Magnesium Malate Chewable Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated 4 hours ago

Question
Answer
Hi! My son (6.5) has been having difficulty falling asleep since he turned 5. He used to sleep 12+ hours per night. He falls asleep easily now if I give him 300mcg of melatonin at 7pm. He is asleep by 9pm. I'm looking into other and possibly better ways to calm his nervous system in the evening when he tends to get a little hyper! He is an extremely bright kid, always smiling and super enthusiastic. I have slow COMT and a history of anxiety and OCD. He sometimes shares his intrusive thoughts with me when falling asleep is challenging for him, and this never happens with the small dose of melatonin. I'd also love to know how to support my 4 year old and 18 month old for their overall health! My 4 year old is in perfect health. My 18 month old has very bad eczema. What's a solid foundation for them to have/how many times per week of perhaps the kids multivitamin MF and D3 + K2? I have eczema myself too but wouldn't know where to start with the probiotics for my baby and myself! I'm excited to buy all of your products! :-)

Hi Jennifer -

I'd consider adding Optimal Magnesium after dinner or before bed for him. You can also mix it in a bite of food if needed.

Make sure he's off screens and WiFi and bluetooth are off during sleep as these are stimulating to the brain - seriously. You can turn them back on in the morning.

Consider:

  • Optimal Magnesium: 1 capsule before bed
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule in the morning before meals to support healthy histamine levels - for all your kids. You may open the capsule and mix into a bite of food.
  • Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF: 1/2 a chewable three times a week
  • Histamine Digest: 1/2 a capsule for your 18 month old mixed into a bite of food during meals. 1 capsule each meal for you.
  • Bile Nutrients: 2-4 capsules before dinner for you to support healthy skin and healthy estrogen levels.* Do this say 4 days a week.
  • Fish Oil: it's a large capsule but after dinner is great. I am working on getting another one made with smaller capsules.
  • Histamine Nutrients: 1 capsule before bed for your son who is difficulty falling asleep as this supports healthy histamine levels.* High histamine leads to increased alertness.

It's ok to use the melatonin nightly or as needed for your son.

Right now, I take magnesium oxide in a chewable form. What form of your magnesium would be best for me to take that does not involve swallowing pills? I am unable to swallow pills, but would like a good quality magnesium to help with heart palpitations. My cardiologist had recommended oxide at one point, but I am curious what the differences are.

Hi Kendra -

Magnesium oxide is great for having bowel movements because it's so poorly absorbed it causes water to enter the digestive system and helps people go poo.

It's the worst form of magnesium out there otherwise.

I recommend using our Optimal Electrolyte as it's supportive for healthy magnesium levels (uses magnesium malate 125 mg per serving) along with potassium, taurine, creatine as these are very supportive nutrients for your heart.

Consider:

  • Glutathione Plus Lozenges: 1/2 a lozenge upon waking to support a healthy heart.*
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking and another serving midday to support a healthy heart and healthy hydration.*

This should make a noticeable difference in a day I'd imagine.

Hey Dr. Lynch, Can this be taken with Magnesium Threonate and Magnesium Glycinate Chelate? At different times of day or at the same time? Thanks!

Hi Cyn -

Yes they can.

I recommend switching up the time periods. Consider Magnesium Malate before exercise, Mag Threonate before bed and Mag Glycinate any time of day - before bed, too

Is this 100 chewable tablets or 30?

Hi Cindy -

It's 100.

The label on the main image will get updated.

Thank you for asking
