Given that you got pregnant with the Multivitamin One MF and do well with that, I recommend you consider:
In health, |
| On the key ingredients section of this site, it states: L-carnitine, alpha-lipoic acid, CoQ10, flavonoids, PQQ A powerful blend of antioxidant-like nutrients that support healthy energy production, the aging process and cognition.† Yet, of these, I only see PQQ on the product label image. Can you please confirm if all are included or if it is an error on the page? Thank you! | Hi Chris - I can see how that's confusing. I will talk with my team. They used a generic antioxidant blend to explain what PQQ is - and they should not have done that. I'll have it corrected. Whatever is on the label is what is in the product. I would take a look at Optimal Man as that does have a lot of what you mentioned above. I usually take 2 capsules of Optimal Man with my protein based breakfast. I usually don't take the afternoon dose unless I'm really physical or traveling. In health, |

| Thank you for the reply to my original question below! I am not aware of all my SnP yet, I am slowly working my way thru your book. My symptoms are anxiety, rumination, having hard time staying on task, completing things, lower motivation and my circadian clock seems to like to goto bed later and wake up later which is not working well with 9-5 schedule. I take adhd meds that help with the issues of task initiation and completion and I also take buspar for anxiety. I have a higher stress job that is very technical and have been thru professional grad doctorate program and have just accumulated lots of stress and still carry it with me. I’m trying to deal with the above symptoms and wandered if I’m missing something that I should be taking based on my genetics to help me deal with stress and give me more calm motivation and energy | Hi Phil - I hear you. Good input. ADHD meds and anti-anxiety meds are too strong to use in conjunction with our nootropics. It's one or the other - not both. Lower motivation is associated with low dopamine. A few things I can suggest which are foundational which is a great start:
Give this a go for two weeks and then follow up. You should notice significant improvement within a couple days. In health, |
| Thanks for your response again! One more question, why methlycobalamin? I took methylcobalamin initially and switched to your hydroxocobalamin and tapered slowly, and seem to be tolerating .Is it okay to keep using this formulation? | Hi Stephanie - If you're good with it, keep going ;) Best, |
| Hi, thank you for the helpful response. Just two more questions- what about the NAC I’m taking? Should I stop that too? And you said to stop the b12- my last two labs showed I was low b12 at 372, should I keep going with that? | Hi Stephanie - If your labs showed low B12, definitely keep going with B12 supplementation and I'd use a sublingual B12 like Methyl B12 5000 lozenges. I would like you to consider stopping the NAC yes. Reason being is I'd like to simplify how many things you're taking and see if what I proposed will support you sufficiently. Liver Nutrients has some NAC in it. Too much NAC and too much sulfur is problematic for many reasons - and NAC can be very dehydrating. I get why NAC is recommended but the supplements I suggested should cover you. Over supplementing is a concern. In health, |
| Hi, not sure if this is for me. Back in May I found out I was heterozygous for C677T and heterozygous mutation on COMT V158M. After seeing a “specialist” he advised me just to start methyfolate and methylcobalamin and my anxiety worsened so I stopped. After doing a little of my own research, I can up with a low and slow protocol for myself and stopped eating anything enriched. , first supplementing with NAC 600mg qd for a few weeks, then adding in a multivitamin that didn’t contain b12 or folate for a few weeks,(the MethylLife unmethylated multi) then slowly added in your hydroxocobalamin (increasing by a quarter a week until 1 whole tab), then the same with your folinic acid product. Well, the anxiety and panic is still there and not seeing too much benefit. After reading through the questions, I am worried because I am on sertraline 50mg, levothyroxine, trazodone (only 12.5mg) and lorazepam as needed. Do you think I’m on the right track? Does it take a while for your body to even out? Any hopeful advice would be appreciated. | Hi Stephanie - There are a lot of 'specialists' out there. You're supplementing with powerful nutrients while also taking powerful medications which affect your neurotransmitters. Thus, you're creating excessive neurotransmission which is causing the anxiety issues. If you're wanting to taper off the medications and use nutrients instead, then that's an option you need to determine and work with a health professional. ElizmaLambert.com is fantastic to work with You cannot do both - it's too strong. In the meantime, I'd support the foundational health aspects:
Start here. Stop the multivitamins, folate and B12. The above supplements are gentle and very noticeable in their effect. You'll feel their benefits. In health, |
| MTHFR A1298C (A/C) MTHFR C677T (C/T) These show I have impaired methylation and is suggested to take methylated B vitamins /TMG/SAMe But my COMT genotype is A/A at the rs4680 So it’s slow, and slow recommends non methylated supps. So should I be taking methylated supps and methyl donors like SAMe, TMG, L-methylfolate, methylcobalamin (B12), P5P (B6), TMG, riboflavin, or not ?? | Hi Phil - Number one rule in Genetics Club is to not supplement based on SNPs alone :) You supplement based on need - not SNPs. Please specify what symptoms you're looking to support and then I'll give you recommendations. Add in your SNPs to that question as that is helpful information to know. Without symptoms, there's no need to supplement. In health, |
| Question This is a great vitamin and seems to be less agitating. Does someone who has MTHFR mutations need to be supplementing folinic acid daily or can food be enough? Thanks. | Hi Carlin - It's about need vs SNP. If you're taxing your MTHFR enzyme hard, then, yes, you need more folate. If you're on vacation, relaxed, not exercising, healthy, not working, then you don't need more folate supplements every day at all - possibly just every other day or just get it from food. I usually use Optimal Man at 2 capsules about 5 days a week vs the full serving size of 4 capsules. I have the MTHFR compound heterozygous. I base my need on what I eat, how I feel and how hard I'm working my MTHFR enzyme. Just recently I had a pretty high fever for a few days which really taxed my MTHFR enzyme. So I've been using a lot of methylfolate - way more than usual - because the fever really negatively affected my MTHFR enzyme. I'm already tapering back down. In health, |
| Hi, I'm interested in Multivitamin One MF, but noticed that the Selenium is a form of High Selenium Yeast. Do you know if there are any contraindications with this form of selenium and candida overgrowth? And if so, do you have any recommendations for alternative products? I'm interested in whatever could provide the nutrients of a multivitamin with non-methylated forms of b vitamins (but am also trying to avoid anything that could lead to more candida growth). Thanks so much for any help. | Hi Dani - The selenium is derived from the yeast and highly purified. There is no yeast in the final product and has no issues for those with candida. I do suggest the Multivitamin One MF and take 1 capsule with breakfast every other day. Do not take it daily to start. On days that you feel great in the morning, well rested, sharp head, skip it. You do not need it on those days. I find that most people do well with Multivitamin One MF when they take it about 3 days a week. In health, |
| I started taking this vitamin & even thought it’s methyl free I’m still experiencing some anxiety/panic. What could I do to help this?? Thanks! | Hi Taylor - Yes, that can happen. Use it only 1 to 3 days a week vs daily. Most people only need to take Multivitamin One MF just a few days a week. Taking too many nutrients can definitely increase anxiousness. Take a rest for a few days, then only take a capsule of Multivitamin One MF on mornings where you feel you need more healthy energy and healthy cognitive support.* On mornings you wake up feeling great, skip it. I recommend starting your day with 1/2 a lozenge of Glutathione Plus lozenge and 1/2 to 1 serving of Optimal Electrolyte. These support healthy head clarity and energy.* Then, if needing more support, then you'd take a Multivitamin One MF otherwise you're good to go. In health, |
| Hello, I take the Multi One MF daily and love. With someone who is compound heterozygous mthfr - would the Riboflavin of 5mg in this product be enough? | Hi Angy - If you are feeling great, then you're likely getting enough nutrients. If taking more than you need, side effects start happening. You can measure your fasting homocysteine and see what it is. If your fasted homocysteine is between 6 - 8 umol/L, you're getting enough most likely. In health, |
| Why does the Multivitamin One MF have such high amount of B6? My husband has peripheral neuropathy and I think it got worse when he was taking your multi :( Found this when searching; https://www.tga.gov.au/news/safety-updates/peripheral-neuropathy-supplementary-vitamin-b6-pyridoxine Australia's TGA has updated regulations so that all products containing a daily dose of vitamin B6 above 10 mg require a warning about peripheral neuropathy. | Hi Margareta - B6 is a water soluble vitamin. There is a lot of talk about B6 contributing to peripheral neuropathy and it's not decisive. B6 can make aldehydes so it's important that he get sufficient thiamine - which is also in the multivitamin. I also recommend that people do NOT take a multivitamin daily - but only on an as-needed basis. Consider:
Your husband can also switch from Multivitamin One MF to Optimal Man and take 2 capsules with breakfast on the days he needs support - and skip taking the other 2 at lunch. I find that 2 capsules of Optimal Man a few times a week works really well for me. This would also reduce the amount of B6 he is getting - and he'd also be getting twice the amount of thiamine - so a win/win. In health, |
| Can my 13 year old take these? He would prefer a capsule vs a chewable. Please advise, thanks! | Hi Lindsay - He may but it's pretty powerful. I recommend that he consider taking 1 capsule twice a week with a protein based breakfast or take only on days where he feels he needs support and skip on mornings where he feels good and not needing anything. Better yet, here's what may work better for him: What I suggest is Multivitamin Plus and he can take 1-2 capsules of that with a protein-based breakfast. That way he gets less of the potent blend of vitamins and minerals in a more tolerated and useful amount. One bottle will last a long time at this rate as well as it's an 8 capsule per serving with 30 servings. I highly suggest you also consider for him:
In health, |
| Can a 12 yr old take this? I ordered the children chewable and he doesn't like the taste. He is very sensitive to taste. | Hi Christy - It's a pretty comprehensive formulation in 1 capsule. What I suggest is Multivitamin Plus and he can take 1-2 capsules of that with a protein-based breakfast. That way he gets less of the potent blend of vitamins and minerals in a more tolerated and useful amount. One bottle will last a long time at this rate as well as it's an 8 capsule per serving with 30 servings. In health, |
| Thanks heaps for all your help! :) With the optimal focus you mentioned, and with my main symptom being anxiety, fear, do you think this would increase it at all? - I will start with the protein and digestive enzymes, optimal focus, maybe one glutathione per week. And maybe try the MF Multi and Serotonin that I've purchased in a months time (but only maybe take 1-2 times per week). Is it okay to open the capsules and sprinkle half on food if I need a lower dose? Warmly and best wishes, Lilly | Hi Lilly - It's great to be cautious. Agree to take it slow and introduce one thing at a time and it's totally cool to open the capsule and sprinkle on a bite of food. Take these supplements on an as-needed basis. Some days you will feel amazing and other days you'll need significant support. Tune in to how each of these supplements make you feel, make a mental note and then take them when you need that specific support. In health, |
| Hi Dr Lynch, thank you for all your help. I have just read got your book and its fantastic. Highly recommend it! My oat test were all lowish in all neurotransmitters. My main symptoms are anxiety/panic/phobia and low mood and itchiness, headaches and some migraines. Are there any supplements you would recommend? I purchased the serotonin to start first, and MF multi (to use later on) and the glutathione when needed. Is it okay to open the capsules and sprinkle half on food? I can see this because your neurotransmitters are all low and your homocysteine is low. Thus, starting by working on your digestion and assimilation of protein is an important place to start. Consider:
Start here and check in a bit. In health, |
| Thanks so much for explaining that. I will speak with my dr about the serotonin nutrients. Sorry I know I said last question before, but would you have any supplement suggestions for low Homocysteine - it was 4? I got this tested before I started any supplements, eg b's . Many thanks | Hi Lilly - The best way to support a Low Homocysteine (lower than 6 umol/L) is to:
In health, |
| Thanks very much for explaining :) last email, sorry for all the emails! I could be wrong, but I don't think I can take the serotonin nutrients as I'm on antidepressants - sertraline. My oat test were lowish in serotonin, and a lowish urine 5 HIAA test. Was thinking of taking ½ loz, or lower. The only thing I noticed in this supplement was it has turmeric/curcumin - MAOA gene says to avoid. Do you think this will be a problem? I was also recommended to take your brand ribioflavin 400mg, twice per day for the COMT and MAOA. I made an error with my genes before - both COMT are slow. MAOA - rs6323 TT (++) slow, but this one was fast - MAOA- rs909525 AA (++). MTHFR C677T and A1298C genes are heterozygous (+-) Kind regards, Lilly | Hi Lilly - You're correct - Sertraline is a SSRI which increases the amount of serotonin in the brain by preventing it from being 'pulled out' from the active areas. Serotonin Nutrients supports the healthy production, transport, binding and presence of serotonin in the brain.* One cannot combine both SSRI and Serotonin Nutrients as it may be too much serotonin in the brain. That said, Sertraline's function is dedicated to KEEPING serotonin in the brain. It has NOTHING to do with the production, transport or binding to receptors. If one is deficient in serotonin from a production or transport or binding point of view, then Sertraline will be ineffective. The 'avoid curcumin' is not set in stone - it should state 'Be mindful that curcumin may slow COMT but if one has a need for supporting healthy dopamine and serotonin, then curcumin should be considered.' If your OAT test still shows low serotonin, then the Sertraline is not performing as well as needed. Talk with your doctor about dosage or the combining of Serotonin Nutrients with Sertraline. If combining, you should definitely work with your doctor with the dosage and monitoring how you feel. If one supports healthy production of serotonin and dopamine, then the need for medication support is significantly lessened. In health, |
| Hi Dr Lynch, Thanks very much for getting back to me. Just to clarify, its nicotinic acid not niacinamide. I was just a bit worried with the flushing and anxiety. I read somewhere niacinamide form may not cause this. My main symptom is anxiety/panic, could I still take the Multivitamin One MF, either every day or every other day? I got an organic oat test done, and neurotransmitters were low, but slow COMT and MAOA says it may lead to high levels of neurotransmitters in the brain (dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, seratonin etc). Many thanks, Lilly | Hi Lilly - By taking the Multivitamin One MF with a meal, you should be just fine and not experience a niacin flush. Now, if you take it with just a snack or no food, you will likely experience a niacin flush. Anxiety and panic may be associated with high neurotransmitters or low - and a variety of each - so it's not easy to pinpoint a recommendation. A slow COMT and slow MAOA is good to know as is having low levels of neurotransmitters. If your neurotransmitters are low, then you need to support them - but not too hard because of the slow COMT and MAOA. I'd consider:
I would start with Serotonin Nutrients first and not Multivitamin One MF. Take the Serotonin Nutrients with some food anytime of day as needed. In health, |
| Hello, What form of B3 is in the Multivitamin One MF. Does it have Nicotinamide (vitamin B3) in it or just Niacin? I haven't taken these versions of folate or b12 before, and I just wondered why folate is high in comparison to the b12? I have slow COMT and slow MAOA, both ++ Thanks | Hi Lilly - The niacin is nicotinic acid. Folate is always higher than B12. I've never seen it in reverse unless it's just a B12 supplement - then it's no folate. A slow COMT and slow MAOA:

| Hi. My 15 year old boy and 16 year old girl take this MF multi daily. They both have MTHFR C677C, anxiety and are sensitive to methyls. My son has a slow COMT. We have been supplementing them with 2 mg of copper 3 times per week since this multi has no copper, but I'm wondering if I should stop this or cut it down to 1-2 days/week since I heard copper can be bad. Thus, they both had plasma copper levels that were almost out of range in the past. Your advice would be very appreciated. | Hi Liz - I agree with your thinking. 2 mg of copper is quite a bit. If they eat nuts, seeds or shellfish, then their copper levels should be pretty decent. I would also not give them a multivitamin every day as it can be too stimulating - as any of our multivitamins can be. I'd switch to the Kids Multivitamin MF version - as it is less potent and has some copper in it. The taste is very good. Start them on 1 chewable with a protein based breakfast. Eggs, meat, or whey protein or collagen based smoothie. They may both do well with 1 capsule of Stress Nutrients in the morning with breakfast. I would not give them the full 3 capsule serving. Upon waking, consider 1/2 lozenge for each of them of Glutathione Plus Lozenges to support healthy glutathione levels.* They will like the taste and how they feel from it. We all must drink during the day and giving them 1/2 to 1 scoop of Optimal Electrolyte supports healthy habits and healthy hydration.* In health, |
| Why would this multivitamin cause stress read that on guys message below and you said shouldn’t take everyday ? Thought this was a simple multi 1 pill , what would make it cause gray hair also in his message ? | Hi Bradley - Stress may occur when neurotransmitters are in excess. Nutrients can contribute to excessive neurotransmitter production. By taking Multivitamin One MF daily - or ANY multivitamin - one may experience an excessive amount of nutrients in their blood contributing to excessive production of neurotransmitters. It's best to take a multivitamin when you NEED it to support healthy neurotransmitter levels. It is never a good idea to take a multivitamin every single day week in week out or for months. One may find they need a multivitamin a few days in a row while they are working hard physically or mentally then skipping it when the weekend comes and they are relaxing and resting. It ties into what I call the Pulse Method In health, |
| I used Multivamin One MF, but it caused brain fog. After a few weeks of use, white hairs started to appear, and I am only 28 years old. I stopped taking it for a while, and both the brain fog and white hairs disappeared. When I resumed taking it, the brain fog and white hairs returned, so I stopped permanently. Since I have the Homozygous C677T mutation, I bought your folinic acid and started taking half a capsule. The same symptoms of brain fog and white hairs returned. I have read your book and follow its advice in my life, but I cannot take anything containing folinic acid or methylfolate. On average, my homocysteine is 11, and when I take even a small amount of these folates, it drops rapidly. Can you help me overcome chronic fatigue? | Hi Emanual - I suspect your stress levels increased too much by taking the Multivitamin One MF. I recommend only taking Multivitamin One MF on an as needed basis - definitely not daily. I talk about the Pulse Method here: I usually take Optimal Man - but I take only 2 capsules - not 4 - with breakfast and only a couple to few days a week. For energy, I'd consider starting gentle. Consider using 1/2 lozenge of Glutathione Plus Lozenges upon waking. Start there. Then, mix a scoop of Optimal Electrolyte in a liter of filtered water. Sip it over time. Start with these two. In health, |
| Hello, I am enquiring about your MF multivitamins. I have purchased them
but I am wondering if it is safe to take them when I am on an
antidepressant? I currently take Zoloft 50mg and hoping I can
take them to support myself. I have spoken to my GP and he is
unsure of your brand so he didn't have any insight or knowledge of
MF vitamins and how to use them or any contradictions. | Hi Bree - They are safe to take while on that medication yes. What I will say is when you support your biochemistry with multivitamins like these, you may find that you feel better. You may need to work with your GP and taper down on your medication if you start feeling more anxious, irritable or cannot sleep. Here's why: Multivitamins support the healthy production of neurotransmitters. If your neurotransmitter production is healthy and functional, then you don't need as much outside support. Zoloft works by keeping whatever dopamine levels in your brain there longer. If you're taking a multivitamin that supports healthy dopamine levels, then you have more dopamine in your brain for Zoloft to keep there longer. Up to a point, this is good but past that, you start getting high dopamine which leads to symptoms of irritability, anger, headaches, insomnia. You can talk with your doctor about Dopamine Nutrients as well to support healthy dopamine levels.* It does this by supporting the healthy production, activation, retention and transport of dopamine.* You cannot take Dopamine Nutrients while on Zoloft. | Hi Dr Lynch, we have ongoing health challenges with my 16 year old daughter that have been going on for years. What we know from my reviewing her 23andme SNPs: Homozygous COMT, MAO, DAO, GST Hetero MTHFR, PEMT, NOS3 Unknown We know she has favourable response from your histadigest product and we use a thorne magnesium. We are trying now to work out what other supplements might work - just tried lithium alongside a b complex (Yasko) and things go worse. So back to square one again... Am revisiting your dirty genes book and looking at starting with basics again - Mutli plus electrolytes . Which multi should I get? Thanks so much Amy | Hi Amy - I wouldn't start with a multivitamin. Many people think they should start with a multivitamin, and many can - but if struggling with a chronic condition, it's not recommended as it pushes pathways too hard and fast. Instead, I'd consider what you're looking to support and focus on one or two things first. I believe you're on point thinking to start with electrolytes. Consider 1 serving of Optimal Electrolyte and have her SIP it - do not chug it. I also believe she may do well with 1/2 - 1 lozenge of Glutathione Plus Lozenges in the morning and possibly again later in the day to support healthy glutathione levels.* She may do well with 1 capsule of Gallbladder Nutrients before dinner. I essentially start almost everyone on this supplement as healthy bile production and flow is so incredibly overlooked and much needed.* In health, |
| I am ordering a multi vitamin for my husband. He does not know if he has MTHFR mutation. Should I order him the regular multi vitamin or the multivitamin one MF? Thanks! | Hi Christine - I'd get him Optimal Man. Have him take 2 capsules of Optimal Man with breakfast. Start here - do not take all 4 capsules which is 1 serving. This is a more comprehensive multivitamin for him and men are really appreciating how they feel while taking it. Plus, it's a great name which helps them take it ;) I find that most men need only 2 capsules with a protein based breakfast. In the event he feels tired in the early afternoon, have him take another 1-2 capsules with lunch. Do not take within 6 hours or so of bed time as it may interfere with his sleep. I also recommend getting him Optimal Electrolyte. Have him sip a serving in his water bottle throughout the day - or a glass while he is resting at home. Do not chug it. Enjoy the results ;) He's fortunate to have you watching out for him. In health, |
| I'm wondering why vitamin C and copper were left out and if I need to supplement separately? I'm guessing SOD was replacing vitamin C here but I'm heterozygous for SOD2 A16V, (and MTR, 4x MTRR, 2x CBS, CYP1A2 164A>C, CYP1B1 N453S) and homozygous for: MTHFR C677T, VDR BSM, MAO-A R297R, SHMT1 C1420T, COMT V158M & H62H, CYP1B1 L432V, NAT2 I114T, NAT2 K268R. What would you recommend for me? I have low energy physically and mentally (I'm bipolar type 2) and have a hard time falling asleep but especially staying asleep. Thank you so much! | Hi Dez - Vitamin C was left out because it's bulky and I wanted to get the suggested serving size to 1 capsule. If adding vitamin C, it would have been 2 capsules a day per serving. Copper was not added because it is more pro-inflammatory and can lead to oxidative stress. I suspect you may fall asleep well with Histamine Nutrients before bed along with Serotonin Nutrients to support healthy duration of sleep.* If waking up too early, finding yourself having to get up and pee in the middle of the night and imbalanced blood sugar levels, consider Adrenal Cortex to support healthy energy and healthy blood sugar levels.* Take 1 capsule of Adrenal Cortex with breakfast only on mornings you need more support and do not take it when you have a good night's sleep. Blood sugar balance is very important to support those experiencing highs and lows in moods. Often times it's reactive hypoglycemia that's the problem despite people calling it bipolar. "More than half of BD patients in the studied group had impaired glucose metabolism i.e., type 2 diabetes, impaired fasting glucose level and/or insulin resistance. Our study assessing insulin resistance with TyG index in euthymic BD patients showed its high sensitivity and specificity for insulin resistance detection. As the TyG index is widely available and inexpensive, we hope that our findings would add some practical knowledge to everyday mental health care practice, and encourage psychiatrists to screen for glucose metabolism disturbances with this simple method." Be sure you start your day with a protein-based breakfast like eggs, sausages or a protein smoothie with collagen or goat whey protein and berries. In health, |
| Dear Dr. Lynch. We need some help, PLEASE. We are unsure of what supplements to give our son with the many different concerns that he has: - ASD -ADHD -High Lipoprotein (A) - currently 250, and he is only 14. -Methyl sensitivity: high amount of genetic markers for sensitivity to methylated folate and B12 -Carnitine deficiency: Since age 2. It was in single digits when younger. Needs supplementation to keep plasma levels, unsure if primary or secondary, recently fell off range when supplement brand was changed. Will start Seeking health brand tomorrow. Levels are still out of range with 500 mg a day. -MTHFR C677T -SLOW COMT -FAST MAO -Elevated 3-OH-butyric acid in recent OAT (5) -Struggles with falling and staying asleep (goes to sleep after 3 AM) -Overactive brain (can't shut thoughts off per his own words), extreme trouble with focus during school work 9homeschooled), low ability to handle stress. We tried your Optimal focus supplement, and it did not help at all., not sure if because of slow COMT. We recently changed from methylated vitamins to non methyl. This is what he is currently taking: Daily: Seeking Health Multi One MF, D3/K2 (5000 IU & 100mc, needed due to D deficiency and mutation), Seeking Health Acetyl L Carnitine 500 mg, twice a day (switching to your brand today due to low plasma levels with other brand), Omega 3 fish oil (800 mg EPA total, 600 mg DHA total), (1) GABA 750 mg (is this too high? was taking ltheanine before, but read theanine is a methyl donor and should be avoided with slow COMT), (1) COQ10 100 mg (plasma levels were at bottom of range without supplementation & to support cardiovascular health and high Lp(a)}, Vitamin C 1000 mg, Calcium magnesium 250 mg (dairy free diet, no source of calcium),Magnesium citrate 400 mg (constipation/mood) -Supplements given 3 times per week: (1) zinc picolinate 15 mg, (1) copper 2 mg (to balance zinc ratio, and MF multi has no copper), L-glutathione reduced 500 mg (for detox, not sure if interferes with slow COMT and should be stopped), (1) Seeking health folinic acid (given in addition to folinic acid in MF one Multi- is this too much folinic acid, is the amount in multi enough?). Should iron be added since he is a boy? There's none in the MF multi. His diet is very restricted due to ASD sensory: mostly chicken, organic baked fries, tangerines, plant based protein bars, and organic chips. He gets red meat twice per week due to high lp(a) and cardiovascular concerns. Should he take phosphatadylcholine? Is it a methyl donor that can affect slow COMT? His max function labs stated he has homozyneous for phosphatidyl choline deficiency What supplements should be avoided for people with slow COMT, fast MAO, and MHTFR c677t? Are the following methyl donor to be avoided: carnitine, choline, gaba, Same, methylated vitamins, NAC, quercetin, theanine, melatonin, 5htp, glutathione? HELP please.
