Magnesium Malate Powder Dr. Lynch Q&AUpdated 4 hours ago

†These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Question
Answer

The elemental magnesium is 500mg per 1 scoop?

Hi Rares -

Correct.

We always state elemental in our supplement facts panel.

If you see Magnesium (..... ) - XXX mg - then you know it has to be stated as elemental.

If you see Magnesium Malate - XXX mg - without any (...) - then you know it's likely NOT claiming elemental and it's tricking the consumer.

I would like to know how the malic acid within the Magnesium Malate is synthesized. I know there are many different methods typically used, (natural fruit extraction, bacterial fermentation) to name a few. I am curious as to what is used for your product. Thank you!

Hello Stefan,

The Magnesium Malate is a fully synthetic material, and the malic acid processing method, uses a synthetic reaction process. We use this particular material for its quality, absorption and utilization in the body.

What is the difference between Mag Malate and Mag Glycenate? I’d like to take a Mag supplement now that I am Perimenopausal, just not sure which.

Hi Isabel -

The term that comes after magnesium defines which compound the magnesium is bound to.

Magnesium malate is magnesium bound to malate or malic acid.

This is best used during the day for healthy energy support.*

Malate supports healthy energy production via the Kreb Cycle.*

Magnesium glycinate is bound to the amino acid, Glycine.

The glycine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, supports sensation of being calm, supports methylation and healthy sleep.*

This form is best used before bed.

You can use both Magnesium Malate and Magnesium Glycinate - just at different times of day.

Given that you are perimenopausal, look into progesterone creams on Amazon. Read the reviews from ladies there. Applying a bit of progesterone cream to the insides of your wrists before bed can be quite helpful.

Is there a potential that the malic acid can harm enamel since the powder is coming in contact with teeth?

Hi Tiffany -

Our teeth are exposed to acids throughout the day all day.

The key is to make sure you don't end your last sip of something acidic and have it stay there.

Sip some filtered water after drinking or eating anything acidic.

Plus, the oral microbiome is more important to healthy oral pH than the food we eat and drinks we drink.

That said, I still recommend drinking a couple sips of filtered water after drinking anything that's acidic.

Kombucha is very popular these days and is extremely acidic. I have heard dentists say this is the worst one out there. They mention the same support as I have - drink some filtered water after enjoying your kombucha.

My husband has a feeding tube. Wondering if I can use this product (which I’ve already purchased)

Hi Marcia -

Yes he may.

I'd mix in water first. May be obvious but wanted to be clear. :)

Hello! I have a question about the acidity level of this product and its effect on teeth. Since this product contains malic acid and is in a powdered form, is it ok to drink daily and expose your teeth enamel to it? Thank you!

Hi Amanda -

Good question.

Yes, you may drink daily. Many things are acidic - protein, milk, kombucha, vitamin C, lemons, citrus in general.

I recommend simply drinking and swishing a few sips of water after drinking if you feel you need to.

Healthy teeth are not going to be negatively affected by intermittent low pH exposure. It's constant low pH that is the problem.

What is the size of the scoop? I would like to be able to divide the dose down for a child but need to know if the scoop is 1/2tsp or 1tsp because I saw people say both on Amazon.

Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to inform you regarding the scoop size included with our Magnesium Glycinate powder. The scoop is approximately equivalent to 1 teaspoon (Tsp). Please ensure you follow the recommended dosage or as advised by your healthcare professional.
