Liposomal Glutathione Dr. Lynch Q&AUpdated 4 hours ago

Question
Answer
Hi Dr. Ben An avid student here. Have acquiredctond from you and wish to learn more. Have one exclusive question for you pl. Is silica (Diatamicious Earth, widely used in your supplements too) the same thing as *silica sand* used in micro chips? This is totally baffling for those who have anti-v° bent of mind. Hoping for a quick reply as I've to place an order from Pakistan and delivery takes time. Regards.

Hello Sasha,

Silica is SiO₂, — that said, it comes in different structures and purities depending on its source, processing, and intended use. There are distinct differences between the silicon dioxide used in foods and supplements and the silicon dioxide found in industrial settings. Amorphous silicon dioxide commonly occurs in foods and supplements, while crystalline silicon dioxide is generally found in industrial settings. The silica materials used in our products are chemically synthesized from amorphous Silicon Dioxide, are free from GMO's and major allergens.

I’ve purchased this product and started slowly. However it makes me constipated?? I’ve tried to research this and have found nothing to indicate that this could happen. Do you have any advice on this. I’ve had to stop taking this as a result. I’m Homozygous c677 and fast comt as well as other mutations. I’m very low on glutathione production.

Hi Ali -

I suspect your gallbladder or bile or both need support.

Consider:

  • Bile Nutrients: 4 capsules before dinner

Continue using the Liposomal Glutathione as you like and I suggest reducing the amount you're taking for now by 1/2. Then, after using the Bile Nutrients for a week or so, then add in the full amount you were taking.

I suspect you'll experience other benefits from taking the Bile Nutrients before dinner.

Keep me posted.

I am very low in glutathione, and would like to add it, however I am struggling with being stabilized on a methylated multivitamin. I'm going to move to pulsing the multivitamin, but I wanted to know when I might try adding glutathione? My worst symptoms are profound anxiety and gut tightness, triggered by heat, sun, EMF, and anything that makes me sweat/detox. I also have nerve issues and brain fog. (Post covid MCAS seems to be the culprit). I have two MTHFR SNPs, Homozygous slow MAOA, and some other genes impacting glutathione and folate pathways. As per Dirty Genes, it appears I have a dirty PEMT and histamine intolerance issues going as well. Thanks in advance!

Hi Sarah -

Good detail. That's helpful.

Consider:

  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1/2 a lozenge upon waking. I find this to be better tolerated than the liposomal form. You can take another 1/2 a lozenge later in the day if needed.
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking and another serving later in the day.
  • Histamine Nutrients: 2 capsules taken any time of day or night with some food to support a healthy mood and healthy response to sun and EMF.*
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule after dinner to support a healthy histamine level in the microbiome.*
  • Bile Nutrients: 2 capsules before dinner to support healthy detoxification which is needed for mood and healthy histamine levels.*

You should notice some improvements within a couple days.

Hi! We just received our glutathione liposomal and our glutathione plus. We were near the Georgia biolab explosion. My question is, what would the dosage be for our 2 year old, 7 year old and 9 year old? Thank you!

Hi Holly -

Glad to hear you have some support.

I cannot suggest dosages but generally speaking you're going to use more during these initial days and then reduce as the exposure reduces.

Start with a small amount like 1/2 a tsp for each of them and see how they respond. They should notice their head feeling lighter - and you need it, too.

Then, later in the day - say a few hours later, try 1/2 a lozenge of Glutathione Plus lozenge and see how they respond to that. Same thing - head should feel lighter.

If they feel their head feeling heavy again later, they should take more glutathione.

Additionally, I highly recommend they all drink Optimal Electrolyte. 1/2 a scoop per cup for the youngster and a full one for the older kids - and do a couple times a day or so.

We also have a Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF that may be supportive for them. Consider 1/2 a chewable after breakfast for the little one and a full chewable for the older kids - and make sure you give this after a full breakfast - never a snack or away from food.

I live in Georgia, one county over from the BioLab explosion. I just came across Dr. Lynch’s video about glutathione. I have a 5 year old and a 21 month old, along with my husband. What type of glutathione would you recommend for the kids, and what dosage? Thank you for any advice.

Hi Jessica -

Use the Glutathione Plus Lozenge.

You can crush up the Glutathione Plus Lozenge into small pieces for the 21 month old. Use 1/4 lozenge for them 2 to 3 times a day.

For your 5 year old, consider 1/2 lozenge a few times a day.

Reduce the amount as the exposures go down.

I also recommend Optimal Electrolyte. Have them sip some of yours or put 1/4 a scoop into a sippy cup for young one and 1/2 scoop in a water bottle for the 5 year old. Berry and Orange are favorites for kids.

Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF is also recommended. Consider 1/2 a chewable AFTER a breakfast. Do not give after just a snack or an empty stomach.

I wish you all the best.

Keep me posted.

I am putting together a protocol for the Atlanta area that has been affected by a major chemical fire and wanted to see what else besides this I should recommend. I was wondering if PQQ? Thank you in advance.

Hi Lindsay -

Smart.

I'd say the best protocol to use for folks in Atlanta is one that supports healthy chlorine detoxification as that's the chemical that is identified:*

  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 to 3 servings a day. The added taurine is key for chlorine detoxification and the added creatine supports a healthy brain. Plus the added benefits of hydration.

  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: take 1 lozenge multiple times a day during the acute stages. Possibly 1 lozenge every hour. This is more effective than our liposomal glutathione. This has PQQ in it.

  • air purifier - I like the Alen Air purifiers.

Could this cause nausea if my levels of glutathione are sufficient or too high? Does a CBC measure levels of glutathione in blood tests?

Hi Molly -

A CBC does not measure levels of glutathione. Unless a serum glutathione test distinguishes between oxidized and reduced glutathione, it's not useful.

Nausea is not a typical reaction if you take glutathione when you may not need it.

Is this safe for kids? My friend is looking for glutathione and Methyl B12 for her 3yr old.

Hi Myra -

Yes. You may use a few drops to 1/2 a teaspoon per day.

You may also want to use the Glutathione Plus lozenges and give her 1/4 to 1/2 a lozenge upon waking or any time of day.

She can also use the Methyl B12 1000 lozenges and use 1/4 a lozenge for her.

Our Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF is a great multivitamin for kids. She would take 1/2 a chewable after her breakfast. It has the B12 and other nutrients needed.

Hi Dr Lynch, Thanks for all the info on your site, and in your literature. Upon review of another site ("Healthy Drops"), I saw a review of "Seeking Health" which led me here. I am interested in the Glutathione and the Meyers Cocktail (on Healthy Drops only) products. Would you share any info on how these companies are inter-related and the composition of Glutathione. I don't see the blended Meyers Cocktail product on Seeking Health. Our integrative medicine provider has suggested these IV protocols, so I'm also seeking supporting oral liposomal liquid (or Lozenges) supplements. Thanks for any input you can provide. Regards, Vin C

Hi Vin -

I'm not sure about Healthy Drops as I only focus on our product line - not other brands.

I can tell you that I believe we are the ONLY supplement company using s-acetyl glutathione exclusively in all our glutathione products. This is by far the absolute best form of glutathione out there as it is far more stable and thus, more absorbed and less oxidized and damaged.

I'm not a fan of IV glutathione as you cannot regulate it.

I find glutathione best used smaller amounts more often than one large amount once.

The body tolerates it better.

I really like our Liposomal Glutathione or our Glutathione Lozenges.

I am not much a fan of our Glutathione capsules - because I feel they are just too strong and you cannot feel the effect as fast as you can with our lozenges or liposomal.

Can this be taken in juice with other vitamins/fish oil mixed with it? Do you think that this supplement will be made without seed oil in the future? Maybe not possible. thanks!

Hi Marie -

Yes you may combine.

We don't use seed oils. We use sunflower lecithin which is vastly different than sunflower oil.

I have read in some detox/chelating groups that Liposomal Glutathione should not be taken as it can move mercury and other metals into the cells. Rather to take glutamine and glycine in a ratio of 2:1. Is that true for anyone taking this that needs a boost or do you have anything with Glutamine and Glycine?

Hi Caitlin -
Different groups will undoubtedly have different opinions on various topics :).

I have not seen any research papers that suggest Liposomal Glutathione can move mercury or other metals into the cells, nor have I seen it in my practice. In fact, glutathione is essential in detoxing polyaromatic hydrocarbons, peroxides, and heavy metals. It's our body's master antioxidant and detoxifier.

Glutathione is made up of 3 amino acids - glutamine, glycine, and n-acetylcysteine (NAC). NAC is the rate-limiting nutrient which means that a glutathione deficiency is rarely due to a need for more glycine or glutamine. Therefore the best way to raise serum glutathione levels is through Liposomal Glutathione or NAC which many research papers support.

In the case of mold biotoxins, it becomes more difficult for the body to make glutathione using these 3 amino acids due to mold inhibiting many glutathione-related enzymes. Liposomal Glutathione is more effective here.

However, to answer your question, Gut Nutrients contain glutamine and Gallbladder Nutrients contain glycine.

Is there any way that you can explain the benefits of astaxanthin oil? I use both of your liquid liposomal glutathione products and I see this ingredient in both. I know that it comes from algae but this concerns me because I have heard that some algae (like Cyanobacteria and others) contain things that are bad for our bodies. I would love some guidance in this :)

Hi Laura -

We're using astaxanthin in our liposomal products to act as a healthy antioxidant.*

Fats and oils can get oxidized which is not good.

By using astaxanthin, we're supporting healthy antioxidant levels and thus healthy levels of oxidation.*

Can you take this and NAC?

Hi Dawn -

You can but best to alternate them.

I'd use glutathione during the day and NAC in the afternoon and possibly before bed as well.

Im currently working on my NTP certification with the NTA, and our supplement instructor warned us to be very cautious of any supplement that uses nano technology like liposomal supplements. She said that because the element is so small it can bypass natural processes and go straight into a cell and that process can lead to damaging the cellular membrane and even possibly the organelles like the mitochondria disrupting normal cellular processes. She didn't present any evidence or papers supporting this concern, but came across in such a way in struck fear in so many students. I have tried to research online and can't seem to find anything to speak to support this concern or negate it. I absolutely love your lozenges especially the glutathione, the brain nutrients and b12 one. Can you maybe help me understand how to speak to this issue? Is this really something to be worried about? Should nano tech supps be used with caution? Any help or wisdom for clarification on how to move forward in serving my clients and which supps to recommend they use would be so appreciated!

Hi Rebecca -

I agree with your supplement instructor.

Nano technology is very powerful.

If there are any impurities, that's an issue.

I have not seen, nor looked, for papers promoting or warning against, the use of nano technology in the supplement industry. I am going purely off of common sense principles.

Even pharmaceutical medications have impurities.

The supplement industry is very dirty and requires massive independent regulation. We regulate ourselves with heavy third party testing on each ingredient, finished product specs and stability testing.

I recommend against using nano based supplements.

Quality supplements such as ours negate the need for nano technology as the effects are already experienced quite rapidly and effectively.

I'd continue using the lozenges :)

I prefer the lozenges over the liposomal delivery.

Could this product cause increased lipid profile numbers because of the liposomal carrier?....if so, is the pill form as potent.

Hi Lucia -

Typically, phospholipids actually support healthy lipid numbers not increase them.

Low phospholipids increase fat in the liver whereas higher phospholipids in the liver help transport lipids out.

Sunflower lecithin? I have been trying to avoid seed oils because of their disruption to the endocrine system and long 1/2 life in the body. I’ve been reading labels more carefully and was concerned to see sunflower lecithin added to this product. Can you explain the reasoning behind it and why I should not be concerned? Or should I? Also I’ve been taking a glutathione product from another company but ran out and started taking this one. It contains 1/3 less glutathione than my previous supplement. So you are saying I should take it at the recommended dosage on your label and not increase it 3x?

Hi Erika -

Sunflower lecithin is a great nutrient which supports healthy cell membranes. There is a lot of research supporting this.

We use Emothion(TM) which is a trademarked material and significantly more potent than typical reduced glutathione. I do not recommend using 3x more as it will be way too much.

I purposely reduced the amount of Emothion per serving because one does not need nearly as much compared to reduced glutathione.

You may also want to consider the Glutathione Plus Lozenges. These tasty and effective glutathione lozenges work quickly and are great to take while traveling as well:

I had been using Readisorb's Liposomal Glutathione, as I'm on my detox journey for mold toxicity. I had read that it was best to take on an empty stomach 20-30 minutes before a meal, but I noticed this one doesn't say that. I just started using it, but wanted to check and see if you do recommend an empty stomach, and if not, why not? Also, do you recommend only taking it 5 days a week and then doing NAC? I don't want to overdo it to where my body can't produce this on its own. Just trying to learn and figure out what will help me be mold free so I can get pregnant soon. Thank you!

Hi Grace -

It doesn't matter with an empty stomach or not.

The key with liposomes is they should be well absorbed.

There may be fractional improvement with an empty stomach but at the same time, the stomach acid can hurt the glutathione typically.

With our glutathione though, it's way more stable than reduced glutathione so it doesn't matter with or without food.

Take a serving by mouth, hold for a few seconds, move around, then swallow.

You want to take glutathione when you have a cloudy head, get exposed to mold or chemicals or fragrances.

You don't want to take glutathione when you feel good as it will make you feel bad.

It's not that you are stopping your body from making glutathione. If you are taking glutathione, it doesn't need to make it. It's not good to make too much and that's why the body has a feedback inhibition system in place to prevent this from happening.

You don't take glutathione X days a week. You take it based on need and need only.

I highly recommend using a sauna a few times a week.

Here's how to sauna:

Hello, My 3 year old is already using seeking health Homocysteine x, should I consider using this too? Please advice what amount to give him? Thank you Burcu

Hi S

I'd consider using Kids Multivitamin Chewable and giving him 1/2 to 1 chewable with a protein-based breakfast. This supports his overall health.*

You can also use a 1/4 to 1/2 lozenge of Glutathione Plus Lozenges. These are enjoyed by kids of all ages as they taste good and help them feel good and healthy.* Give him this upon waking in the morning. It would be good for you as well. :)

You want to make sure that your kid is feeling happy, healthy and energetic.

If he is becoming irritable, headaches and difficulty sleeping, reduce the amount and/or the frequency in which you are giving him these supplements as these side effects are indicative of too much nutrients.

I have been taking a high dose of Prednisone as well as Vicodin for a resent pinched nerve in my neck. Can I take Glutathione while on these medication or should I wait to they are finished? I rarely take prescription medications and want to use Glutathione to detox!

Hi K.M.

Ouch.

Yes, you can use the glutathione and I recommend you use the Glutathione Plus Lozenges over the liposomal form.
https://www.seekinghealth.com/products/glutathione-plus-lozenges

I highly recommend you consider Joint Nutrients as well. While a pinched nerve isn't a joint, the nutrients in Joint Nutrients are very effective at supporting healthy levels of inflammation.*
https://www.seekinghealth.com/products/joint-nutrients

Consider taking 1 capsule upon waking and 1 before bed.

You may need 2 capsules at first for the first few days then you can drop down to 1 capsule twice a day.

Also - look into Prolotherapy. It's VERY effective for many things pain related and actually addresses the underlying problems.

Hi - I can see that in the "Other Ingredients" in the label, you list also the presence of: 1. Tocopherol - which as per my understanding is Vitamin E 2. Tocotrienols with Carotenoids - which as per my understanding, would be respectively, VItamin E again, and then Vitamin A Your help would be needed, in order for me to understand how much in quantity of the two vitamins E and A, is present in this product, or in general. Reason is - I have elevated Vitamin A in my body from latest blood exams, borderline with toxicity, and high Vitamin E too, and need to make sure, a daily use of this product, is not going to bring the two vitamins, in a toxicity state in my body. Could you please let me know and by liaising with your product experts/manufacturers eventually, how much Vitamin A and E is present in this product, as % of RDI and/or in milligramms or other measure, and considering also the "Other Ingredients"? Please, if you could help me understand, and so for me to see if I might have toxicity risks or not. Thank you, Andrea

Hi Andrea -

The amounts of ingredients are very low if found in 'other ingredients'.

We have to claim the amounts of ingredients if there are notable amounts of them in there.

That said, the amount of Vitamin E and A in the other ingredients is quite low.

Keep in mind that your lab test may also be inaccurate. Make sure you are using a reputable lab with reputable ranges.

i have the mthfr gene. this would be good for me to take?

Hi Heidi -

One needs to go by how they are feeling and what their goals are.

Going by what SNP you have isn't that effective and can steer you down the wrong path.

Taking glutathione is very important given our daily exposures to chemicals, stress and infections.

I do recommend using 1/2 to 1 teaspoon daily of Optimal Liposomal Glutathione. Upon waking up in the morning is a great time to do it.

I am very low in Glutathione and would like to supplement with yours, however I have seizures and need to be very careful about not consuming "natural flavors." Would you please explain why your glutathione product has natural flavors in it and possibly if you have a glutathione supplement without NF. Thank you and thank you for your Dirty Genes book, I learned a lot!

Hi Amber -

I hear you.

The natural flavors we use do not contain stimulants like MSG.

Our Glutathione Plus capsules do not contain any flavors:

Is this safe to take while pregnant? My glutathione blood tests are always low so I am taking this daily. I just learned I am 4 weeks pregnant and realize good gluthione levels are better in pregnancy so I want to continue, but because there is so little research everyone advises against it (?)

Hi A -

You may use glutathione during pregnancy in smaller amounts.

I recommend using 1/2 teaspoon of the liposomal glutathione.

You are correct in what the research shows in terms of oxidative stress and pregnancy. Low glutathione levels are a risk factor so having healthy glutathione levels during pregnancy are needed.

If I add this to my morning smoothie would the product be effective?
Thank you for your question! The product would most likely be effective, but there is a chance some will be lost to the blender/ glass. Taking it with a bite of food would also be an option.
"Other ingredients" are not explained. Please add this to your product page. Why was astaxanthin oil added? It does not appear to be part of Lipid-Protect. Do you intend to do the same changes to Optimal Liposomal Glutathione Plus? I like it the way it is, so please explain why the changes. Thank you.
