Can this help with exposure to mold in your environment? I am also highly sensitive to alcohol and will get a headache minutes after having a sip of alcohol. I also have slightly low estrogen and progesterone but it's within range, is this suitable for me do you think? | Hi Hayley - It's a pretty good idea but I don't think it's the main issue. Consider instead:
Molybdenum may be a good addition to take especially if you're drinking wine and/or consuming high sulfite or high sulfur containing foods. You'd take 1 capsule any time of day after some food. In health, |
I know that I have sulfur issues but when I take Molybdenum I get even worse bloating and mood changes. Can molybdenum cause a herx? All I see is people talking about it making them feel amazing immediately. Thanks! | Hi Stacey - I'm not sure why you'd feel this way from molybdenum. Are you taking it with food? It's a mineral so one should always take minerals with food. In health, |
I have a high allergy to both Sulfites in food and also sulphur in medication or face and body products. I avoid sulfite foods which cause bloating and gas but would like to introduce some back in for health reasons. The reviews seem very positive in this regard. My main concern is the sulphur reaction I get. I avoid anything that states sulphur or sulfites as far as supplements and face/body products. I get a red itchy rash all over my body which lasts 3 months if taken. This product looks like it wouldn’t give me that reaction and I understand there is no guarantee but based on the information above do you think this supplement would help me? I see in the reviews no one else seems to have come out in a rash but I also know that being allergic to both sulfites and sulphur is more rare than one or the other. | Hi Sarah - Based on the information you provided here I believe that Molybdenum would be a good choice for you. Many of my clients have been able to re-introduce sulfur-based foods and supplements back after taking molybdenum. I have not personally encountered anyone who got a rash from it. You can open the capsule and first take a smaller dose such as 1/4 capsule if you want to try it out first. Let us know how you go :). Regards, |
Is it true molybdenum is a copper antagonist? Does it prevent copper absorption/remove copper from the body? I have read from many sources that it does. I have low copper and took what seemed to be a food based molybdenum supplement and experienced a negative reaction. It really seemed to fatigue me from what I can remember. I took it for serious sulfur intolerance, where I can't eat any cruciferous vegetables, garlic, onion, take the sulfur b vitamins, etc. All make me feel like trash. Fatigue, serious brain fog, irritability, anxiety, etc. I was hoping to use it as a solution, but I'm not keen on making myself worse. Also, I might add that I'm pretty sure that I have the double mthfr gene. So, I think that plays a big part in my inability to correctly process sulfur. Any information and advice on this would be appreciated. It has been complete hell avoiding all of these foods and supplements. | Hi Anthony - Molybdenum may exacerbate a copper deficiency yes by increasing copper excretion via the urine. It also can combine with copper in the gut and make a complex thereby preventing absorption. We just sold out of Calcium D Glucarate but that is what I recommend you consider taking 1 capsule of this after dinner. I also suggest you consider getting a stool test and seeing if there are any hydrogen sulfide producing bacteria that need to be dealt with. Additionally:
You may do well with Ox Bile as well. Consider taking that with meals and possibly even 1 capsule right before bed. In health, |
I saw on Instagram you posted that Molybdenum can help dark circle under the eyes. My son has dark circles under his eyes and has hetero MTHFR C677T and Comt ++. Do you think this would help bring down the dark circles under his eyes? Also, what would be causing this? He has had this for years. | Hi Carey - I'm stepping in for Dr. Lynch to help answer the influx of questions we're receiving. There are a variety of factors that could contribute to dark circles under the eyes: Molybdenum helps with sulfur intolerance. Try him on 1 capsule a day with food and see how he goes. The next option would be Histamine Digest. Take 1 capsule with meals. If this does not resolve the dark circles under his eyes, consider the other factors above. Regards, |
Is it safe to take this every day? | Hi Amy - It is if needed. If not needed, then don't use it. What you need to watch for is high uric acid levels - symptoms of joint pain or 'gout' if taking too much. You need molybdenum if you need healthy support for sulfur metabolism.* If you smell sulfur in your body, armpits, gas, stool, urine, loose stools or worse from sulfur foods or sulfur supplements, then yes, use Molybdenum to support healthy sulfur metabolism.* In health, |
I was just watching your podcast with Mikala Peterson. I suffer from awful migraines. I have the homozygous C677t mutation. I am currently eating a Ketovore diet but I am afraid the cruciferous vegetables and the meat are adding to my sulfur load and making my condition worse. I believe in your work and I have bought so many of your supplements (including several forms of B12) but they haven’t improved my migraines (all B12 gives me worse migraines). Do you think molybdenum would help me? Or do you have any other recommendations? Thank you! | Hi Nicole - I think you are correct about the high sulfur. I'd consider Molybdenum if you are smelling rotten eggs or high sulfur in your breath, arm pits, pee or stools or having loose stools after eating sulfur or meat as molybdenum supports healthy sulfur metabolism.* A few things: Work with your health professional to identify how your hormones are doing. Sudden estrogen drops is associated with migraines as is a progesterone deficiency. You may need some hormone replacement therapy. High estrogen levels may also be associated with migraines but it is mainly the big drops in estrogen that do. However, with homozygous C677T MTHFR, you are more prone to higher inflammatory estrogens than one without a MTHFR variation. If your estrogen levels are elevated, consider supporting healthy estrogen levels with DIM+I3C and Calcium-D-Glucarate - or using these days 8 through 14 as these are the days of high estrogen. By monitoring the peaks and troughs of estrogen, you are reducing the large declines of estrogen and thus estrogen-associated migraines. B12 increases histamine in some people and histamine is also associated with migraines. Consider Histamine Nutrients during the day and again before bed to support healthy histamine levels.* I'd also consider using Histamine Digest during meals that have higher histamine content like aged meats, cheese, wine, fish and citrus fruits to name a few. Hydrate. High sodium electrolytes are problematic for those with migraines most often. Thus, using an electrolyte that is balanced with more potassium and lower sodium is recommended - along with higher magnesium. Optimal Electrolyte supports this. I'd consider drinking 1 to 3 servings a day of Optimal Electrolyte. Sip it over time - do not chug it unless you are exercising hard. In health, |
Will this help for someone with CBS SNPs? I’d love to support my liver and gallbladder by taking glutathione and your gallbladder/ liver nutrients but they all contain sulfur ingredients. Thank you! | Hi Trisha - Yes, molybdenum is supportive of those with sulfur sensitivities - regardless if having a CBS SNP or not. Some people may have a CBS SNP and be just fine. Others may not have a CBS SNP and need molybdenum in a big way. I'd have this handy while taking the supplements you mentioned above. I'd also consider using Glutathione Plus Lozenges - and start with 1/2 lozenge. This lower potency may be perfect for you. In health, |
Hello, are there any co factors that are to be taken along with Seeking Health Molybdenum, 500 mcg, 90 Vegetarian Capsules? The dosage seems huge, is it supposed to be taken every other day or once a week? how long can I take it safely while avoiding overdosing? I recently came to know about nutrients being antagonists to each other especially minerals I was wondering if you have the list of antagonists so that I can improve my knowledge and supplementation routine by adding something left out or out of balance. I'm planning to take vitamin C, copper, molybdenum, manganese, chromium, boron (trace minerals) for hair issues and gut/digestive health. Thanks, Mateen | Hi Mateen - I hear you. This is why multivitamins are favored by many people as they are broad spectrum support. I do not think Molybdenum is going to give you want you want. Consider Optimal Man which is a multivitamin for men. It has all the nutrients you are seeking in quality amounts. Start with 1-2 capsules with breakfast and 1-2 capsules with lunch. Serving size is 4 capsules. For gut health, consider 1 capsule of ProBiota HistaminX after dinner to support a healthy microbiome.* Additionally, consider 2 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients before dinner to support healthy bile production and bile flow.* This is a very commonly overlooked area of gut health and is extremely important and fundamental. If you got sulfur smelling gas could molybdenum help? Armpit smells like onion. Also can you take this while breastfeeding? When I eat more protein I start smells like rotten eggs. And I can't tolerate brain nutrients so well, could it be glutathione? Maybe im low in molybdenum? Saw this I the dirty genes book, love it. I've also read that molybdenum could help with morning sickness in pregnancy, but is it safe during pregnancy? Thanks Ben, your the best and I'm so grateful that you're taking your time to help us out! | Hi Anna - Yes - well done. Healthy sulfur metabolism is supported by molybdenum.* That said, I suspect the sulfur is deeper than just a deficiency of molybdenum. I suspect it's more liver related. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are very demanding times and put a lot of pressure on your liver. Sulfur metabolism is also supported by the glucoronidation pathway which is supported by Calcium-D-Glucarate. You would take 1 capsule of Calcium-D-Glucarate after dinner. Gallbladder Nutrients may be supportive of healthy sulfur metabolism as well. An unhealthy, more sulfur producing bacteria may be present so this would support a more healthy microbiome along with ProBiota HistaminX.* You would take 2 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients before dinner and 1 capsule of ProBiota HistaminX after dinner. You can use all of these while breastfeeding. You can use only Molybdenum while pregnant. To substitute the other supplements while pregnant, Optimal PC can be used and is supportive of healthy bile production, bile flow and milk from (from the breast).* Histamine Digest is my main recommendation to support a women who is struggling with intermittent morning sickness as it supports healthy histamine levels.* This can be used any time - while pregnant or not. High histamine is a main contributor to the morning sickness feeling. In health, |
