Multivitamin One Dr. Lynch Q&AUpdated 4 hours ago

Should I switch to this multivitamin now that I am postpartum, or continue the prenatal? Do you have a postnatal vitamin? | If you are breastfeeding, you require the same high potency nutritional needs as you did during pregnancy. For this reason, we recommend using either Prenatal Essentials or Optimal Prenatal. I do prefer Optimal Prenatal for postpartum breastfeeding support as it provides choline and additional magnesium, calcium and other ingredients which are highly required during this time. For postpartum support, consider:

Why the change from PQQ to Glutathione? Are there any side affects to be aware of from S-Acetyl L-Glutathione? | We changed it so we can offer our products internationally. The low amount of glutathione in this supplement will not cause side effects. In health, |
I just bought this. I have been taking B Minus daily for the last year. I see the Multi One has all of the B vitamins that are in B Minus. I don't know if I should take them both, or alternate days., then over time let the B Minus run out and just take the Multi One. I am 84 yrs old, female, 5'3", 105 lb, and would like more energy. Thank you for your help! | I'm happy you asked. Definitely do NOT take both. That is way too much. You may consider:
More energy is not only B vitamins. There's a lot there. I have a few things for you to consider:

Hello, my son who is almost 14, 5'7 and 125lbs has been taking 1 Multivitamin One a day with his high protein breakfast for almost a year now. He is very active in track, basketball, and cross country. This past month he has seemed irritable and he is hating school more than normal even though he is a straight A student. I am wondering if the vitamin is not right for him or if its just teenager years coming on strong. LOL. He does seem fidgety at times. He has the MTHFR and slow COMT. I also give him 3mg of trimethylglycine for the COMT. Do you recommend another type of vitamin? | You're correct to wonder if the multivitamin is the culprit. It's not really the multivitamin - what it is the frequency in which he's taking it. I recommend pausing the Multivitamin One. In fact, what we can do is switch him over to the Multivitamin One MF and he take that every other day or every 3rd day. I trained my sons to only take a multivitamin in the morning if they are feeling drained, low mood and need some energy. If they wake up feeling good and in a good mood, then they don't take a multivitamin. Consider:
If his joints are sore, consider Joint Nutrients - 1 capsule before bed to support healthy joints.* In health, |
Dr. Ben, I lead a very healthy lifestyle. I'm a health and fitness professional and produced my own national cable fitness show for 25 years. Also, I have an advertising agency. I need your help. I have the same MTHFR C677T and A1298C mutations as you. I'm on your Multi One. My b12 levels are over 2000 and has been for many years. All of my other labs are good including my MCV and MCH is in normal range. Should I up my methyl folate (my level is 17.6 ng/ml)? I'm only getting 400 from your multi and I'm not taking over a total of 25 mcg of methyl B12 (for the past 8 months). On some days I'll take a little bit more, say 100mcg b12. I'm at a lost of what to do to reduce my high B12 serum level . | I hear you. It's nice to have all your labs buttoned up and in range. I will say that B12 is pretty varying for many people. High vitamin B12 levels may be associated with SIBO, low glutathione or low folate or high heavy metals to name a few. Evaluate if you have symptoms of SIBO or low glutathione or high heavy metals or low folate. You may want to consider:

Can you please describe symptoms of a COMT gene that is fast and a COMT gene that is slow. Can it fluctuate - I’m reading that it can. Also how to keep it in balance. Which multi vitamin would best help this situation. I had my Strat gene report reveal I have this, however I’m still trying to understand this. Perimenopause i had heavy periods SEVERE PMS. Now post menopause full hysterectomy. Sometimes green tea makes me feel better and other times it bothers me. I try to eat a vegan diet because I’m also concerned about cardiology health but noticed I feel agitated if I don’t include protein in my diet. Ive been buying your supplements for a long time now trying different things to dose based on your book. Can you please go over basics of the COMT gene? Thank you, Dr. Lynch. | We have a great informative guide coming out soon which will be on the Dopamine Nutrients page. In short, yes, dopamine levels can absolutely fluctuate - by the day, by the hour, and especially during 'that time of month' due to estrogen spiking and plummeting within a short period of time. A bit before ovulation, you're focused, motivated, great libido and in a good mood. Then, nearer to ovulation, you're a train wreck - irritable, sore breasts, can't sleep, headaches. Then after ovulation and start of menses, you're sad, unmotivated, low libido and can't think. This all has to do with the relationship of estrogen to dopamine. As estrogen rises, so does dopamine - and histamine. As estrogen falls, so does dopamine and histamine. Green tea slows down COMT which increases estrogen and dopamine. So you need to time it with how you're feeling. Use green tea only on days where you are unmotivated, tired, low libido and can't think. On days that are generally good, skip it. Vegan diet is tough to get the necessary and healthy forms of protein in. Very hard. I'm honestly not a fan of vegan or vegetarian eating styles. I understand the animal side of things - not wanting to kill them - but in terms of our health, eating meat is what we're designed to do - and we feel great when we do - for most of us. Some of us can do well with this eating style but most cannot. The COMT gene needs:
I discuss it pretty well in the book. The key is knowing you can switch from Fast to Slow COMT the same DAY - depending on what's going on, what you're eating, what supplements you're taking. For example FAST COMT:

Is the Multivitamin One Safe to give a 12 year old? The children’s pill multivitamin is no longer available on the website and kids would rather swallow a pill than do a chewable. There doesn’t seem to be a good pill option for kids? Thanks for the guidance. | You're not the only mother asking. I may be making a Kids Multivitamin capsule at this point. Here's what I recommend:

Hello, Do you happen to have more information on supplementing with superoxide dismutase by chance? I can’t seem to find much on it except that it may be safe for up to 6 months when taken orally? Is there any dosing information? Can someone continue to take this long term? Also similar with PQQ. I cannot find a lot on it. Would you be able to pass along the same information as above? Finally, at these doses (for both), would there be any potential for drug interactions? Thank you very much for your time!! | It's situational. The amount of SOD in Multivitamin One is supportive - it's totally fine with medications - all good there. One needs more SOD, PQQ and glutathione if they are exercising hard and not recovering well or are struggling with inflammation and need to support healthy inflammation.* The trick with Multivitamin One is to take it when you need and skip it when you don't. You need it if you wake up feeling sluggish, brain fog and unmotivated as it supports healthy energy and healthy cognition.* If you wake up feeling good in these areas, you don't need to take the multivitamin. I highly recommend you consider:

Hi! I'm looking for a multivitamin for my 11 year old who does have the MTHFR gene mutation as well as ADHD. I feel like he might be too old for the kids multi but maybe too young for the adult multi. I just need some guidance on which one to choose. He's 76 lbs. He can swallow a pill like a champ. | Big props to him for swallowing pills like a champ! The Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF is supportive of all ages. I'd consider starting with 1/2 a chewable after his protein based breakfast. He may do well with 1 chewable. It's pretty potent. If he prefers swallowing pills vs chewing them, consider Optimal Multivitamin and he will take 1 capsule with his protein based breakfast. This way he is getting 1/8th of the adult serving size which is sufficient most likely as even for adults, I often recommend 2 capsules with breakfast and 2 with lunch - not the 8. If he is overactive and cannot sit still, consider support healthy acetylcholine levels with Kids Optimal Focus. This is arriving soon. Starting with 1 chewable of this would be a good start. Fish Oil at 1 capsule after dinner and 1/2 a Glutathione Plus Lozenge upon waking would be supportive for him as well. Since kids don't drink water often, they're often dehydrated so I'd consider giving him 1/2 to 1 serving of Optimal Electrolyte upon waking and another midday to support healthy hydration.* A hydrated brain works way better. ;) In health, |
I was going to recommend Multivitamin One for my mother, it is perfect for her and I particularly love how it has SOD. However I am concerned about the choline bitartrate increasing TMAO and increasing cardiovascular risk with her being 64. I trust your supplements so I thought you wouldn’t put anything in there you thought would cause risk, so I wanted to hear your thoughts because I haven’t found another multivitamin so perfect for her. | The whole TMAO discussion is stirred up by the creators of the TMAO test. I like the use of Multivitamin One for her as well. I'd consider her taking it every other day - not daily. I don't think she needs it daily. Make sure she takes it with a protein based breakfast - not on an empty stomach. Do not take it after 10 am as it may affect her sleep as it may provide her too much healthy energy.* Here's some information from research essentially saying that TMAO is present in all animals and all humans naturally. "We detected potential TMA-producing communities in fecal samples from all animals tested, demonstrating that this functional group is omnipresent in the gut across Mammalia. However, those bacteria occupy only a small niche as their abundance was low in all samples (mean cumulative relative abundance of ≤1.2% of total community), except for cntA which was detected at high concentrations in a few samples. In humans, a similar abundance pattern was previously observed." TMAO is produced in higher numbers by an unhealthy microbiome. If a woman has an unhealthy microbiome, she should be working to improve it. Consider ProBiota HistaminX to support a healthy microbiome.† People over the age of 50 should use Optimal Focus periodically as well to support healthy focus, healthy memory and healthy muscle function.* Consider 1 capsule a few days a week and she can take it on the off days when not using Multivitamin One. The Kids Multivitamin capsules were discontinued. My two boys, aged 9 and 13, tried the Multivitamin Chewables, but did not like them as they prefer taking a capsule form. I am looking for an alternative. What multivitamin capsule do you recommend for children my sons' ages? Would Multivitamin One be too strong for them? Would you recommend every other day or every two days for dosage? With the Kids Multi, I was able to administer the capsules in different serving amounts, appropriate to their ages. Please bring it back. We loved it! | I hear you. I'm gathering feedback from our customers. If we have enough interest, I'll bring it back ;) Multivitamin One would be too strong. Thus, a good way to support them is use Optimal Multivitamin. Give them 1 capsule with a protein based breakfast and that should treat them quite well. Some days they may find they want another capsule around lunch time or they may want 2 capsules with breakfast. That said, 1 capsule should be sufficient most days. This way they're getting a comprehensive multivitamin but it's not excessively potent. In health, |
This week, I tried your Multivitamin One supplement and twice had an allergic reaction (burning skin and hives on face, neck, chest, hands, knees, and elbows) despite being on medications to stabilize mast cell disease. I'm 100% sure it was this product because when I removed it from my pillbox yesterday, the reaction did not occur; it was also the only new thing I introduced this week. I saw some online reviews (on Amazon) from several people reporting very similar reactions. I've been combing through the ingredients in this product trying to figure out what the culprit might be so I can avoid ever ingesting it again. If you've received similar comments, do you know which ingredients might have the potential to cause allergic reactions? I've taken multivitamins for years without problems. Thank you! | That's a niacin flush. It's not an allergy. One must take our multivitamins with a MEAL - not just a snack or empty stomach. Our multivitamins are actually potent and effective which is why one may have a flush - especially if not taking them with a meal. Most multivitamins use non-flushing niacin which is still a good form of niacin but I don't think it's as good as the flushing form. One does not flush from niacin if they take it with a meal. Or at least WAY less likely. In health, |
This product seems almost ideal for what I am looking for in a multi, except for the lack of a small amount of copper (say 1mg) to balance the 10mg zinc. Would it be possible to help me understand why copper was omitted from this product please as the absence of copper is making me lean toward a competitors product and understanding the decision might help me make the right choice. | Copper is typically not deficient in most people which is why I didn't include it. Copper can actually be inflammatory in some people which is another reason. You can take a look at Optimal Man or Multivitamin Plus. In health, |
I need help- can you explain the difference between multi one and multi PLUS, other than the obvious? What are good indicators of which one you need? We definitely like your multis. | Fair question. I base it on how thorough you want support. The Multivitamin Plus is awesome because it covers so many things. You can also just take 2 capsules with breakfast and 2 with lunch vs taking the full serving size. I often do that with Optimal Man. I usually take 2 capsules with breakfast and skip the 2 capsules for lunch. I also like the Multivitamin Plus because you can regulate how much nutritional support you need by taking more capsules or less capsules. With Multivitamin One, it's a great multivitamin that's ready to go in 1 easy to swallow capsule for the day. While this is awesome, it can be too powerful for some people. I often recommend using Multivitamin One just 3 days a week as it is so supportive of healthy overall energy and mood.* This is also excellent for those who do not need the additional support that the Multivitamin Plus provides. My 16 year daughter is extremely bright but very ADHD and needs support to slow down and be able to focus at school and homework. She has 1 MTHFR 677 and COMT 6269 GG (fast, right?). She is highly addictive/distracted/impulsive. What supplements can be added to multivitamin one to help her focusing issues without overdoing it? Optimal focus, lithium orotate, glutathione plus? She tends to get congested easily and has asthma type responses to long distance running so I don't want to aggravate those symptoms with supplements. I love your podcasts, have tried folinic acid/B12 but wanting to do what works best for a teen (125 lbs) | I'm filling in for Dr. Lynch to answer the influx of questions we are getting. And yes, his podcasts are great :). It sounds like your daughter has an imbalance between her dopamine and norepinephrine neurotransmitter levels, which is quite typical for ADHD. It also sounds like she may have high histamine symptoms such as exercise-induced asthma. On top of the Multivitamin One I would suggest: Try these first. Then Optimal Focus if still needed. On a side-note: When it comes to the COMT gene, haplotypes are more accurate than single polymorphisms. At StrateGene we look at a well-researched 4 SNP COMT haplotype to determine its speed, so I'm not sure I would put too much faith in just COMT 6269 GG. Below is an article that may explain it better: All the best! Regards, |
My son is almost 9 and 75lbs. He had been taking your kids multi in the capsules. He prefers the capsules over a chewable at this point. I see that’s no longer available. I was told to ask if he is able to take this adult multi or not. | I recommend he use the Multivitamin Plus and take 1 to 2 capsules with his protein based breakfast. The Multivitamin One will be too strong for him. The Multivitamin Plus is perfect because it is an 8 capsule per serving and he can take just 1 to 2 capsules with breakfast and get what he needs. In health, |
Dr.Lynch, I had the pleasure of speaking with Rachel today 😀 Very pleasant lady . She gave me this link . Iam 60 yes old I know through bloodwork that I have 1 of the MTHFR genes .I am about 50 lb. overweight iam fatigued alot and my muscles seem to always be sore . I have high blood pressure which I take losartan for that 100mgs and Armour thyroid 15mgs 3 times a week . My question which supplement or supplements would you recommend I start with. I was so excited when I came across your products because not many Dr. know anything about MTHFR . Can't wait to hear from you and try your products . | Rachel is great ;) Happy to help with some foundational suggestions. Consider:
Start here. I don't want you taking a multivitamin out of the gate. It's too stimulating. The above is a more successful approach. Touch base as needed to follow up on what's improved and what still needs help. In health, |
Does this product cause acne breakouts? My skin seems to have worsened after taking this for the past few weeks. | It may yes due to the folate and B12 and some other nutrients. If you're looking for a multivitamin that supports you overall and healthy skin, consider Skin Nutrients.* Skin Nutrients is a multivitamin designed for those with problem skin as it supports healthy skin.* In health, |
Hi, My daughter is having a baby very soon. She suffered with severe post natal depression after her 1st pregnancy - can you recommend a multivitamin that might help support her after the baby is born? I don't know her genetics but she has had some health issues and her gall bladder removed about 18 months ago, I think she may be on the sensitive side! Thank you | Good for you being there to support her. During pregnancy, a woman has significantly higher estrogen levels. Then, after pregnancy, the estrogen levels just plummet like a rocket causing lower dopamine. Consider this after delivery and during breastfeeding:
This should help immensely for her. Congratulations on another grandchild! :) In health, |
Hi Dr. Lynch, I listened to one of your podcasts where you mentioned giving your son, who had some learning problems, an acetylcholine supplement. My daughter has ADHD (more inattentive than hyperactive) and learning difficulties (dyslexia). What type of vitamins would you recommend? Im already given her magnesium, B-12, B-6, D-K, zinc, and fish oil. Should I give her the multi vitamin? Optimal focus? In need for your guidance. Thank you! | I recommend a combination of:
I would stop all the other supplements you are giving her EXCEPT the Fish Oil. Keep giving that after dinner. Be sure she is off her phone at night in bed - and put phone on airplane mode. WiFi needs to be turned off in the house as well before bed. You can plug in your WiFi router into a christmas tree timer to turn on and off your WiFi based on the times you choose. In health, |
I read that you recommend phosphatidylcholine and wondered why you use choline bitartrate in this supplement. I don’t eat meat or eggs and have the MTHFR mutation as well as others. Would this form of choline work for me? Thanks!! | Choline bitartrate is a great choline nutrient that is easy to use in powder form. Phosphatidylcholine, as found in our Optimal PC, is very sticky and gelatinous which cannot be put into a capsule. I recommend considering:

Can this be given to a 110 Lb 11-year-old child? I know my child will not take the children chewable. Also, what is the size of the pill? | This is too strong for your kids. I recommend considering Multivitamin Plus and taking 1 capsule of this for your kids. I recommend this because it is 8 capsules per serving and they would be getting 1/8th of the serving size. It's a great combination of nutrients. The capsules are somewhat on the large end but many kids should be able to swallow it. Worst case scenario, you can open a capsule and put the contents in a bite of organic applesauce or so. In health, |
I'm a 29 year old female who is sensitive to the niacin in this multivitamin, even when taking with food. Do you have any tips that I can try to limit the flushing reaction? I have learned to hold off on the hot coffee for at least fifteen to thirty minutes to limit the reaction, but some days I still flush regardless. | I recommend taking it with a protein based meal - and breakfast or lunch is best. Have some meat with it. Niacin flushing also tends to go away after a few times of taking the supplement. The body can only flush so much for various reasons. Flushing is a healthy response to niacin. In health, |
Hi Dr. Lynch- My question is about vitamin E. I am sure you're aware of the study on Vitamin E supplementation as it relates to GSTP1 rs1695 variants.. "ONLY G/G expression benefits from low dose vit E supplementation. Those with A/A and A/G expression do not benefit from vit E supplementation and it will increase IL-6 inflammatory response, and overall oxidative stress."......thoughts on this? I am AG and have been told that supplementing vitamin E is bad for me. Yet I wanted to include it for estrogen dominance....I see it is in your products, so you must have an opinion on this study, which I see flaws in....thanks for weighing in!!! | Great question. I'll say this: Your body is complex with 18,000 genes operating with each other and all demanding different things at different times in healthy amounts. If we deprive one enzyme of a particular nutrient, then other enzymes that depend on it fail to perform. We have to look at the body from the 100,000 foot view at times and not microscopically. In this situation, vitamin E should be used and used in a healthy amount - as found in this multivitamin. I recommend using the Multivitamin One on days where you need healthy energy, healthy mood and healthy cognitive function.* Skip it on days when you wake up quite rested and ready to go. I have found that most people do well with taking this every other day or just a few days a week with a protein-based breakfast. For estrogen dominance, consider supporting healthy estrogen levels with DIM+I3C. Take 1 after dinner. I'd also consider taking 2 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients before dinner to support healthy bile production and healthy bile flow.* This is essential for healthy estrogen levels, healthy sleep and healthy mood - and healthy bowel movements.* In health, |
The Multivitamin One seems to frequently be out of stock. Can you explain why that is? | The demand for it skyrocketed and our wholesale distribution channels took a lot of it. We have more coming very soon. It's in our warehouse waiting for 3rd party testing results. In health, |
Dear Sir or Madam: Recently I watched a youtube clip about vitamin B12. In the video, the gentleman was talking about a synthetic form of B12 called Cyanocobalamin. He mentioned that Cyanocobalamin is derived from sewage sludge. And when I Googled it, sure enough, Google says Cyanocobalamin can be compounded from sewage sludge. I then looked at my bottle of SeekingHealth Multi One. The bottle says the form of B12 you use is MECOBALACTIVE. So again, I asked Google... does MECOBALACTIVE contain Cyanocobalamin? And this was the answer: "Yes, MecobalActive, an active form of vitamin B12, is made from cyanocobalamin through a proprietary fermentation process. Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of vitamin B12 that's not found in nature. When it enters the body, it's converted into methylcobalamin or adenosylcobalamin, which are the two active forms of vitamin B12 in humans. Since I am clearly no expert, can you let me know how to decipher this information? | MecobalActive is methylcobalamin. In health, |
Can I open the capsule and consume the contents via liquid? I’m having a hard timing swallowing it. | I recommend using the Kids Multivitamin Chewable instead. This way you get the nutrients you need in the way you want them. You can open the capsule of Multivitamin One and mix in a bite of food but it will taste horribly. 1 of the Kids Multivitamin Chewable provides significant amount of nutrients. Then you can take another 1 chewable at lunch. Or, if you like, you can take 2 chewables with breakfast. Here is the Kids Multivitamin Chewable In health, |
Can I take the Multivitamin One product in addition to the vitamin D3 +K2 drops to supplement low vitamin D blood levels? | Yes you may. Take the D3+K2 with food - any time of day or night. Whatever you prefer. In health, |
