Liver Nutrients Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated 3 hours ago

Question
Answer
Hi Dr Lynch, My wife suffers from chronic migraines that we think are hormone / stress related (possible estrogen dominance). How does one decide if Liver Nutrients or Bile Nutrients is better for this issue for a 32 year old female? Also, how can you tell if migraines / headaches are more hormone based or histamine related? Thank you in advance.

Hi Paul -

Great question.

You can tell if hormone based if:

  • testing hormone levels and the estrogen levels are high
  • if symptoms occur or are worse prior to ovulation and then improve after ovulation

Histamine related migraines:

  • are also associated with high estrogen so can be a combination
  • if not related to high estrogen, histamine based headaches are typically worse after meals, exercise or exposure to allergens or stress - factors that increase histamine essentially

I believe I wrote a pretty detailed response for you yesterday which was targeting healthy estrogen levels based on her other symptoms.

I'd focus on those recommendations. I don't think either Liver Nutrients or Bile Nutrients is the choice here. I think the healthy estrogen support is the key via DIM and Cal D Glucarate.

To answer your question, I do think the Bile Nutrients is a better choice over the Liver Nutrients as it is a more comprehensive formulation. Low bile production and bile flow is a common issue in high hormones and high histamine.

Hi Dr Lynch, I recently was told I have hyperkinetic gallbladder. I am trying to save it even though the surgeon says I should remove it. I also have c677t mthfr, slow COMT, and issues with my DOA gene. I was told by a functional med specialist that I have mold and possible candida. I have been having bad anxiety, low appetite, and histamine issues. I currently take the histamine digest from seeking health before meals and digestive enzymes after. Bloodwork shows low b2, homocysteine is 11, b12 is around 327, and zinc is on the lower end. I wanted to see if this supplement would help or if you have others you recommend to calm anxiety, work on supporting my liver and gallbladder, improve appetite, and help my methylation ? I just started multivitamin ONE Mf daily to get my vitamin levels up. I really appreciate any advice you have. Thank you.

Hi Terri -

A hyperkinetic gallbladder is associated with two things that I confirmed:

  • magnesium deficiency
  • high histamine

There are others I'm sure but that's a start.

I have a few things for you to consider:

  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule in the morning
  • Saccharomyces Boulardii: 1 capsule in the morning. Do for 1 bottle then stop.
  • Optimal Magnesium: 1 capsule before bed nightly.
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking and another serving midday. Drink between meals.
  • Multivitamin One MF: take 1 capsule after a protein based breakfast every other day - not daily. Too much folate and B12 may contribute to anxiousness.
  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1/2 lozenge upon waking and, if needed to support a healthy clear head, another 1/2 later in the afternoon.*
  • Lithium Orotate: 1 capsule to support healthy mood and a healthy stress response.* Take in the morning when you feel you need support. If you're in a good healthy mood, skip it.
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner. Ongoing each night.
  • Optimal PC: 1 capsule after dinner. Do for 1 month nightly then every other night for a couple weeks then twice a week after that.
  • Liver Nutrients: 1 capsule after dinner. Do nightly for a bottle then every other night after that.

This is a comprehensive approach to supporting your healthy gallbladder, healthy digestion, healthy liver, healthy mood and methylation.*

Keep me posted how you're doing ;)

I suspect you should notice changes within 2-3 days.

Hi Dr Lynch! I am 45 and seriously overweight (5’4”, 295lbs). I have yo-yo dieted for years and gained and lost weight numerous times. My gallbladder was removed in 2008. I have had elevated liver enzymes for years but my doctors never say anything about it. I also have insulin resistance, homozygous mthfr and mthfr 1298c. I am waiting to get in with a new doctor that specializes in some of this stuff but I am on a wait list. I also am histamine intolerant and possible salicylate sensitive. I am wondering besides the liver nutrients and some glutathione, what else I should be taking to help support my liver. It has been feeling inflamed and I have overall inflammation. I am working on cleaning up my diet and incorporating gentle movement into my day. Also working on stress management like breath work and EFT. I really want to support myself body through this as much as possible. I love your products and the way you share your knowledge with not just your clients but people. Thank you!! Heather

Hi Heather -

Glad you're reaching out.

Happy to help you.

First, I highly recommend working with ElizmaLambert.com - she's awesome and you can likely get started right away with her. You'll love working with her and she's very skilled.

Second, read my book Dirty Genes. Work through the Laundry Lists in there and that will help you a ton. I have great recipes from my wife in there which you'll love. The Beet Salad is great as are the Lazy Cabbage Rolls.

Dieting does not work as you found out.

What works is eating whole foods and properly digesting them.

Carbs are our downfall as is alcohol.

I'd consider going on a modified Carnivore Diet that Paul Saladino talks about:

  • meat, fruit, honey

This way you're not eating heavy foods like carbs, nuts, seeds or processed foods

In terms of supplements:

  • Acetyl L Carnitine: 2 capsules upon waking
  • ProBiota Bifido: 1 capsule upon waking
  • Saccharomyces Boulardii: 1 capsule upon waking
  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1 lozenge upon waking
  • Optimal Electrolyte: can drink this with the above supplements and another serving later in the day
  • Bile Nutrients: 4 capsules before dinner
  • Fish Oil: 1 to 2 capsules after dinner
  • Serotonin Nutrients: as needed - read the product page to see if it fits with you - at first glance I believe it does - you would consider taking 1 before bed and maybe 1 capsule in the morning after breakfast.

I am not recommending Liver Nutrients as I suggested the Glutathione and Bile Nutrients and Fish Oil first - these are better options for you right now.

Protein with each meal.
Never ever just eat carbs or coffee with a meal - that will wreck you.
Chew your food well.

Read this quick Dirty Genes Guide:

PS - Go for a brisk 10 minute walk after EACH meal -

Do not snack during the day. Three meals a day - no snacking.

Go gluten free.

Add in sauna: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0010/0250/4310/files/Sauna-ebook-REV060925.pdf?v=1749503120

If you get cravings, consider taking 1 capsule of Serotonin Nutrients to support healthy mood and appetite.*

Dear Dr. Lynch Thank you for all you are doing to help people. I am a man start 40’s, good shape. I have GSTM1 deletion as well as MTHFR 677 (CT) and 1298 (CA), a slow COMT and fut2 Gly258Ser (GG) B12 issue. My mother and Grand mother both have (had) parkinssons so I am very attentive to methylation and detox. I am taking b vitamin supplements (sometimes even b12 injections as I Can surfer from fatigue) and also DIM and Glutathione to support detox (not Seeking health though as they are not at iherb) and magnesium as well as healthy lifestyle eating mainly organic. But I am wondering if I should add Liver nutrients and maybe also Calcium D-Glucarate? I am often sore in my right side under the ribs (around the liver) and have to some degree bloating issue last part of the day, and often get very tired in the afternoon (1-2 hours after eating, even though I eat low carb / keto (although diet change to low carb has helped a bit). I suspect I need liver support, what do you think?

Hi Emil -

You're on point about the additional support - yes to the Liver Nutrients and Calcium D Glucarate.

What may be even better is:

  • Calcium D Glucarate: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Bile Nutrients: 2-4 capsules before dinner
  • Digestive Enyzme capsules: 1-2 capsules with each meal to support healthy digestion of protein, fat and carbs

This program is more in depth and supportive of healthy detoxification, bile production, bile flow and reducing the burden of fat on your liver by digestive enzymes and bile production.*

Be sure you're chewing your food really well.

Hello Dr. Lynn, I recently had a blood test that showed a high AST level of 31 and extremely low iron. I’m also dealing with a sludge gallbladder and persistent SIBO, which has been incredibly frustrating. Could you advise on how I might address these issues? Additionally, would taking liver nutrients help with fatty liver, which I suspect may be related to the SIBO? Thank you for your guidance!

Hi Nancy -

I hear you.

We are working on writing a healthy digestion guide and a leaky gut guide which are nearing completion. Keep an eye out for those.

Here are some things for you to consider:

  • consulting with a gut expert could be very helpful and save you a lot of time, frustration and money. ElizmaLambert.com is great.
  • go 100% gluten-free and 100% cow dairy free
  • you can use goat milk products
  • limit intake of fats, oils, seeds and nuts
  • chew your food very well.
  • do not drink with meals.
  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1 lozenge upon waking to support a healthy liver and detoxification.*
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking and another serving midday to support healthy hydration.* Hydration is a must to support healthy bile production and flow.*
  • Digestive Enzymes: 2 capsules with each meal.
  • Bile Nutrients: 4 capsules before dinner
  • Liver Nutrients: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Ox Bile: 1 capsule before bed

This should support you quite well. Keep me posted and I highly recommend Elizma.

Hi! I’ve been reading up on milk thistle and I’ve found that it’s not recommended for folks with ragweed allergies. My fiancé and I are both allergic to ragweed. Should we pass on taking these or should they be ok?

Hi Brandon -

I hear that, too.

I would skip it.

Instead, I'd consider:

  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1 lozenge upon waking and possibly another 1/2 later in the day. This supports healthy glutathione levels which also supports a healthy liver.*

Hi I am a 61 year old female. I need to lose weight. What would you recommend for high CRP? I have elevated cholesterol but my HDL and triglycerides are great. Recently got my liver enzymes in normal range..I did purchase glutathione plus recently. Which supplements and diet regiment would you recommend? Thank you

Hi Nancy -

Glad to hear you're doing better and looking to keep improving.

Consider:

  • Glutathione Plus: if the lozenge, take 1/2 to 1 lozenge upon waking in the morning. If a capsule, take after breakfast
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking and another midday
  • CoQ10: 1 capsule after breakfast and another capsule after lunch to support healthy CRP.*
  • Bile Nutrients: 4 capsules before dinner to support healthy cholesterol.*
  • Optimal PC: 1 capsule before bed 3 nights a week to support healthy cholesterol.*
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner to support healthy cholesterol and CRP.*
  • go 100% gluten and cow dairy free to work on lowering your CRP.

Last night I added a Liver Nutrients capsule along with my normal routine of Ashwagandha and an Optimal Magnesium. Two hours later I lay in bed trying to fall asleep and my heart is having palpitations like crazy and I did not get to sleep until 5 hours later! Was this a bad combo to take a few hours before trying to fall asleep?

Hi Laura -

Sorry to hear your sleep was trashed.

Sounds like this combination definitely does not suit you.

Let's do your usual routine before bed.

Then, let's move the Liver Nutrients and take that after a protein based breakfast or a protein based lunch.

Liver Nutrients should be taken with food and some water. The TMG and NAC can be quite drying and possibly stimulating to some people - especially the TMG and the ALA also.

That should work well ;)

Hi! I am struggling with constipation and I want to feel less bloated and uncomfortable. I am drinking 1 serving of electrolytes a day, taking glutothione, fish oil, dim, inositol (suspected PCOS), gallbladder nutrients, and skin nutrients (this really helps my hormonal acne).I am taking mag citrate as well. Am I missing something? There was one point when I was sick with covid that I began having normal bowel movements. I was taking orthoimmune, lyposomal c, glutothione, and viracid. Could any ingredients in those be beneficial? I am gluten free. Would liver nutrients be something to consider?

Hi Malorey -

I hear you.

Consider your current supplementation along with:

  • Liposomal Vitamin C: 1 tsp upon waking
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking and another midday
  • Glutathione Plus: 1/2 a lozenge upon waking
  • Digestive Enzymes: 2 capsules with each meal
  • Bile Nutrients: 2-4 capsules before dinner
  • Liver Nutrients: 1 after dinner
  • Fish Oil: 1 after dinner

This should help support healthy bowel movements.*

In 2022 I had chemotherapy for triple negative breast cancer followed by a year of a PARP inhibitor and now I’m only on tamoxifen. My ALT liver enzyme has been slightly elevated for the last year and a recent ultrasound showed hepatomegaly with severe hepatic steatosis. My diet isn’t as clean as it could be, but a lot better than most. I have mitigated most environmental toxins from my home and personal care as well over the last couple of years. Are liver nutrients safe to take along with tamoxifen and is there anything else I should take along with it to help support liver detoxification to hopefully prevent further liver injury?

Hi Amanda -

Congratulations on your recovery!

Yes, Liver Nutrients is safe to use.

Here's some things to consider:

  • Glutathione Plus lozenge: 1 lozenge upon waking to support a healthy liver and healthy detoxification.*
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 glass upon waking and another glass or two later in the day. Healthy hydration is key for a healthy liver as bile is 95% or more water.*
  • Liver Nutrients: 1 capsule after lunch and 1 capsule after dinner.
  • Bile Nutrients: 2 capsules before dinner to start and then increase to 4 capsules.
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • apply a castor oil pack over your entire abdomen at night before bed. Watch a youtube video on this.
  • limit intake of carbohydrates, nuts, seeds, fruit juices, dairy
  • enjoy fresh organic fruit, meat, eggs

Is this okay to take if you have hypoglycemia w/out diabetes? I take 4 Gallbladder Nutrients and ox bile. I have tried the histamine products and it did not help. I felt worse, as if it caused a histamine response. How can I improve constipation during mold treatment?

Hi Freddie -

Yes you may use Liver Nutrients and I agree that you should consider this supplement to support healthy mold detoxification.*

Consider:

  • Glutathione Plus: 1/2 to 1 lozenge upon waking and another 1/2 to 1 lozenge later in the day to support healthy mold detoxification.*
  • Bile Nutrients (formerly Gallbladder Nutrients): 4 capsules before dinner
  • Ox Bile: 1 capsule with dinner
  • Liver Nutrients: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking and 1 to 2 more servings midday. Hydration is absolutely essential for healthy bowel movements.
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • this histamine products could increase constipation which is likely why you felt worse. Histamine is needed to stimulate peristalsis and move stool through the bowels.

This should help you quite a bit and quickly.

Hello, What is the maximum dosis of liver nutrients per day ? I ve been taking it during the last 4 months. It helped me a lot with hustaminosis. Now im having problems with my hormones. I have migraines, bruxism, anxiety and depression a lot during menstruation. I m think to help my liver to improve detoxification of my estrogens. I’m taking liver nutrients 1 pill daily and electrolytes too. What other supplements recommend me to take?

Hi Paula -

I'm glad you're finding some success with Liver Nutrients.

I think we should not increase the dosage but rather add in additional support to approach things which may be deficient.

Consider:

  • Bile Nutrients: 2 to 4 capsules before dinner to support healthy bile production and bile flow which is important for healthy estrogen, histamine levels and bowel movements.*
  • Liver Nutrients: 1 capsule before or after dinner
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking and another serving mid day

Important:

  • Are you getting the migraines, anxiety and depression once you start menstruation? If so, that could be low dopamine or low serotonin caused by a big drop in estrogen. If so, consider Serotonin Nutrients 1 capsule on the day you start bleeding with menses to support a healthy mood and healthy blood flow.*
  • If you're getting migraines and irritability before you start menses - right around ovulation - that could be due to a big spike in estrogen. In that case, consider taking DIM+I3C for a few days before you ovulate so you have healthy estrogen levels which help have healthy moods.*

That should help a lot.

Keep me posted.

My son is 7 years old. He has Autism and has a lot of detox problems. He is very sensitive to antioxidants and detox supplements. He starts to wake up at 3am, gets rashes in his body and very anxious. Last night we start giving 1/4 of Liver nutrients and he woke up at 3am. How can I help him to support his liver and detox without a side effects?

Hi Catherine -

Autism is complex as I'm sure you know. There can be various reasons why your son may be sensitive to antioxidant and detox supplements.

It is interesting that your son is reacting to the Liver Nutrients at around 3am since 1 - 3am is 'Liver Time' according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. It may be that your son has too much yang energy and problems with his detoxification pathways (as you suggested).

From a food perspective, the following foods clear liver heat and regulate liver qi - watermelon, other melons, cucumber, celery, artichokes, bananas, kiwifruit, peaches, watercress, tofu, mung beans. However, some of these foods may not be suitable for him if he has SIBO. So it's important to work with a practitioner who can look at your son's unique biochemistry to determine what's best for him.

Also, consider whether your son may have, or had exposure to mold which could interfere with his detoxification pathways.

You could try him on Glutathione Plus Lozenge to help support his detoxification pathways. Even start him on 1/2 lozenge first.

Let us know how you go :)

Regards,
Elizma Lambert (ElizmaLambert.com)

Can I take Liver nutrients along side NAC and Glutothione lozenges? My house has mold penicillium, black mold and a few other molds. I need to detox me and my family while in process of getting it removed. I have the MTHFR homozygous mutations. Thank you so much for your time!

Hi Molly -

You can yes especially given the situation you are in currently.

I'd do these a couple times a day up to a few times a day.

Additionally:

  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 to 3 servings a day

I highly recommend jumping in a sauna as often as you can as well.

Here are my thoughts on how to sauna:

Hi! Thank you so much for the recommendations. I will reach out in a couple weeks. I checked with my doctor. I have low-normal progesterone, low estrogen and low DHEA. I have high cortisol at nights. Saccharomyces Boulardii, can be taken with Liver Nutrients? I bought progesterone cream off Amazon as suggested. I am so excited to try your below recommendations!

Hi Kristen -

I recommend using Saccharomyces Boulardii before bed and Liver Nutrients after dinner - but you can take them together as well. It is still effective.

Can you help me with the timing of my supplements? Will the Liver Nutrients interfere with the probiotics? Also, am I taking too much Niacin? I added it to help with sleep, but I wake up frequently. All supplements are from Seeking Health. Should I change anything? My liver is not working well, low hormones, and having SPLIT sleep. I want and need sleep. Wake up: Optimal Electrolytes or Pre-Workout Breakfast: L-Carnitine, Ashwagandha, Homocysteine (4X per week/ super elevated - 13), Hawthorne Lunch: Vitamin D, Taurine, Vitamin C Dinner: 2X - Gallbladder Nutrients, 2X - Zinc Carnosine, 1/2 tsp - Vitamin C After Dinner: 2X - Saccharomyces Boulardii, 1X - Women's Probiotic, 1X - Liver Nutrients, 1X - Gut Nutrients ]Bedtime : 1X - Optimal Magnesium, 2X - Phosphatidylserine, 1X - Ashwagandha, X - Niacin

Hi Kristen -

Happy to help.

If waking up frequently, there are a few factors at play. Consider:

  • Adrenal Cortex: 1 capsule with breakfast on the mornings where you wake up too frequently the prior evening. Do not take it if you slept through the night
  • Progesterone cream: get some on Amazon and apply it to your inner thigh at night before bed.
  • get hormone testing with your doctor.
  • Vitamin D3+K2: 1 capsule with any meal once a day
  • turn off Wifi and your cell phone at night
  • try stopping the niacin before bed.
  • I'd pause the women's probiotic for now as well just in case it is interfering with sleep
  • Gut Nutrients - I suspect that's the capsule version - if so - you can take it before bed. If it's the powder, you should take it upon waking in the morning.
  • Phosphatidyl Serine: if you're having difficulty falling asleep, then use this. If not, do not use it. It can lower your cortisol too much which then may make your sleep ineffective.
  • Ashwagandha: I'd stop this as well just in case. We need to reduce some variables.
  • Histamine Nutrients: if having difficulty falling asleep, consider using 1 to 2 capsules of this before bed to support healthy onset of sleep.* If not, then don't use it.

Check in a couple weeks to see how you're doing.

Can you make this in a liquid form? Many of us can’t swallow pills/capsules especially some that are big. Thanks

Hi Mari -

It won't be stable this way.

I recommend opening the capsule and putting in a bite of food. The taste should not be that bad.

Organic applesauce is a great one to use. Just need a spoonful.

Have had all the following issues for over a decade, still have gallbladder but things are very bad right now…pain under right rib, not digesting fat well, stools yellow & not form! Doc wants me on Amitiza…I want solution! All tests say normal:-/ Now 111lbs…too thin & don’t want to eat!

Hi L -

It sounds like you may need more gallbladder and stomach acid support, so I suggest Gallbladder Nutrients. I assume they didn't find any gallstones.

Take 2 capsules before dinner for the first 3 days. After 3 days take 2 capsules before lunch and before dinner.

Optimal PC at 2 capsules a day will also support healthy bile.

Add some bitters in at meal times to help stimulate stomach acid production and appetite. This could be in the form of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice in a small amount of water.

The fact that this has been going on for over a decade makes me wonder if there's something else going on. I suggest you find a healthcare practitioner who can do more functional testing to find the root cause of your gallbladder dysfunction.

All the best :)

How would I take these? Time of day? Liver Nutrients Zinc Carnosine Optimal Magnesium Phosphatidylserine Ashwagandha Saccharomyces

Hi Emma -

These supplements can be taken at any time of the day.

If you need help with better sleep then Optimal Magnesium, Phosphatidyl Serine, and Ashwagandha may be better taken in the evening. If the need is to help with mood or stress levels then take these supplements in the morning or during the day.

Liver Nutrients, Zinc Carnosine and Saccharomyces Boulardii can be taken any time of the day with or without food.

Hi there could my mam take this liver nutrients while going through chemo many thanks

Hi Stephanie -

Supplements taken while on chemo need to be coordinated with your integrative health professional and oncologist.

Please read The Metabolic Approach to Cancer by Dr. Nasha Winters.

I cannot give recommendations for supplements.

I do recommend looking into L Glutamine powder if she is struggling with mouth ulcers or intestinal bleeding as glutamine supports healthy mucosal linings.*

I'm considering adding Liver Nutrients and Calcium D-Glucarate. Do you think they'd be beneficial? I'm unsure about timing and whether Liver Nutrients could help with a small liver lesion. Is Calcium D-Glucarate safe for high cholesterol, and is calcium generally okay for the body? I have low estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, and high testosterone. My cortisol is normal, but I'm pre-diabetic and struggle with constipation. I'm being treated for mold, Lyme, and hormonal imbalances. I'm taking the following from Seeking Health: Digestive Enzymes, Homocysteine Nutrients (2X weekly), Omega, Vitamin D3, Iron Chewables, Gallbladder Nutrients, Optimal Electrolytes, ProBiota HistaminX, Optimal PC, and Optimal Magnesium. Your products have helped a lot. I feel like I'm finally getting my life back.

Hi Emma -

Let's focus on what I messaged you previously. Let's not add in Liver Nutrients just yet.

If needed, we can add it in later but let's try the recommendations I just emailed you first for a month.

Dear Dr Is NAC enough to support liver, or do I need, which I have R-ALA and milk thistle together Or what is best to support and clean liver? Thank you Regards Sara

Hi Sara -

It depends on the person.

I prefer starting out with a more synergistic blend like Liver Nutrients or Gallbladder Nutrients over just NAC.

If I were to pick one, it depends on what you're looking for:

  • Liver Nutrients: a gentle supportive supplement for a healthy liver that supports healthy detoxification.*
  • Gallbladder Nutrients: supports healthy digestion of fats, healthy bowel movements, healthy feeling under your right side ribcage (where your liver and gallbladder are), supports healthy feeling of fullness vs uncomfortable, supports healthy appetite.*

To use:

  • Liver Nutrients: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Gallbladder Nutrients: 2-4 capsules a day either all before your heaviest meal of the day or split between two of your heaviest meals of the day.

You can combine both for a more comprehensive supportive combination.

I have been taking this supplement about a month and just found out I am pregnant. Can I continue ?

Hi Alexandra -

Congratulations! :)

Given that it contains 250 mg of Milk Thistle, I would pause until after pregnancy.

Optimal Prenatal has Milk Thistle in it but less.

You can switch to that.

I recommend Optimal Prenatal at 2-3 capsules with breakfast, 2-3 capsules with lunch and IF NEEDED, 2 capsules with an afternoon snack.

Additionally, to support healthy baby development and a healthy liver and gallbladder while pregnant, I recommend Optimal PC after dinner a few times a week.

PC is very important during pregnancy - VERY much so.

I'd also support healthy hydration by drinking a glass or two of Optimal Electrolyte each day. Hydration is key - as I'm sure you'll hear from your midwife or OB/GYN :)

Happy for you!

My daughter takes the Liver Nutrients once a day, and when her liver is hurting this helps reduce the pain in a short period of time. It really does work. Could this be taken twice a day for a short period of time? Once in morning and night? Would this be better taken in the morning vs night? Should this be take before a meal or before pain medication?

Hi Jim -

I'm happy to hear it is supporting your daughter.

It is a safe supplement so it may be used twice daily.

The liver functions more in the evening so I'd definitely take 1 capsule before bed.

She can take another one in the morning or she can try taking 2 capsules at the same time. See what works best for her.

Liver Nutrients can be taken with or without food. Just make sure she swallows one capsule at a time with plenty of water so the capsule doesnt stick together in her throat and cause burning from the NAC.

Since it seems her liver needs support, I'd also consider using Calcium-D-Glucarate and take 1 capsule of this after dinner. This could be a boon for her.

I'd also look into the use of a Castor Oil Pack over her entire abdomen. Do a YouTube search. It can really be effective.

In the morning, I'd have her take 1 full lozenge of Glutathione Plus Lozenges to further support her healthy liver function.* The levels of glutathione should be quite high in the liver and when they are not, problems occur. The lozenge tastes great and the effect is experienced very quickly.

I'd also have her sip a serving of Optimal Electrolyte in a glass of filtered water during the day. She can have a couple servings a day of this. Hydration is absolutely essential for supporting healthy blood flow which is usually reduced in those experiencing pain.*

I am looking to detox and cleanse my liver, I see that this product states that is it a phase 2 for liver, but what do I start with for a phase 1? Have been told that I may have methylation issues and was sent to your website, Seen the liver products and thought maybe I need to detox first or along with the other things that I am trying to clear up. Right now looking at Liver nutrients, Gallbladder nutrients, Calcium D, Glutathione lozenges. histamine digest , Methyl b12, Probiata women, joint nutrients, adrenal cortex. Am I getting to much to start? Do I need to detox first or which way should I go. On the search (again) for something that will help me get well and feeling better. Thanks for listening. Kathy

Hi Kathy -

It's best to start with Phase 2 and 3 before pushing Phase 1.

Pushing phase 1 first leads to headaches, muscle soreness and fatigue.

It's best to start gently.

That said, I suggest you consider:

  • Glutathione Plus Lozenges: 1/2 a lozenge upon waking in the morning every other day or every day if you really feel you need it after skipping a day. I want you skipping to feel the difference.
  • Calcium-D-Glucarate: 1 capsule after dinner to support your body's main phase 2 detoxification program which also supports phase 3 of elimination via healthy bowel movements.*
  • Optimal Electrolyte: mix 1 glass in filtered water and sip over time. If you're struggling with adrenal fatigue, add a 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of additional salt to the cup, stir and sip.
  • Saccharomyces Boulardii: take 1 capsule after dinner to support a healthy microbiome.*

This is a great starting point.

Introduce one supplement at a time - one per day - that way you know what each one makes you feel so you can adjust accordingly.

Hello Dr On April 27th for my birthday I drunk alcohol, I ate gluten, and fish and those days the mosquitos bite me. 6 days later I felt terrible, itchy especially at night, urticaria, nauseas, dizziness, and numular eccema inmu arms. (On March 11th I have a rhynoplasty to correct my sleep apnea I was taking antibiotics and acetaminophen and advil to relieve the pain). I decided to do some labs. I’ve been taking liver nutrients and it helps me a lot to improve my hepatic enzymes, I added my paleo diet low is histamine and fasting 12/14 hrs and it helps me a lot. Date: May 29th TGO 152 TGP 493 total bilirrubin 1.92 Homocistein 10.7 vitamin b12 1169 June 12th TGO 21 TGP 41 bilirrubin total 0.9 b 12: 983 I’m waiting the last Homocistein results. I’m taking liver nutríents, optimal electrolytes, glutamin, digestive enzymes, turmeric. I bought the histamine nutrients too but I’m little scary to take it because of the pork. I still have the eccema in my arms, and dizziness, and sometimes itchy (my eyes and rectal zone), fatigue during the day, I noticed like a smalll white balls in my poop, I know that I have to continue to correct the root the dysbiosis and SIBO. How can I Know if is parasites, fungal or bacterium ? What other suplements do you recommend me ? I would like to start doing exercise. I miss it a lot. What kind of exercise do you recommend me?

Hi Paula -

I would order this test with your doctor:
https://www.doctorsdata.com/Comprehensive-Stool-Analysis-Parasitology-CSAP21

I'd add in:

  • Gallbladder Nutrients: Take 2 capsules before lunch and 2 before dinner to support healthy bile production and bile flow which is important for energy, healthy gut and healthy microbiome.*
  • Histamine Nutrients: you can take this before bed to support healthy onset of sleep along with healthy histamine levels.* Not sure why you'd be concerned of the pork? We have very clean ingredients and everything is tested.
  • Saccharomyces Boulardii: take 3 capsules after dinner to support a healthy microbiome.* This is a beneficial yeast which bad yeasts are afraid of.
  • Glutathione Plus Lozenges: take 1 lozenge by mouth in the morning upon waking, bite a couple times, let dissolve slowly, hold, then swallow.

This should help quite a bit.

I'm researching if I can complete a gentle detox especially for my thyroid function, specifically to see if it aids in my T4 to T3 conversion and helps to get my TPO antibodies down. I noticed that this product is marked safe for breastfeeding. What exactly des that mean? Is this just referring to the ingredients? Should I worry too much about what my body could be ridding itself of when I am also taking this supplement for support? I have been taking Prenatal Essentials and a fish oil supplement for a long time and I am wondering if this product could go well with it.

Hi Susan -

Good question.

It's important that you be gluten-free to get TPO antibodies down - very important.

Also need to reign in stress. Consider Stress Nutrients to support a healthy response to stressors.*

I'd look at either Liver Nutrients or Calcium D Glucarate to support a healthy gentle detoxification.* Both are good. In fact, I'd likely alternate them every week. One week, take one, Then the other week, switch.

Make sure you are hydrating to support healthy breastmilk flow and production - consider Optimal Electrolyte.

Is TMG the same as MSM and or 5MTF and calcium L methylfolate?

Hi Abbas -

TMG is trimethylglycine. This supports methylation.

MSM is methylsulfonylmethane. This supports sulfur metabolism.

These are very different.

5-MTHF is the same as Methylfolate. There are different types of methylfolate. Calcium methylfolate (from Merck) or Glucosamine Methylfolate (from Gnossis). We use the Glucosamine version as I find it to be superior.

Hi Ben, What would you suggest for PEMT M175V Homo AND C744G Homozygous. This is my husband’s methylation study, he also has CBS Homozygous and APOE Homozygous and 1 copy of MTHFR and MTRR 🫣 He has had very elevated liver function tests for years and likely drinks more alcohol than he should now I know about these gene SNPs. Thanks for your time!

Hi Jo -

I'd focus more on his present health and current symptoms and health goals than SNPs.

It's important to approach using genetic testing as supportive for supplement recommendations - not directive.

Meaning - if your husband has elevated liver function tests, then we look at his genetic profile and see if any genetic variations increase this issue - or decrease it.

In his case, PEMT homozygous variations likely reduce the production of phosphatidylcholine which is needed for a healthy liver.

I'd support him with Liver Nutrients. I think that's a great call.

APOE homozygous what? That matters - 2/2, 3/3 or 4/4 ?

If your husband has any 3 or 4 APOE alleles, then I recommend supporting healthy acetylcholine levels by giving him 1 capsule or so of Optimal Focus in the morning.

CBS - that's not too big an issue but it's sensitive to hydrogen peroxide and may increase hydrogen sulfide which can be problematic. I'd consider using Molybdenum with him IF he is experiencing loose stools, sulfur smelling gas, breath or armpits. Molybdenum supports healthy levels of hydrogen sulfide.*
https://www.seekinghealth.com/products/molybdenum

Do note that we do have Molybdenum in Optimal Man as well - so he may not need it separately.

I'd give him Optimal Man - 2 capsules with a protein based breakfast. Then, if needed, another 2 capsules at lunch. Most often, men don't need a second round of 2 capsules though at lunch as the 2 capsules with breakfast keeps them going. I also only take Optimal Man a couple times a week. However, that's biased as I used to take it 4 days a week but now I'm using and testing a Testosterone Nutrients supplement which is proving to be incredible. So much so that I rarely use Optimal Man.
https://www.seekinghealth.com/products/optimal-man

I'd also have him, upon waking, take 1/2 to 1 lozenge of Brain Nutrients Lozenge. This supports healthy liver function, brain function supports healthy alcohol metabolism.*
https://www.seekinghealth.com/products/brain-nutrients

And - one more - Optimal Electrolyte.

SIP this throughout the day. It's best when sipped. Have him put a scoop in his liter water bottle and take to work - or out in the yard. Use filtered water with it.

He'll be indeed an Optimal Man ;)

I have the MTHFR heterozygous mutation- have had gut issues my whole life. Got breast implants in 2015 by 2017 I had severe food sensitivities along with severe back and joint pain. Long story short- symptoms worsened over the past 7 years until I learned in the Fall of 2023 that l I likely had BII. I explanted this past February with a holistic surgeon in Austin, TX. Most of my symptoms have resolved; however, some will take time to heal such as my gut and food senstivites. I had a recent exposure to one of my severe ones- pineapple- accidently for over 3 weeks- my back spasmed and locked just like it used to with a food exposure. I suspect I have mast cell activitation syndrome- so now I'm working to calm my cells down since the exposure. Currently, I take your Histamine Digest and ProBiota HistaminX- just started a week ago. I am also taking through my holistic surgeon- lipasomal C, D, and glutathione (also doing Cellcore as part of his detox protocols since explanting). I read about your gal bladder nutrients, but cannot try it due to the turmeric- that is one of my sensitivities. My list of sensitivities is long and complicated but includes: turmeric, quercetin, niacin and niacinamide, along with eggs, diary, gluten and some fruits. So I wanted to ask if you thought your Liver Nutrients might be something to try in addition to what I already take. Any other advice you may have is much appreciated! Thank you, Shirley

Hi Shirley -

I'm glad you had your implants removed - they are very toxic.

I recommend using Calcium-D-Glucarate to support your liver. This supports the body's biggest detoxification pathway called the Glucoronidation pathway. You would take 1 capsule after dinner.
https://www.seekinghealth.com/products/calcium-d-glucarate-60-capsules

I'd also add in sauna. I like the High Tech Health sauna the most. You'd start low temperature and short duration at first. Work your way up in temperature and intensity over time.

Read my how to sauna guide:
https://www.seekinghealth.com/pages/how-to-sauna

Be sure you are nose breathing as well - not mouth breathing. This is very important.

Is this suitable for those who are methyl sensitive? It contains trimethylglycine and I understood this to be a methylated nutrient? I used the search feature for methyl-sensitive supplements and several came up that contain choline and inositol. Very sensitive to any methylated ingredients, so want to be sure before purchasing. If not, any non-methylated recommendations to support the liver for Mthfr A1298C++? Thank you

Hi Kim -

When people are methyl sensitive, they are mostly sensitive to methylfolate, methylcoabalamin and SAMe.

TMG seems to be a very well tolerated form of methylation support.

The amount of TMG used is quite low at only 150 mg - so you should be good to go.

If you're concerned still, then I recommend using Calcium D Glucarate to support liver health

Can you take Liver Nutrients at Bedtime w/Optimal Magnesium and Ashwagandha?

Hi Becca -

Yep. That's a pretty solid stack right there! :)

I may have to try that...

I am trying to lower my cholesterol and have just got these. Just checking to see if I should stick to one a day or up the dose? 🙏🏻

Hi Tracey -

The suggested dose is 1 capsule a day to meet the label claim on the side of the bottle.

If you like to take more, you may. It is safe to do so.

I also recommend you consider Gallbladder Nutrients. Take 2 capsules before dinner to support healthy bile production and bile flow. This is important for healthy cholesterol levels.*

I am currently taking Seeking Health's Gallbladder Nutrients 2X at Lunch and Dinner, Ox Bile 2X at Lunch and Dinner, and Zinc Carnosine 2X per day. I have a sluggish gallbladder and elevated copper levels, along with some histamine intolerance. I would like to add Liver Nutrients; however, I'm not sure how to stack the histamine and liver nutrients. Can I take Liver Nutrients at night with Histamine supplements, or should I separate them?

Hi Krissy -

You may take Liver Nutrients any time of day or night. I like taking it before bed or after dinner but it really doesn't matter.

High copper levels may be supported by increasing zinc levels. Consider Zinc Lozenges to help support healthy copper levels. Make sure to take the zinc with a meal - and it can be any meal of the day. I do recommend dinner though or lunch. Not breakfast.

For further liver support, consider adding in Calcium D Glucarate. Take with the Liver Nutrients.

This combination should really support healthy liver and gallbladder.

I have PEMT - Slow, COMT - Intermediate, MTHFR - Slow, GPX/GST - Slow, SOD2 - Fast, NOS - slow. I have a sluggish gallbladder and am being treated for Mold & Lyme. I take Gallbladder Nutrients (amazing!!!). Can I take Homocysteine Nutrients, Liver Nutrients with Gallbladder Nutrients? Is there anything that can't mix together. Many thanks!!! I am so happy I found Seeking Health.

Hi Becca -

I'm glad you found Seeking Health, too! :)

You may take all of those together yes.

Make sure you take Homocysteine Nutrients in the morning with breakfast or the latest at lunch.

The other supplements you may take anytime of day but I prefer 2-4 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients before dinner and Liver Nutrients I usually take before bed.

I highly recommend you add Glutathione Plus Lozenges in the morning upon waking up. It really helps get your day started especially if you have a slow GPX/GST.

Be sure you sauna as well. Here's a Sauna guide for you:

Is this product a good supplement to take with the Homocysteine Nutrients, as a detox and rebalancing for the gut? or is there a better product for gut health that would compliment this product or Homocysteine Nutrients product? I am looking for a liver support product and a gut health product? We already have the Homocysteine Nutrients as our go to everyday. Thoughts and guidance appreciated here. We love your products! Thank you Sonni Jacobson

Hi Sonni -

Happy to hear you're enjoying the Homocysteine Nutrients.

For liver support, I'd consider:

  • Gallbladder Nutrients - 2 capsules before dinner. Supports healthy bile production and bile flow. Key for gut health and a healthy gut microbiome.
  • ProBiota HistaminX - 1 capsule after dinner. Supports healthy gut microbiome via select histamine-supportive probiotics.
  • Liver Nutrients - 1 capsule after dinner. Supports healthy, gentle detoxification.

Your bowel movements should be well-formed, easy to pass and sink.

If you notice they are too loose, then back off on the Gallbladder Nutrients.

If you notice they are too hard to pass or floating, then increase the Gallbladder Nutrients. Add 2 capsules before lunch and 2 before dinner.

Dr. Lynch
