Hello! My son has b12 & choline deficiency, MTHFR Hertro- would this be an ok supplement for him? Diagnosis of autism and adhd. | |
Can this be taken with the kids multivitamin? | Hi Meghan - It can yes. The key is introducing one at a time so you can observe how your child is doing with each one. I'd also reduce the amount by 50% of the Kids Multivitamin your child usually gets the day you introduce a 1/4 tablet of Kids Optimal Focus. Please read this How to Use Kids Optimal Focus Guide In health, |
Hi! Our son, 9 years old, needs 2 chewables of kids optimal focus. Sometimes it is easier with capsules. Is there any benefits in taking the chewables? And what is the difference between the original and kids version? I see there is more ingrediens in the original version. Does the chewables work faster? | Hi Monika - The chewables do work faster but not much faster than the capsules -we're talking about 10 minutes or so faster it seems. The capsules have DHA, ginseng and gingko in them while the chewables do not due to taste issues. If your son can swallow capsules, do use the Optimal Focus and provide him 1 capsule after breakfast. Some days he may need less and you can use the chewables on those days. In health, |
Hi Dr Lynch, I purchased this to help my 6 year old son. He has developed asthma and whilst not diagnosed or on the severe end of symptoms he does present some ADHD like symptoms such an impulse control, poor short term memory and retaining info. Not always though! I am working on his mouth breathing which is one aspect also. When I offer the kids new supplements I always try it with them. With 1/2 lozenge my older daughter (9) reported all of the amazing benefits you suggest can happen. Clearer thinking, and even better sports performance. My son and I however, interestingly experienced the same reaction - drowsiness, irritated eyes and generally not feeling good from it. I am very interested to know what this could suggest and perhaps alternate ways to help him? I also have him on your histamine protocol which does help. I have confirmed homozygous MTHFR c677t mutations and I keep this in mind for the children and their health. Many thanks for some help and advice 🙏🏻 | Hi Jill - I'm happy to hear your daughter is doing great with Kids Optimal Focus. The human brain is extremely complex and I'm working hard with my team to figure out the nuances. My wife doesn't do well with Optimal Focus either but the rest of the family does. Here's a great guide on Kids Optimal Focus - skip down to the Troubleshooting section which is past the FAQ section on page 11: I just scanned it and it didn't help me much answer your question :) That said, let's work with some other things for your son. Consider:
Keep me posted how he is doing. We can make adjustments. This is quite supportive for him. He should notice changes within 24 to 48 hours - and you should see it as well. In health, |
Why Alpha GPC( AlphaSize®)? It can increase the risk of a stroke and arteriosclerosis. | Hi Monika - TMAO is an issue if one has an imbalanced microbiome. Alpha GPC is incredibly effective for supporting healthy acetylcholine levels.* If you're concerned about TMAO, you can test with your doctor. If elevated, then supporting a healthy gut microbiome can be done using ProBiota Bifido and Saccharromyces Boulardii. The amount of Alpha GPC in this supplement is not going to raise TMAO to unhealthy levels. In health, |
Hello, Wondering if this could be good for my 4 year old son. He has VEO-IBD that resulted in a complete proctocolectomy with end ileostomy. He also has 47 XXY. His emotional regulation is poor, a lot of outbursts, poor listening and direction following. Poor memory and has a hard time paying attention. We’re starting preschool and his fine motor skills are giving him trouble as well, pencil grip is incredibly hard for him. Looking for something to help him slow down and focus. | Hi Kara - I agree with your thinking. I believe that Kids Optimal Focus for you son is a great choice. Consider:
Please read this fully: You will see changes the same day and typically within an hour once the right amount is used. Do not give too much as too much leads to issues as you'll read. Starting low and being observant is key. In health, |

Too much nutritional support can lead to irritability, stomach issues and anxiousness. Consider:
Read this very thoroughly as it will give you lots of insight into what to look for, how to use it, when and why: Keep me posted. I look forward to hearing how he's doing. In health, |
Hi, I’m wondering if this would be right for my two sons. They are both demonstrating different needs. 1. Older: age 11. exhibits signs of ADD. He forgets things easily, is easily distracted, needs help with organization, has a hard time focusing, needs constant prompting, has a hard time recalling facts. It’s affecting his learning in school. He has a very personable and easy demeanor. He used to be high energy as a preschooler (never hyperactive), but now is often tired and lethargic starting a few years ago. He gets sick easily, has chronic hives and is being treated for asthma & allergies with Symbicort, Zyrtec, Azelastine 2x a day. When off these medications his hives come back right away & he complains of difficulty breathing. We’ve done allergy testing, but nothing has specifically come up as causing the skin reactions. 2. Younger son: age 9. has very big emotions, tends to think negatively & get angry easily, but feels bad afterwards, has a lot of energy, was diagnosed with sensory processing disorder as a toddler, will often run back & forth to think about something- he’s done this since he could walk…we call it dreaming), tends to be more on the moodier side. I thought this might help for mood support? | Hi Brittany - Both kids are responding negatively to something(s) in their environment.
The asthma medications, while needed, are contributing to his ADD as is his just not feeling good. I highly recommend working with ElizmaLambert.com Meanwhile to support them both from a foundational side:

Hi, ı have a 10 years old daughter and she’s 42 kg. she has an adhd. I will start kids optimal focus but ı don’t know how to use. Does she have to take it 1/2 or 1? Before the meal or after the meal? How many days a week? I’m waiting for your answer. | Hi Kate - Here's a great guide on how to use Optimal Focus and Kids Optimal Focus There are different types of ADHD. There is inattentive, hyperactive and mixed. Hyperactive ADHD is related to low acetylcholine and by supporting healthy acetylcholine levels, one may be able to focus well.* Consider Optimal Focus and Kids Optimal Focus to support healthy acetylcholine levels.* Inattentive ADHD is related to low dopamine and low norepinephrine. By supporting healthy dopamine and norepinephrine levels, one may be able to experience healthy focus.* Consider Dopamine Nutrients 1 capsule after breakfast and 1/2 a lozenge of Brain Nutrients to support healthy dopamine and norepinephrine.* Here's a great guide on Dopamine Nutrients: In health, |
Hi Dr. Lynch, I just purchased Optimal focus for my 12-year-old daughter who has ADHD. She really struggles with emotional dysregulation, inability to focus, poor short-term memory and disorganization. She has extreme gut issues where she has experienced constant nausea and constipation for almost 2 years. She was diagnosed as having a disorder of the gut-brain connection and just completed a month-long cycle of IB-STIM. The Ib-stim device has significantly improved her nausea and constipation, but she does still have bad days. She was also recently tested for SIBO and is positive for both methane and hydrogen. She just started a microbial protocol to treat her SIBO. Is it ok for her to take the optimal focus while she is on microbials (garlic and berberine)? Is there anything else you would suggest to give her more support around her ADHD symptoms? Thank you. | Hi Eilyn - Consider working on the gut as you are now and see what remains. Gut health is massively important for mood and cognitive abilities. Optimal Focus may increase nausea but at the same time the constipation is definitely contributing to this. Consider:

Hello, my teen suffers from terrible school anxiety. Gets nausea and dizzy and stomachaches. Thank you so much for answering my last questions. Slow COMT and MTFHR. ADHD. Sending in 23 and Me tomorrow to get more thorough results. For example, his pharmacological genetic report didn’t cover MAO or many others. When he was in 4th grade and had terrible daily school anxiety and we started him on a stimulant for ADHD. It helped his attention but his anxiety disappeared??? Too bad the other side effects were horrible so I took him off. That’s why I’m wondering if Optimal Focus, in addition to the Stress Nutrients you suggested, would maybe help with his anxiety. As the last time he could focus, there was no anxiety?! Thank you so much for what you do! Lauren | Hi Laurin - I would consider this combination, yes. Consider:
Keep me posted :) Please make sure you read the document of 'How to Use Kids Optimal Focus' which is under the product image. It's very useful :) In health, |
Hi Dr. Lynch, Our 8 yo son has severe ADHD. We are giving our son 1/4 of a chewable per day M-F. We notice major positive improvements in his mood, emotional control, focus and a big decrease in his hyperactivity. We are having so many good weeks like this. However, per your recommendation, we are not giving it on the weekends but it’s causing his symptoms to come back and us to have a difficult time over the weekend with him. Is it possible that we could give it daily since it is such a small dose? He does so well with the 1/4 chewable and we have not noticed any side effects. | Hi KBreaux - I hear you. At that low amount of 1/4 a chewable, you may give as needed without breaks - if needed. If you notice that he's starting to experience better days before getting the supplement, don't give it to him that morning. This may start happening in a month or two as his brain becomes healthier due to healthy acetylcholine levels. Low acetylcholine leads to brain inflammation. Thus, by having healthy acetylcholine levels in the brain, one will thus experience healthy inflammation levels in the brain. Please go to the product page, and under the main product image, you'll see some text: 'How to Use Kids Optimal Focus' - and it says 'Download Now' We will be making this more obvious as the information contained there is absolutely incredibly useful for you. I'm happy to hear your son is doing so much better! As parents, it's tough seeing our kids struggle and such a relief when they're doing well. I'd love to see a review from you if not one yet! A video review of him talking about how he feels when taking it would be outstanding! Happy Mother's Day to you! In health, |
Hello Dr. Lynch & team, We’ve been loyal customers for over a decade and have greatly appreciated your work through social media posts, your book and many of your supplements. My 13-year-old daughter is a competitive swimmer and an A+ student, but she’s recently been experiencing a hormonal surge, accompanied by acne and some new focus and behavioral challenges. We're wondering if chlorine exposure might be contributing to these issues. She currently uses your glutathione lozenges, Probiota HistaminX and skin nutrients, and we recently tried giving her ½ of a Kids Optimal Focus lozenge. Unfortunately, the Kids Optimal Focus triggered the worst headache she’s ever had. Do you have any insights into why this happened, or any suggestions on how we might support her focus and hormonal balance during this time? Thank you so much for your time and expertise. Best regards, | Hi Amber - Thank you for reaching out and sharing her experience. We have a very thorough document under the product image on the Kids Optimal Focus. Click the link on the product page - under the main product image - it says: How to use Kids Optimal Focus - Download We need to improve this as the content is exceptional and needs to be better presented... Read through that. Kids Optimal Focus supports healthy acetylcholine levels - which then influences many other neurotransmitters as well. High levels of acetylcholine can trigger headaches. Estrogen further stimulates acetylcholine which is likely why she reacted so significantly. I suspect her estrogen levels are quite high especially just prior to ovulation and if she took it during this time in her cycle, it would have been aggravating. The trick is knowing how her dopamine levels and estrogen levels are working during various phases of her menstrual cycle. I recommend going to Dopamine Nutrients product page and clicking the How to Use Dopamine Nutrients document and read that fully. This may be what she needs - and only after ovulation. For a week or two prior to ovulation, she may need Calcium D Glucarate to support healthy estrogen metabolism. She would take 1 capsule after dinner. Chlorine can definitely aggravate her skin and mood since it depletes glutathione. Her using the Glutathione Plus Lozenges is smart - she needs to be taking 1 lozenge every morning upon waking and likely another 1/2 to 1 after swimming. Ask my team for a refund for the Focus. Keep me posted how she's doing. In health, |
Hi! I have a son who is 10 years old, and most likely has adhd but hasn't been through an assessment yet. (I have adhd and mild autism). He is sensory seeking, always has to have something in his hands and has a hard time sitting still, and is constantly distracted. He has done well in school so far but seems to have more and more trouble with rushing through work, making careless mistakes, and at home is very argumentative and has low frustration tolerance. He is constantly forgetting things and gets very angry if you try to argue with him. He also is homozygous for MTHFR C677T, has slow MAOA, and homozygous GCLM. Would the kids optimal focus be good for him to take? He is currently taking MORS by Systemic Formulas for methylation support but I am wondering if I should take him off of that and put him on a multivitamin and glutathione, plus the optimal focus. | Hi Collins - I think you may have the right choice here. The key is to use a lower amount to start. His combination of slow MAOA and slow MTHFR and a dirty glutathione gene makes for unpredictable neurotransmission. Kids Optimal Focus supports the brain's #1 calming neurotransmitter which is acetylcholine. If acetylcholine is low, symptoms like his may be present. Consider:
Please go to the Kids Optimal Focus product page - and then under the main product image, click 'How to Use Kids Optimal Focus' Download Here. That guide - read it in full. There's a ton of great information there. I would not put him yet on a multivitamin - start with the three above first. Let me know how he goes - and please read the How to fully. In health |
Hi Dr. Lynch, We want to order this for our 11year old son. He is having a hard time controlling his day dreaming and imagining thus affect him sometimes at school and It is hard for him to understand things and gets emotionally frustrated and insisting on what he wants we have tried helping it out but cutting screen time and minimizing it for just 30mins every weekend and that helped a lot with his twitching. Now the only thing he really can't control is he always imagine a day dream. Like when you're talking to him he pretends to listen but really he is thinking about something else. Do you think this kids optimal focus will help him out. We would truly be grateful for any suggestions you have. Much Thanks. Maxine | Hi Maxine - I think the daydreaming may be a defense mechanism. When I was teaching my son math, he tried learning but I realized he just couldn't learn and it caused stress. Then, he just refused to be taught because he knew he was unable to learn. It was pretty devastating seeing this - which is why I formulated Optimal Focus. I'd definitely consider using 1/2 a chewable of Kids Optimal Focus for your son. In health, |
My almost 7 year old son is hyperactive for sure. Suspecting he has adhd .Teachers say he is disruptive (speaks when teacher is speaking sometimes gets out of his seat to speak to friends.Bigg talker, sensitive as well. Also I notice at home he can’t sit still when trying to do hw and always is fidgeting with something.Very intelligent and has good grades but has trouble focusing. | Hi Jessica - I would definitely consider starting with 1/2 a Kids Optimal Focus after breakfast for him. :) In health, |
Hi! I have a son who is 9 years old and has ADHD and autism. He has been doing well with Guanfacine (medication) but we have stopped due to side effects. It is chaos. At school he is loud, can't sit still, has no energy for schoolwork and is acting out. At home he fights with siblings, screams, demands constant activity and has poor control over his body. He is often angry. He has had some problems with constipation, but we solve it with magnesium malate and citrate. Could Kidz optimal focus be something for him? | Hi Monika - From what I'm hearing, Kids Optimal Focus may be supportive for him. I'm still learning on what additional questions to ask to help determine if this product would not support but I don't have those yet. I'm working on developing them as I learn more from people. Consider:
It is a balance between too little and too much. Starting low is ideal as he can always take more. As you may have read, low acetylcholine is associated with constipation and Kids Optimal Focus supports healthy acetylcholine levels.* In health, |
Hello. Would love your insight. My 5 year old has ASD (level 1) and ADHD- combined. We struggle greatly with attention to task, task initiation, hyperactivity, hyperfocus, and emotional regulation. I'll add a few of his SNPs here: COMT rs6269 -98A>G G GG, COMT rs4818 C408G G GG, MTHFR rs1801133 C677T A GA, MTHFR rs1801131 A1298C G TG | Hi Andrea - Happy to hear you're looking along the natural route - that's the way to go. Also Can my 10 year old daughter take Histamine Digest more than one tablet a day, such as lunch time and dinner time? Thanks | Hi Tomomi - Yes she may. You know she's taking too much if she's experiencing constipation. Low histamine is associated with slow bowel transit time and thus constipation. Consider:

Hi Dr. can 1) my 10 year old daughter take Histamine X and Kids Optimal focus together every night? She also takes Histamine digest before dinner time. 2) When is the best time for Histamine Probiotics? Thanks. | Hi Tomomi - Consider:

I just got this for my 5 year old daughter. After 3-4 days of taking 1/2 tablet she started breaking out with pimples on her chin and her bottom lip became very chapped and even bled. I did a 5th day of it and then discontinued it. It is healing up now. She hadn't had anything new introduced to her that I can think of. Her mood and focus has definitely been better! Her teacher even noticed. Is this a possible reaction? | Hi Laura - I'm happy to hear your daughter had good days overall. Here are some things to consider:
I suspect she may have chewed it for a period of time and then didn't have any water afterwards which may have left some of the ingredients for a prolonged period of time on her lips. Keep me posted. In health, |
Hi, My 7yo daughter (80 lbs) struggles with a language delay (especially expressive), extra giddiness, difficulty focusing, slow processing, sensory seeking, stimming, tics, ocd, easily frustrated, extra emotional, social anxiety and frustration (communication delay) , goes to sleep fine but usually wakes around 4am and takes a couple hours to go back to sleep , stomach bloating issues but no constipation, she will also get hives when exposed to cold temperatures. We have had a small hair sample test done which showed high aluminum and mercury and well as inflammation and mineral imbalances. We have switched to clean water, dairy free and gluten free diet as well as eliminating most processed foods. We have definitely seen improvement in doing those things but looking for more. We have tried lots of supplements in the past but stopped everything a few months ago and just focused on nutrition. I started giving her kids optimal focus for about 5 days now. Started with 1/2 of chewable and now giving a whole. I do see improvements. She seems calmer and more focused and even her handwriting has improved and her stick people she likes to draw have much more detail! I do notice she’s slightly more weepy (cries easily but doesn’t last long). I’m considering trying the Folinic acid for her language delay as well as the probiotic for possible yeast (extra giddiness) and bloating and the hives, and also looking at the brain nutrients. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! | Hi Lisa - Well done on the improvements. Great to see! A few things to consider:

Hi, I am considering this for our daughter. We have a 10 yr old daughter who we suspect has adhd and anxiety. She does pretty well in school for now, but at home, she has huge aggressive anxiety ridden outbursts and hard to control emotions/moods along with hyperactivity, very negative mood often, taking forever to go to sleep, worries a lot, etc She won’t sit still to read, etc. She gets a ton of exercise as that seems to calm her and be an outlet for her. What would you suggest? | Hi Ashley I do believe Kids Optimal Focus should help support her healthy moods and focus.* Consider:
If no change after an hour, increase by another 1/4 to 1/2 a chewable after. If she’s great, perfect. If she wakes up the next morning feeling good, don’t give her any. Use only on an as- needed basis. Some need it most days and others periodically. Additionally:
High histamine may be an issue, too. Read the Histamine Guide In health, |
I have a 5.5 year old son who we have gotten word from his kindergarten teacher there are some concerns with Inattention adhd. They have encouraged medication but we are trying to exhaust all other options prior to that route. We have been giving him 2 kids optimal focus with no change, we have just added the kids multi vitamin (1 tablet) as of today and we have also tried 3 times now Thursday, Friday and today adding 1/3 of a capsule of dopamine support…. We got word today that he seemed more fidgety and distracted today compared to last week…. What has been the suggestion for families in this boat? Are we using the right products? Is there another option we should consider? Thank you!!!!!! | Hi Ashley - For inattention, this is a sign of low dopamine and low norepinephrine. Acetylcholine is for hyperactivity. Optimal Focus supports healthy acetylcholine levels.* Dopamine Nutrients and Brain Nutrients support healthy dopamine and norepinephrine levels.* Consider:
See how he does with this support. Then, if needing further support:

My son is 12 and has ADHD with impulsivity issues. He is 5’6” and about 110 pounds. I’m trying to decide if he needs the kids version of optimal focus or the regular adult version- or if he needs something else altogether! Haha. We homeschool and his impulsivity with siblings is our biggest problem. He is constantly hurting them and doing things to pick on them. It seems like that is a stimulant for him. I’d say his other struggle is short term memory- forgetting something I’ve asked him to do just a couple minutes later! He’s not on any meds for ADHD because I refuse to put that stuff in his body. We just need help! What do you guys recommend? | Hi Kira - I believe the Kids Optimal Focus is what you all need in your home. :) Consider:
Soon I will have a downloadable 'How to' Guide for this product and Optimal Focus. Here is an excerpt from it: Typical Suggested Usage Schedule: These are examples of various common usage schedules that people use successfully: For people who are more sensitive, an alternative usage schedule is suggested. Use the Kids Optimal Focus instead of the capsule of Optimal Focus as it allows you more freedom in how much you’re taking. For younger kids, 4 to 8 years old, start with a ¼ tablet. In health, |
Some of the “Who needs this?” items apply to my 4 year old daughter, mostly the behavioral ones. She has debilitating anxiety and maybe some sensory issues/overstimulation. She is very attached to me, mom. I also suspect gut issues and she doesn’t poop daily. I was thinking electrolytes and/or probiotics would help with that. I saw that folinic acid may help with autism and behavioral symptoms as well. What would you suggest? Should I start her on this and introduce things one at a time? | Hi S - Glad you're reading the product descriptions thoroughly. Well done. That definitely helps make an informed decision. Low acetylcholine is also associated with constipation. Consider:
The electrolytes and the Kids Optimal Focus should also help with a healthy bowel movement. If she's still not having a healthy bowel movement, then add in Digestive Enzyme Chewable for her with each meal - 1 chewable tablet. It tastes really good. If still not good enough, add in ProBiota Bifido after dinner. In health, |
Hi! Purchased optimal focus and glutathione for my 8.5 year old who at minimum has adhd, odd and impulsivity leading to focus issues. Likely at least heterozygous on many mutations including mthfr (could be homozygous on some but only mom and dad tested). What would you suggest as starting dose for the above and how do you decide what days you give it? He goes to school mon-Fri right now | Hi Tonja - I'd start just one supplement at a time and use it for a couple days and monitor how he is doing on that one supplement. Then stop it for a day for a wash out period. Then start the new supplement and monitor for a day or two. If he is doing well on both, then whatever amount you gave him, reduce the amount you gave by 1/2 for each one. The synergy of the two together reduces how much you need of each one. Use only days he needs it and on days he's doing well in the morning, skip giving it to him. Too much leads to irritability and headaches and we don't want that. Many people think you have to give a supplement every day. You usually don't. Supplement literally means to 'add to or enhance' so give when he needs enhancing and skip when he doesn't. Consider:
Do one at a time for a couple days or even just once if you see changes you like. Then, reduce by 1/2 - so 1/4 each if he's doing well with 1/2 of each one. Doing every other day is good as it allows his body to process it. If he regresses and shows symptoms again on those off days, then go back to giving it every day as needed. You will learn when he needs it and which one and ultimately, you'll want him to understand what you're doing and using so he can make the decision himself if he needs it or not. Kids are smart. Teach him what each supplement does and why you're using it. In health, |
Hi, My son just turned 5. This seems it would benefit him. He has issues focusing, hyperactive, impulsive, gets frustrated easily, aggressive some days, sleep disturbances, emotionally disregulated, anxiety, sensory seeking. Would this be what you would suggest starting with first or should I start with multivitamin, dopamine or brain nutrients first? He is compound heterozygous for both A1298C and C677T, slow COMT, slow MAOA(RS6323). | Hi Deanna - From what you're sharing, and from hearing stories from other parents, supporting healthy acetylcholine levels does support healthy mood and focus.* Consider:
There's a sweet spot with this supplement - and most supplements. Best to start low and monitor how he is doing. On days where he is doing well, do not give this to him. The beneficial effects tend to last 24 hours or longer especially the longer one takes it. In health, |
What time of day do you give this and can you give it with the kids multi vitamin? Thank you just purchased! | Hi Brooklyn - You take this in the morning after breakfast and can also take in the early afternoon if needed. Do not take within 6 hours or more before bed. You may combine with the multivitamin - however, that's a powerful combination so use less of each than if you were going to give one just by itself. Consider:
I'd first start by giving them just 1 supplement first for a few days and monitor how they are doing. Then, stop that one. Then introduce the other one for a few days and monitor. If going well with both, then combine both but reduce how much you're giving each by 1/2. If one of them makes your child irritable, then stop giving it. Wait a day to wash it out, Then try again with 1/2 the amount you gave prior. If they are still irritable, then you can skip another day, then try 1/2 of the amount you just gave again. These are quite potent supplements so best to start low so you and your kid have a great experience. On days they are doing really well, don't give any supplements at all. The beneficial effects of these supplements can last over a day or more. In health, |
Does dr lynch feel inattentive adhd is nutrient driven and can be remedied through products like this? There is so much variation in opinion out there and I feel like parents are pulling any card… zinc, magnesium, iron, dyes etc…. What has been dr lynches success rate with this? And would it be beneficial to add dopamine nutrient and brain health to the equation? I read a lot that adhd (specifically inattention adhd for our case) is linked to dopamine, norepinephrine, and choline of some type. What is the best course to help manage this? | Hi Ashley - I hear you and your points are very valid. Inattentive ADHD is more dopamine, norepi and some acetylcholine but less so. That said, you're looking to support healthy dopamine and norepinephrine levels by using Dopamine Nutrients. Consider:
Best to start low and one at a time. The Dopamine Nutrients by itself may be sufficient. I'm currently experimenting with a combination of all three - Brain, Dopamine and Optimal Focus - and the results were pretty impressive. Keep in mind that the amounts of each is a lot lower than the suggested use. Start with just Dopamine Nutrients. The success rate? Very very very good. Exceptional. I have a LOT of college kids utilizing these nootropics with incredible success. In health, |
Hello, my 11-year-old daughter tried this product and said it made her feel very angry. We previously tried regular Optimal Focus, but it seemed to make her emotional. Her teachers are encouraging us to explore pharmaceutical options, but I’m doing everything I can to avoid that route. Do you have any suggestions for other products that might help, or insight into why she may have reacted this way? Thank you in advance! | Hi Renae - It may be simply that she is getting too much and too often. The key is to give a small amount as needed and don't give any when not. How do you know how much to give and when to stop? By experience. Right now, she is definitely getting too much and too often. Please resubmit your question and share how much you were giving her, when and how much - and for how long. Thank you Dr. Lynch |
Hi!! A quick question, I got the kids optimal focus for my 14 yr old niece and she says she notices less brain fog, has better concentration, but that by the end of the school day, she is so tired and has to nap. She takes it in the morning. Any tips for finding the right dose? | Hi Alissa - Great question. Kids Optimal Focus supports healthy acetylcholine levels.* Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that is calming. Kids, and adults, who have hyperactive brains are typically low in acetylcholine. They're wired, full of energy, bouncing around and not able to sit still or focus on anything. They're brain is full of stimulating activity. By calming it down, they can focus, learn and get things done. If you calm it down too much, you get sleepy. The brain is under a lot of work when it's focusing. If she's performing well at school, then her brain likely needs additional support not less Kids Optimal Focus. Consider:
Her brain is getting training on how it is supposed to work - as it hasn't been working well for a long time. Apply these and follow up in a month. In health, |
Hello. I just ordered the Optimal focus for my 10year old son. He has ADHD and struggles with focus, forgetfulness, avoidance, impulsiveness, and I believe is struggling socially. I give him multivitamin, vitamin d, fish oil capsules vitamin B drops and magnesium glycinate in the evening. I give him this because of various things I’ve read and tried to get the best no garbage products. I want nothing more then to see him be able to have a hang out time with a friend, being able to control his peskynsss(jumping on poking etc) and just have fun. Looking through who optimal focus is recommended for he checks the box for nine of them. I don’t want to put him on medication but at times when I’m desperate it has crossed my mind. ☹️. Any other insight or product recommendations and appreciated! | Hi Melanie - Checking the boxes seems like a great fit indeed! Consider pausing the Vitamin B Drops for now as I suspect his multivitamin has B vitamins in it. Too many B vitamins can increase symptoms especially headaches, difficulty sleeping and irritability. If you see him regress after stopping the vitamin B drops, then apparently he needs them. With multivitamins, the same thing can happen. You may want to pause them and see how he does without them for a week. Then reintroduce it by itself without the vitamin B drops. He may do well with the multivitamin a few days a week vs daily. For the Optimal Focus or the Kids Optimal Focus, I do recommend the Kids Optimal Focus. Kids Optimal Focus - 2 chewables is equivalent to 1 capsule of Optimal Focus. Consider:
My son now self-regulates how much Optimal Focus he takes and knows when he needs Brain Nutrients or Glutathione or Electrolytes. It took him time to learn but now he's on it. In health, |
Hi! I am looking for long covid support for my daughter. She still has nausea and headaches, and occasional dizziness post infection. Could this potentially help, or possibly this in conjunction with your glutothione lozenge and electrolytes? Her stomach is sensitive and I don’t want to make anything worse. I have given her some of your liposomal c but need a good regimen to be consistent with to see what helps her. Oh! And she is taking your probiotic histiminX every day in the evening after dinner because I suspect histamine problems. We tried histamine nutrients through this but for some reason she gets a really big wave of nausea after taking it even if we take it with food. I’m not quite sure why that’s happening now because it hasn’t happened in the past, so I’m thinking it has to do with Covid. Thank you for any insight you might have for us about long covid support! | Hi Stephanie - I hear you. The dizziness and nausea post infection is a struggle. Make sure she is eating sufficient protein three times a day with each meal. Consider:
Kids Optimal Focus may be supportive for her. I do believe the above is a more gentle approach and should be done prior to using this. In health, |
Good morning, My son is 5 and nonverbal on the spectrum. I feel like since he was 18 months old, I've tried everything under the sun to help him and have seen very very little progress. One of his biggest issues is that he does not imitate- no gestures like clapping, waving, or pointing. He doesn't seem to connect that it is something we want him to copy. Of course, that also means he does not imitate any sounds, so no speech. Is this product something that could help? I have been working hard on his gut and his poops are finally formed and 1-2 times and day and his sleep is very good. Thank you so much! Amy | Hi Amy - I do believe this could support your son's health, yes. Consider:

Hello, I am taking care of a little patient as his Chiropractor, and am trying to support the family in ways to help their son focus & thrive in school. He's been diagnosed by a child Phychologist with ADHD combined type, generalized anxiety with learning difficulty on writing and reading. Mom's biggest concern is whether or not it's safe to try taking the Kids Optimal focus while he's also on all these other meds? (meds listed below) What he's currently taking: Sertraline HCL 50mg Montelukast sodium 4mg Dexylmethylphenidate HCL extended release 15 Multivitamin (just checked with mom and it does have folic acid so i'll chat with them about that) Fish oil Zyrtec Magnesium gummy 100mg Thanks for your help! | Hi Lacey - Thank you for supporting him. Looks like he needs a fair bit of support. I definitely think that Kids Optimal Focus may support him well. I'd start him low say 1/4 chewable after breakfast. This is only to be used as needed when needed and in varying amounts depending on how much support he needs at that moment. I get that this makes it harder to know but it's important to be aware of since this is a very potent acetylcholine supportive supplement. Too little and no benefit will be seen and too much may increase irritability and headaches. I wondering if the prescribed medications are interfering with his ability to learn. Too much or too little dopamine/serotonin can definitely cause symptoms of ADHD combined type. A deficiency in acetylcholine and dopamine is aligned with ADHD combined type. You can combine the Kids Optimal Focus with these medications but start very low - like 1/4 a chewable. I'd also talk with the prescribing health professional about adjusting the potencies of these prescriptive medications. A combination of Phosphatidyl Serine, L-Theanine and Kids Optimal Focus may be what's needed nutritionally to support a healthy brain and healthy mood.* In health, |
Hello, My 5 yr old has not been tested for anything other than mthfr. He has to go to public school this fall. He does well at his small daycare but big classes with lots of kids he gets frustrated. At home he mostly can hardly sit still to read a book. He forgets very easily. His attention span is so short. He gets angry really quickly. He gets frustrated when you try to teach him things. Would he be a good candidate for this supplement even if he hasnt been tested for the apo gene or had a sleep study done? | Hi Melanie - Sounds like my son back before I formulated Optimal Focus for him. One does not need genetic testing to know what supplements to give. Actually, often times people order genetic testing thinking that the report will answer all their questions and give you actually false information and false hope. All too common. Consider:

My almost 9 year old son is struggling with focus in school and home. Very emotional, especially during basketball games. Hi there, I have an almost 5 year boy that has ADHD, very impulsive and hyperactive. He is often emotionally dysregulated, has a speech delay, and is a sensory seeker. It is possible he is on the spectrum. He also has chronic ear infections, even with tubes (twice). We have tried many supplements with him, and he has shown improvements. The main issue is the impulsivity/hyperactivity and the emotional ups and downs. He is a happy boy that needs some extra love. Do you think this supplement would help him? Thank you so much for your time and any guidance. | Hi Meg - I hear you and yes, I do. For the ear infections:

Dr. Lynch, I am 46 with ADHD and one copy of C677t MTHFR. In 2023, my primary care physician suggested I try Seroquel 25 mg for insomnia. I have suffered from insomnia since I was a child, but it really ramped up after my second child was born in 2014. I was on 25 mg Seroquel for about a year and a half. I had glorious sleep and it was extremely restorative for my body as a whole. But I started to notice some scary symptoms like memory lapses. After doing some research, I decided to wean off of Seroquel. It is not supposed to be used off label for insomnia anyway (it is an antipsychotic, and that is NOT my diagnosis). Seroquel's function is to balance dopamine and serotonin. I do miss having regular wonderful sleep, and I am now much more irritable and short fused than I used to be. I have been completely off of Seroquel since December 1, having titrated down in very, very small increments over a 6-month span of time. Is there a chance that this supplement could help me regulate and rebalance my serotonin and dopamine levels? I also have always had allergies, and I am currently taking allergy shots to try to help me with my overall high histamine load. I have several seasonal allergies, and no actual food allergies that I'm aware of. I used to take Benadryl regularly, which now makes me question if my acetylcholine levels might be low. It was not known in the 1980s- 2010 that regular Benadryl use could cause acetylcholine and choline levels to plummet. I would appreciate your opinion on this, as I tried to navigate these uncharted waters! | Hi Cindy - Glad you are weaning down. Since you had such great success with Seroquel, it's important to know how it works. Seroquel essentially works by reducing the effect of numerous neurotransmitters in the brain:
This means it just seriously quiets the mind - which explains why you felt you had memory issues. Consider:
As you can see, I have not recommended acetylcholine support. It may be useful but from what I'm seeing, the above is a better fit. If you get success, awesome :) If you need further support, reach out and ask a follow up question. In health, |
Hi! Could this potentially cause an ocular migraine? This past month, my 11 year old daughter has had strep, flu a, and Covid. She has long covid symptoms of nausea, headaches, and her legs feel weak. She also sometimes gets dizzy. I gave 1 chewable one day, and she said her legs felt a little better. I gave another chewable the next day and she got an ocular migraine- blurred vision in one eye and pain in her head. Too much acetylcholine? Or is this a coincidence possibly? I did not give anymore of this after the migraine. Too much histamine? Her stomach is so weak, I didn’t know about giving histamine nutrients or how much. I’m so stumped on this but want to help her nausea, headaches, and legs. I gave 1/4-1/2 of brain nutrients and your electrolytes during her migraine and that seemed to help but she is still experiencing blurred vision in her periphery vision and a little on the top. Would Brain nutrients continue to help her? She says her eye still hurts. (We are in contact with her doctor as well but trying to learn about this myself too and try anything that might help). Thank you so much! | Hi Stephanie - That's a rough week. Look into our Immune Intensive formulation. Use 1 serving immediately upon feeling like you need healthy immune support.* Then use again 1-3 times a day while needing healthy immune support, then stop. It's not a daily supplement. Too much acetylcholine may trigger headaches. I often find that taking Optimal Focus or Kids Optimal Focus, it's best to skip a day between especially if the person is already feeling pretty good. Then, you can take some again the following day. One mother said she supports her son by giving him Kids Optimal Focus in this manner:
Every child is unique but the key is using less on the following day. Consider:

Will this be helpful for my daughter (10) who has inattentive ADHD? She also has some anxiety which increases when she takes stimulants | Hi Casey - Inattentive ADHD is formerly known as ADD. ADD is associated more with low dopamine and low norepinephrine. Consider:
This way these support her healthy dopamine levels.* In health, |
Hi! I recognize my 8yo son in many of your ADD posts Dr Lynch. What an eye opener! The poor working memory (accompanied with slow responding rate), being forgetful/difficulty learning, daydreaming in class (only when the teacher has addressed him personally does he start doing his assignments), preferring to sit on the couch watching movies or gaming instead of being active, sometimes obsessive behavior (e.g. "wait mom, I have to check whether I have flushed the toilet"), tends to freeze in unfamiliar situations. Our diet consists of vegetables, proteins like beef, chicken, eggs, cheese and yoghurt, fats (butter and tallow) and home made spelt sourdough bread. We only drink water. Sweets only on special occasions and limited. He takes vitamin D3/K2 drops and magnesium malate every morning after breakfast. His gaming time is limited to 1 hour twice a week, the rest of the time he has to play, both indoors and outdoors. But all this doesn't seem to help him at school. I'm thinking of trying Optimal Focus, Dopamine Nutrients, Brain Nutrients and/or Glutathione Plus. Could these be supplements that can support him and does he needs all of them or perhaps others? Thank you! Sabrina | Hi Sabrina - Thorough question. Thank you. Great job so far on what you're doing with him. Make sure you're filtering your drinking water - just in case you aren't - it's very important. Consider starting with the basics first:
Start here. Let's see how he does. If needing more support, reach out again. In health, |
Is this ok to try if someone is taking anti-epileptic medication (Keppra and Amantadine)? Looking to help 8 year old improve focus/learning while at school. He doesn’t struggle with hyperactivity. Thank you, | Hi Brittany - I don't think so. We have to be very careful when taking anti-seizure meds as anything that stimulates the brain may be problematic. Let's start with some basic fundamentals as I do believe these could be helpful for him and he can take these while using the meds:
This supports his brain and full body without focusing too hard on neurotransmission. In health, |
Hello, my son has slow MAOA and can be aggressive and extremely impulsive! His neurotransmitter results showed crazy high dopamine and serotonin...would this help balance them? | Hi Lucy - This can be gut related. I recommend checking and ordering a comprehensive stool analysis with your doctor. I do not recommend this supplement for him. Instead, consider:
Sometimes, the high histamine contributes to these high neurotransmitters and the high histamine can be coming from his gut, foods and drinks. If he has high histamine symptoms in addition, this could really help him. Look at this Histamine Guide In health, |
My 8 yr old daughter just started a non-stimulant ADHD medication for attention issues. Can optimal focus be along with her medication? | Hi Amy - If your daughter just started, it may be best to see how the medication works before adding in another variable. Additionally, I don't think combining them is a good idea - it likely be done but it's a lot for a young brain. If the medication isn't performing, then talk with the prescribing doctor to see how to stop it. Once stopped, then I'd consider adding in the Kids Optimal Focus. While this is a supplement, it's quite powerful in how it performs. If you want her to continue using the medication, then you can support her with these supplements together with the medication as it's fully body support:

I am looking for something to help with my 9 year old son’s impulse control, in addition to support for hyperactivity and focus challenges. Would this possibly help with the impulse issues? (I.e not great decision making, quick to react intensely to situations, etc) | Hi Carleigh - It may be the right choice or Serotonin Nutrients may be. It also may require a blend of both. You may consider 1 chewable of Kids Optimal Focus with 1/2 capsule of Serotonin Nutrients. Start with only ONE of these supplements at a time to see how he responds. I'd start with Serotonin Nutrients - 1/2 capsule - mixed in a bite of food - first. Based on your description (impulse control issues, hyperactivity, and focus challenges): In health, |
Hi! My son is 8 yrs old with ASD and ADHD. I tried natural products for years but he kept falling further and further behind his peers so he is now on ADHD meds. Is it safe to start taking Optimal Focus too? Thanks! | Hi Josephine - I hear you. It's hard to find natural products that actually work. Children and adults with ASD tend to lack healthy levels of acetylcholine. Thus, Kids Optimal Focus should support healthy attention and focus as it supports healthy acetylcholine levels.* ADHD meds tend to be more stimulating and focus in on dopamine and norepinephrine. I can see this potentially increasing his irritability, insomnia and headaches. If he's improving, then great but do watch out for those symptoms. If he gets them, then it's either too much dosage, taking it too frequently or just the wrong medication. It's not safe to combine ADHD medications along with Optimal Focus. It is just too strong. I've seen great success with Lithium Orotate in supporting healthy mood in those with ASD. That is something you may want to consider and it's ok to use alongside ADHD medications. I do prefer you try when he's not using the medication first so you can see how it supports him. You can talk with his prescribing doctor about starting and stopping his ADHD medications if you want to try Kids Optimal Focus. The half-life of Ritalin is about 3 hours so it's out of his system in a day. In health, |
Hello, my son (asd) has taken your optimal focus a few times now and each time it's made him aggressive and have meltdowns, which is not the norm. I only gave him half a tablet. Does he maybe need something else to support him while taking this? | Hi Cassandra - I'm working on identifying why some people respond aggressively towards acetylcholine. I suspect it may be due to how it connects with so many other neurotransmitters and excessive histamine but I'm not sure specifics - yet. Histamine Nutrients has been quite supportive for children with ASD. I would not use this currently with him. ASD is known to be a cholinergic deficiency so many kids will do well with healthy acetylcholine support. That said, there must be something that must be done prior and I'm not sure yet what that is. Perhaps it is supporting healthy levels of histamine or dopamine or a flora adjustment in their microbiome. Please ask my team for a refund. In health, |
My son just turned 8 (55 lbs). He is on a multivitamin, B complex mf (1/3 capsule TID), B2 100mg, ALCAR 250mg BID, glutathione lozenge, folinic acid drops (15mg) and Alpha GPC (50mg BID) and CDP choline (50mg BID). His short memory, focus, motivation, processing speed, working memory, and maturity have improved so much while on these supplements. However, I feel like Alpha GPC and CDP Choline result in crashes in between doses on many days. I would like him to try your Optimal Focus instead since it contains things that slow down the breakdown of acetylcholine. How much should I try giving him? What else should I give to support this? I think he's suffering from long v*rus and long v*x. We like in the Seattle area and the lack of sunshine at this time of year really affects him too (low energy, MCAS). | Hi YT - I like your thinking here. I hear you, too, on the Seattle weather. Hi! My son is 9 and has been officially diagnosesd with ADHD diagnosis/hyperactive type. He has displayed ADHD symptoms since he was a toddler, and also has a small jaw and narrow palate, which we are addressing. I find the correlation between airway and ADHD symptoms fascinating, and it's definitely a large piece of his puzzle. He currently takes the probiota histaminx and a half tablet of Clemastine for his allergies. We will be starting him on magnesium, fish oil, and the children's chewable MVI (he also has MTHFR). His provider recommended Brillia, a homeopathic option for ADHD, but I'm also considering the Optimal Focus. Not sure if that or Brain Nutrients would be best as a starting point? | Hi Stephanie - I'm happy to hear you're working on his airway. That's huge. One thing I want to really point out is we can be born with genetic type ADHD or it can be acquired - or it can be a mix of both where the genetics increase vulnerability and then the environment triggers it. I find the hyperactive type doing well with supporting healthy acetylcholine levels. Healthy acetylcholine levels are supported by Optimal Focus.* Consider:

Hi, my son is 5 years old, over the last year or so has developed some behavioral tics, currently rapid body twitches. He’s always been a sensitive kiddo to sounds, new things, changes etc and no formal diagnosis of ADHD but I would suspect mild. He’s highly intelligent. Just wondered if this might help with the tics potentially? Or would a different supplement to support neurotransmitters be better? Please advise, thx! | Hi Bridgette - Typically movement disorders like tics or twitches are related to dopamine dysregulation. I would suggest Dopamine Nutrients, but he's only 5 and I'm not sure he can swallow capsules. And it may be too strong for him. Try the Brain Nutrients first, 1/4 - 1/2 lozenge, and see how he goes. Then you can incorporate the Kids Optimal Focus if he needs more assistance. Make sure he gets enough protein in, especially at breakfast time. He needs protein and iron to make dopamine. If he's eating cereals try giving him some scrambled eggs on occasion. Protein smoothies can sometimes be helpful when kids are fussy and don't want to eat protein-rich foods. I also recommend getting his iron levels checked, depending on how he goes with needles. Low iron is pretty common in young children as they need it for growth. Let us know how you go! Two of my 3 sons have been diagnosed with ADHD. After trying natural supplements and homeopathic therapies to no avail, they have both been taking Concerta for 7 years and this has been helpful. My oldest son has grown and probably needs an increased dosage of Concerta. However, would like to try this product first before increasing Concerta dose. Is it safe to take this product in conjunction with Concerta? | Hi Veronica - Concerta works by keeping dopamine and norepinephrine longer in the brain. Combining Optimal Focus with Concerta would be ok to do but need to start with a low dose like 1 capsule out of the 3 capsule serving size. Ideally, you could talk with their doctor and taper them off the Concerta. Then, you'd start them on:

Hello when will this become available? My 5 yr old is using Optimal Focus. I'm opening the capsule and putting about half into applesauce and giving it to him. Should I give him the entire capsule or just half? This is what I'm doing now until the Kids Optimal Focus comes out. | Hi Danielle - It was supposed to be here already and not sure why it's not. My team may know. Dosage depends on how your son is feeling. If he is appearing more calm, focused, better mood, learning then that is a great amount for him. If more irritable, then it may be too much. If no changes, then he may need more. I suspect that 1/2 a capsule for a 5 year old is enough but everyone is different. I'd also skip a day or two with him. On days he seems great, do not give him any. On days he seems unfocused or not listening well, then consider using it to support healthy focus.* In health, |
Can this be taken if child is taking a daily stimulant? | Hi Amy - I'd say yes as Optimal Focus is geared more towards acetylcholine which is a parasympathetic neurotransmitter - ie. calming. If a child is taking a stimulant, then possibly Brain Nutrients and/or Dopamine Nutrients could be an alternative to that - if looking for a replacement. You could not use both a daily stimulant and Brain Nutrients or Dopamine Nutrients. It's one or the other. In health, |
Can the Kids Optimal Focus be taken with prescription Guanfacine? | Hi Rebecca - I am not seeing absolute contraindications. Talk with your prescribing doctor to see if supporting healthy acetylcholine levels along with taking Guanfacine is ok to do. The literature I am reading states it is not entirely clear what the drug does in the body besides inhibiting stress induced catecholamines. Starting low with say 1/2 a chewable is a good idea along with talking with your health professional. In health, |
Is this okay for a child with autism 11 years old turning 12 soon also taking a multi and the optimal magnesium ? | Hi Chrissy - This would be a good supportive choice, yes. I'd start out low - say 1/2 a chewable with breakfast and observe his behavior after 30 minutes of taking it. If no change is noticed at all, then your child may need more. 2 chewables of Kids Optimal Focus is equivalent to 1 capsule of the Optimal Focus. There are 3 capsules in 1 serving of the Optimal Focus. In health, |
Thank you for the recommendation. Can I open the pills and place in a juice or water to drink? Magnesium and Histamine taken together? Thank you! I will start with these till the Kids Optimal Focus becomes available. | Hi Maria - Yes you may. ;) Best |
I see that you are coming out with Optimal Focus for kids 4+. I notice it helps for REM Sleep. My child has a hard time staying asleep and wakes at least once a night and can't fall asleep at night. He is also lacking in fine motor skills. In knowing this, would it be better to give him half a tablet at night and half in the morning? He is very anxious when he comes to me from the co-parent's house will this help him? | Hi Maria - It sounds like Kids Optimal Focus may support your child. I would give 1/2 a lozenge in the morning with breakfast - not at night as it supports healthy focus and concentration.* The healthy REM sleep support is possible by giving it with breakfast still so no need to give in the evening. To support healthy onset of sleep at night, consider:

Make sure the WiFi and the phones are off at night as these contribute to mast cell activation and thus mood changes and sleep issues. I'd also go for a walk with him and see if he will share what he is anxious about. In health, |
