Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated a day ago
Question | Answer |
I have gotten both the MF and regular childrens’ multis for my kids, and a couple of them (9 and 13) have said that both kinds made them feel nauseated, even when taken with a high protein breakfast. They only take one tablet around 3 times a week. It’s gotten to the point that they don’t want to take these. My younger kids like them and haven’t complained about feeling sick with them. Any insight? | Hi Brooke - If one is feeling off from taking these, to me it's a sign that their digestive system is a bit on the weaker side or their microbiome is imbalanced or both. We definitely want them feeling good after taking so if they don't want to take it, I'd just keep giving it to the younger kids. For the older kids, consider:
I'd also evaluate what they are eating for breakfast. It may be there are actually reacting to foods they are eating and associating it with the multivitamin. It very well could be the vitamins but wanted to point out this possibility, too. In health, |
Dr. Lynch, I need to know why is this the ONLY multivitamin you’re not using the “superior” kind of k2? The vitaMK7 which I was told today by Cassandra that it uses the all trans version which is the one our bodies need and not the dangerous type of mk7. She assured me even though she couldn’t share COAs that it is indeed the “ Yes, the vitaMK7® is directly sourced from Gnosis.” So why the only kids multi MF doesn’t use the same kind? I am so bummed out about this. Also the bottles have a 2023 date when do they even expire? How much damage am I doing to my kid by giving him these? He has mthfr gene mutation and adhd, ASD, mood disorder, so many things going on and the thought that for months I’ve been hurting him by giving this multi vitamin when his body already has such a hard time detoxing and putting this k2 poison in him it’s killing me. It does show the multivitamin ONE MF can be suitable for kids ages 4 and up but the dosages are higher than in this kids version. So this kids MF doesn’t use the all trans mk7 right? It uses the junkie kind? 😞 | Hi Mariana - The MK7 that we are using in the Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF is still a quality form of vitamin K2. We wouldn't use a crappy version ;) There was likely a stock issue of the ingredient which forced us to use the non trademarked form of K2. That said, this is still a quality form of K2 as MK7. If a product is made in 2023, they typically have a 3 year shelf life. It's undergoing stability testing now so we don't have EXP dates yet. The key to having a stable vitamin is keeping it tightly closed, in the shade, out of the sun and keep in a room that is not as humid (bathrooms are the worst). I'd look into our Kids Optimal Focus for your son. Introduce him to 1/4 chewable after his breakfast. Please read this document about Kids Optimal Focus: Those with ASD, ADHD hyperactivity and mood disorders are typically low in acetylcholine. By supporting healthy acetylcholine levels, he may have a healthy mood and focus.* We've had some tremendous results with this supplement. In health, |
Hello! I'm looking for the current supplementation for my 9 year old son with inattentive ADHD and dysgraphia who also recently got a genetic test that showed slow COMT. I was going towards your product with combined folinate and hydroxy b12, but I see this multi contains those too. What do you suggest? And anything else that would be helpful. Thank you! | Hi Alana - Inattentive ADHD needs more folate and more B12. A genetic test showing a slow COMT shows a tendency - it does not show what is going on real time. The key here is to support him gently with folate so using Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF is a good one to use - and start with 1/2 a chewable after a protein based breakfast. Consider:

Is it possible, suitable/healthy and still effective to take this multivitamin sublingually? | Hi Emma - Sublingually will take forever to dissolve and it's unnecessary. After a meal, chew it very well, can hold in your mouth for a bit, then swallow. Rinse your mouth with filtered water after swallowing to get all the nutrients down and taste out of your mouth. Hello Dr. Lynch, I am a longtime customer. I am looking for advice on what supplements I can give a 5 year old boy with recurring symptoms of Lyme disease. Thank you for any additional information. Kind Regards, Danielle Muller | I am not good with Lyme Disease. Consider reading the book by Dr. Darin Ingels A few foundational recommendations I can provide that you may consider:
These are supportive of many of his genes which are getting quite dirty from the infections. I'd also look into sauna but study this as young kids do not sweat well and thus can overheat quickly. Do not force anyone to stay in a sauna a long time - they need to self regulate and get out often as needed. Putting a cool damp hand towel on their head can be helpful, too. In health, |
Hi! I’m wondering if this would possibly cause nose bleeds in my son for some reason. He is 8 years old , takes one chewable 3-4x a week. He also drinks your optimal electrolyte (almost everyday, 1/2 scoop on normal days and a full scoop on days when he plays sports or is extra sweaty) and takes your fish oil 2-3x a week. He either gets nose bleeds in the morning or while playing tennis/exerting energy. Thank you for any insight into this! | There is nothing in the Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF, the Fish Oil, or the Optimal Electrolyte that stands out to me that could be contributing to nose bleeds. A typical reason for nosebleeds is high histamine or high glutamate. They often go hand-in-hand. Exercising does increase histamine, especially if nitric oxide levels are suboptimal. You could try:
Let us know how he goes :) Regards, |
Is my son able to just swallow this instead of chew it? Is it still effective? He's getting better at swallowing a pill. Not sure he's ready for a long capsule though. | Great question. I would have him bite it once or twice and then swallow. Yes it is still very effective. In health, |

Hi there, My son is currently taking a multi with methyfolate in it but we want to switch over to Seeking Health. I’m just not sure if we should get him the regular or MF. He is autistic and not able to communicate how he feels on the one he currently takes. His dad and I are both hetero MTHFR but he’s not been tested yet. He’s never really hyper or irritable and has a naturally calm and happy personality. But he does have issues with focus and waking up in the night. Is there one multi that you think would be better suited for him? Thank you. | I think it's best to use the MF version to start as it is less stimulating. Consider starting with 1 chewable Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF with breakfast. We are currently working on a Kids Optimal Focus chewable - being made right now. It's lower potency. Essentially, 2 chewables is equivalent to 1 capsule of Optimal Focus. Read about Optimal Focus and see if that sounds like him. If it does, I'd consider giving him 1/2 capsule mixed in a bite of food. For sleep, consider having him eat dinner with some additional protein and carbohydrates in it - and not too far away from bedtime - say a few hours. If he's in bed by 9 pm, consider dinner at 7 pm for example. His blood sugar may be off which is what is waking him up - possibly. Make sure his phone is turned off or on airplane mode and WiFi is turned off. In health, |
We would appreciate your suggestion for an 11 year old girl recently diagnosed with high triglycerides and has recent(quick)belly wait gain, no weight gain any where else. Past mention by physician of possible adhd and occasional facial tick. She is an active girl and the family eats quite healthy, she does have increased sweet cravings lately. We were considering omega 3's & kids chewable multi MF. Seeing how that did and then possibly adding optimal focus? We would greatly appreciate your input and thoughts! Also talked about no screens before bed and protein rich breakfast(no skipping breakfast and no sweets). Wondered about electrolytes too? Thank you so very much! | She may be going through puberty and hormonal changes leading to water retention. This can be especially the case if you're noticing increased irritability and high histamine symptoms and difficulty falling asleep. Rapid onset of weight like this may be liver congestion and seems like it is due to high triglycerides. Be good to see what her liver enzymes are doing - ALT/AST and GGT - along with fasting glucose. I suspect her estrogen levels are higher which may be 'normal' for this time period. Consider:
Let's see how she does with these. Make sure she is pooping each day as constipation can increase liver congestion and weight gain. If she's craving sweets, the supplements above may support this. She can enjoy honey and fruit and berries - and the frozen Optimal Electrolyte popsicles. |
I have an 11 year old son who is homozygous for C677T and I’m trying to decide between the two chewable options. For the last few months I have been giving him your previous children’s non chewable methylated multivitamin (2 capsules, 4 times a week) and he would sometimes complain of headaches. He is very active, plays sports every day, his mind is sharp and he’s motivated. He shows some signs of ADHD and OCD, has brittle nails and is very lean/skinny. I’m conflicted on whether the MF or methyl form is best for him or if I should alternate between the two. I’m also interested in if the glutathione supplement will benefit him. Thanks for your guidance! | I'd use the one you chose here - the Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF. I'd start him on 1/2 -1 chewable in the morning with a protein based breakfast of eggs, meat or a protein based smoothie. Only give this to him when he feels he needs additional energy. He will learn how he feels after taking it. He likely will enjoy 1 chewable a few days a week no problem. For moments of OCD, that may be associated with low serotonin levels. Support healthy serotonin levels with Serotonin Nutrients.* On days he is feeling fine and doing well, do not give this to him. I highly recommend the Optimal Electrolyte in the morning or during the day for him - and definitely in his water bottle during practice and competitions. If he is sweating a lot, add another 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the electrolyte blend. The Optimal Electrolyte has added creatine to it which supports healthy weight. Make sure he is getting sufficient protein. He is exercising a lot so he needs more protein. I like Goat Whey. He can blend it in a smoothie with frozen organic berries and some honey. Before bed, he should use a capsule of ProBiota HistaminX. Gut health is key. In the morning, he can use 1/2 a lozenge of Glutathione Plus Lozenges. These will support him yes as athletes deplete glutathione. In health, |
Do you recommend having my chid take this in the morning? Will it help them with focus? Thanks! | I recommend using 1/2 a chewable to start with your kids' breakfast which ideally contains protein like milk, eggs, meat or some type of smoothie that has collagen or such in it. The nutrients found in this multivitamin chewable do support focus especially when combined with a protein based breakfast. I'd also consider mixing a 1/2 a scoop of Optimal Electrolyte in a glass of filtered water or a water bottle and having your kid drink that over time. Hydration is key for healthy focus. In health, |
Hello, Thankyou for your super informative. Podcast. There you spoke about brain nutrients changing your one son and the other needed other support. This is where I get confused between add and adhd treatment without medication. I would say I’m on the journey reading your book a second time and workbook. Trying to understand how to support rather than genetic testing yet. As a number one focus. My 10 we suspect has ADHD. He has had a phyc education analysis positive severe dyslexia as well as ADD. However at home he really becomes more hyper and relentlessly teased his younger brother as I suspect looking for dopamine from behaviour. I don’t want to irresponsibly give him too many of not the right thing. I have brain nutrients and at 10 what should I start with? Please help his behaviour is really hurting our family. Thank you! Celeste Heppner | I hear you. ADHD is associated commonly with low acetylcholine levels. Optimal Focus supports healthy acetylcholine levels.* ADD is commonly associated with low dopamine levels. Dopamine Nutrients and Brain Nutrients support healthy dopamine levels.* I do think you're correct in that you should consider Dopamine Nutrients with him along with Brain Nutrients. I'd start him on 1/2 lozenge of Brain Nutrients upon waking in the morning. I'd also have him sip a 1/2 glass of Optimal Electrolyte. Then, with breakfast, consider Kids Multivitamin Chewable - 1 chewable. Let's get this foundation in him and see where you are. If he needs additional support, then give him 1 capsule of Dopamine Nutrients - but do not do this until you have done the above as he may not need it. I'd also get him involved in sports or some activity, camps and chores around the house. The busier the kid is the better - up to a point. Make sure WiFi is off at bedtime and his phone is on airplane mode as well. Ensure he is getting sufficient protein in him each day as well - especially breakfast. Ditch the cold cereals and go for meat, eggs in the morning. In health, |
Hi there, I've started both of my boys on this vitamin and they seem to be doing well, it can be difficult to see whether behavior changes are due to supplements or not. Are there certain things to look out for in young children to see whether or not this is the right choice over the methylated version? We've always used methylated versions in the past with other companies, but liked the idea of the MF version encouraging the body to methylate on its own. I'm just not sure if the methylated version would be better for them. Thank you! | Good question. Methylated nutrients are useful for kids who have low mood, low drive and low cognitive function. Unmethylated forms are useful for kids who are feeling overall healthy or quick to irritability. Generally speaking, I find that kids do better with the MF version of vitamins than methylated. I think the older we get, the more methylated we need. It's odd because kids are growing so fast - but they also need the form of folate that supports blood cells and immune cells and organ cells - and that is folinic acid - which is found in the MF versions. You can always have both the MF version and the regular version - and experiment with them. On days your kids are really beat and need additional support, on a sports day, then give the methylated version. On days your kids are doing well overall, and not doing anything too demanding, use the MF version. In health, |
My 10-year-old just finished treatment for Leukemia. Should I have an iron panel completed prior to giving her this supplement with iron? My child did have a few blood transfusions. I did schedule an appointment with an integrative pediatrician but don't want to wait a month to start my child on a supplement. | Happy to hear she finished the treatment ;) When she is pronounced 'all clear' by her doctors, I'd consider 1/2 the Glutathione Plus Lozenge upon waking up in the morning. She will need this - but not until she is pronounced all clear. The amount of iron in the Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF is fine for her to use. Start her on 1/2 a chewable with a protein-based breakfast. Let her body get adjusted to these nutrients. You should also try 1/2 a chewable so you see how it feels. Always take the chewable multivitamins with food. In health, |
Is the dosage the same for adults? | With multivitamins, it's not really by age as the FDA likes it. It's more about how much additional nutrients do you need. For some adults, the Kids Multivitamin Chewable MF is perfect at 1 chewable. Others would need 2 chewables and others would need 4-6 chewables. It all depends on your lifestyle, food choices, environment and genetics - and how many medications you're on. I'd definitely give this a shot and start with 1 chewable with breakfast. It tastes excellent and will definitely give you a pick-me-up. Then the next morning if feeling a need for support, try 2 chewables with your breakfast. Play with it. In health, |
Hi Dr Lynch, At what age would you recommend moving onto an adult multi? My son turned 10 recently and just wondering whether to continue to give him a "kids" multi like this one, and wait until he's 12 before moving onto an adult one? Thanks! | Great question. It's not really about the age. It's more about how much additional nutrients one needs. I know adults who use this chewable for themselves. It tastes great, gives them what they need and off they go throughout their day. I'd continue using a kids for him until he is really growing fast and showing signs of needing more nutrients: fatigue, weak nails, lazy, brain not working as well. I'd start him on 1 chewable with breakfast. See how he does with that. You should try it, too, so you can feel how it makes you feel. It's quite effective :) In health, |
I’m curious why there isn’t choline in this multivitamin? My son is going through a phase of meat/egg aversion, and I’m wondering if I need to supplement separately. | Choline tastes awful as a chewable. One also needs a fairly good amount of choline and it would really taste badly. I recommend he consider 1 capsule of Optimal Focus. This not only choline but also things which really support the healthy activation of choline in the brain. I suspect he will feel quite different taking Optimal Focus ;) In health, |
I notice the vitamin says to not take more than 5 hours prior to bedtime. Why? Does it increase huperactivity. We’ve noticed some behaviorial changes in our son since taking (2 tablets), so we have cut it to one tablet and will continue to monitor. With a child who has a slow comt, slow mao and 2out of the 5 genetic markers for a methyl sensitivity, is this the better option than the methylated vitamin. In trying to figure out what could be causing the behavioral changes. | B vitamins are known to support healthy neurotransmitter formation and healthy energy. These vitamins may contribute to behavioral changes for the better and also may aggravate if too much is taken. Here's my recommendation:
You picked the right one - the MF version is definitely the right call for your son. He just needs less of it and not as frequent. I also recommend you look into Optimal Focus - 1/2 to 1 capsule (we're making a kid's chewable version but in process). I also recommend 1/2 scoop of Optimal Electrolyte in the morning for him upon waking along with 1/4 lozenge of Glutathione Plus Lozenge. These two additional supplements will get him a great start to his day - and yours. Try the Optimal Electrolyte and 1/2 Glutathione Plus lozenge for yourself so you know how it feels. I do this combination every morning. I take Optimal Man, a multivitamin for men, about 3 days a week and only 2 capsules. That should give you an idea of how to support him with his multivitamin and other nutrients. In health, |
Is this gluten free and corn free? | It is tested and confirmed gluten-free. We traced back our ingredients for corn and do not see any sources of corn but it is not tested for corn as there is not any testing for 'corn allergens' done by companies if you can believe that. In health, |
