Hydroxo B12 Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated 17 hours ago

My last b12 test prior to starting any b12 was over 900. I was advised to take b12 and when I take Hydroxo B12 I become angry and blue if that makes sense. It takes hours for me to go back to being myself. I am homozygous for A1298C. Is there another gene I should be looking? Respectfully, Pamela | I don't know why you were advised to take more B12 if your B12 was over 900. One does not take supplements based on their SNPs. They take supplements based on need and symptoms. With a B12 of over 900, that tells me you may be sufficient in B12. You should also look at your MCV, MCH levels - and if they are fine, you're fine there. If they are high, then you do need B12 and possibly some folate. I need to know what problems you're wanting to support and mitigate. Just having a SNP doesn't provide me much information. In health, |
I try adding B's, C or E and by the end oof that day I am a walking old banana lol. Can this be a clotting or genetic flaw? I have MTHFR and love your hydroxy B12, give to my hubby too, but I have stopped almost all vits as they seem to increase bruising, chocolate does this too. I see they all have blood thinning properties and maybe I already have thinner blood, I am in my 70's and do well unless I try to "help" myself?????? Thank you for your reply if you understand this. Laura | I hear you. We don't want you turning into banana bread next :) I'd look into nutrients that support healthy venous tone. I suspect your veins are weak and friable. Consider:

Thanks for the reply, could it help clearing up side effects from Cyano and methyl b12? My b12 levels are currently around 350 what should be the appropriate levels to be symptoms free? Are there any substances in the lozenges that can trigger histamine or Mast cell? | I am not able to answer that question. It's impossible for me to give dosage recommendations and know what will cause one to be symptom free or not. Guidance from a health professional with ongoing consistent support is needed for this. Hello, I am contacting you regarding the "Hydroxo B12" product (hereinafter: "Product"). Hydroxocobalamin is mostly used in pharmaceutical forms of B12, and is not suitable for taking orally (unless in liposomal form). It is used in the form of injections or as nasal drops. So, the question arises, is the Product in liposomal form ? If not, what's the point in taking it, in your opinion ? Thank you for your honest answers! Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Warmest Regards, | Not sure where you heard that information from. We have helped thousands of people with our Hydroxo B12 supplement all over the planet. As a lozenge, and even as an oral supplement, we have had success using hydroxocobalamin. Methylcobalamin is also available as injections or topically or other various forms but is also very well absorbed by the mouth and stomach. In health, |
Can this type of B12 cause fatigue? I've been taking 1000 MG for a few weeks and at first I noticed a positive difference in mental clarity and energy, but for the past several days I have been experiencing a pretty intense energy dip shortly after taking it. Is this a sign of deficiency? Should I increase the amount I'm taking? Or maybe I should try a different type of B12? | You've exceeded the sweet spot. You felt good initially because you needed it. Now you're feeling the result of taking it too often and too much. Once you feel good after taking a supplement, that is a sign that you should actually stop taking it. It's best to take supplements during times of need and stop them when you no longer need them. Then, once the symptom returns, resume the supplement. For now, take a break from all forms of B12. Once the symptoms that you're familiar with return, then resume the Hydroxo B12 but only for a short time. Once you feel a lift in your healthy energy and mental clarity, you would stop using the supplement. Rinse. Repeat. :) Supplements are not designed to be taken daily. Use as needed. Then pause. Then use again when the need arises. It's like having a hammer in your garage. You use it when you need for the task requiring a hammer. Then you put it back and let it be there until it's needed again. In health, |
Hi Dr. Lynch, My 16 year old daughter recently needed a blood transfusion for low hemoglobin. Her red blood cells were abnormally large. Low red blood count. This was about a month ago. Once we got home from the hospital I started giving her the Methyl B12 lozenge for the large red blood cells while we waited to see a primary care doctor. He ran tests and her ferritin was 16, iron low at 19, MCV 93 IL, homocysteine 5.2, MMA not tested. Her hemoglobin has gone up to 9.4, thankfully. Her B12 was greater than 2000, so doc said the B12 deficiency has recovered, but we don't know that, correct? He didn't check folate levels. He suggested that she take iron glycinate (as Ferrochel). I ordered Optimal Iron. Currently giving her: Optimal Iron 1 capsule. 1/2 Glutathione Plus lozenge, 1 lozenge Hydroxo B12 and 1/2 a Folinic Acid lozenge. Optimal Electrolyte a few times a week, should she take this daily? I considered the B minus for riboflavin and other b's, however, she is already taking 500 mg Biotin in the Optimal Iron. Will riboflavin in food be sufficient? She also has tics and I switched to Hydroxo B12 from Methyl B12, thinking that the methylated B12 could possibly be amping her up. I don't know if it was?? Which B12 would you suggest? Little bit of background: I have the MTHFR C677T gene. Prior to all of this I was giving her the Kids Multi capsules and switched to the Multivitamin One when they were discontinued. She would eat meat but not very often. Mostly vegetarian. She is now eating more meat and more variety. Organic, clean diet. Very minimal processed foods. I hope this isn't too much information. Just want to know if I'm on the right track with supplements and any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, I read somewhere that tics can be caused from too much dopamine. How do we clear dopamine? We do have an appointment with a Pediatric Naturopath, but not until October. Her primary care doctor will keep an eye on her until then. Thank you Dr. Lynch for all that you do! Kristi | If she is struggling with tics, I'd stop the B12 and folate supplements for the moment. The B12 and folate are likely contributing to the tics. Give these a rest for about a month and then revisit her labs. The Optimal Electrolyte I'd consider giving each day for her upon waking up. The Glutathione Lozenge - consider 1/4 to 1 lozenge on an as needed basis. If she wakes up with a foggy tired head, she should take some. Otherwise, skip it. I'm glad she is eating more meat. That will help her a lot. Before bed, consider 1 capsule of Optimal Magnesium. Multivitamin One: I'd stop this for now as well. Then, after a week or two, give her 1 capsule twice a week with breakfast. She may do better with the Kids Multivitamin Chewable as it is less potent. Or you can use the Multivitamin Plus for her and give her 1-2 capsules every other day for breakfast. My gut tells me she needs to stop most the supplements for now and let her brain calm down. She's getting too many nutrients. I always thought it was impossible to get too many nutrients. Then I was proven wrong many times over. She's getting too much at the moment. I bet by stopping most of these supplements, her tics will improve in about 4 days or so. In health, |
Dosage I just purchased Hydroxy 12…I’m inquiring about a dosage… so I’m suppose to start with 1/2 lozenge… for how long until I take 1 full lozenge? And do I take it everyday? | It is suggested to start with 1/2 lozenge for the first week. After a week you can increase the dose to 1 full lozenge if you feel you need more support, such as more energy. You can take it every day, but make sure you monitor your B12 serum and MCV levels through your practitioner. Typically we suggest to take supplements as needed. This may be every day initially for a few weeks or months, and then every other day or third day. Dr. Ben Lynch refers to this Pulse Method in his book Dirty Genes. You take a supplement until you feel great. Then you stop or reduce the dose, or take it intermittently to maintain the benefits without taking too much. Hope this helps. Regards, |
I’m taking this product, as per your recommendation. I have high MCH + high MCV . I’m almost finished with the bottle. How long do you recommend I take it for? Thanks! | I've answered this question under 'Hydroxo B12 with Folinic Acid', but here it is again :). My suggestion would be to take Hydroxo B12 with Folinic Acid for 3-4 months and then get your MCV and MCH retested. Ideal MCV is as close to 90 as possible. If your MCV fails to change, then it may be that B12 is not getting into the cells. If this is the case Glutathione may help to transport B12 into the cells. Regards, |
Can you please tell me if it's advisable to take hydroxocobalamin, adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin supplements at the same time ? I was thinking about taking the following supplements of yours on a daily basis: Hydroxo B12 - 2-capsules a day Active B12 5000 (Soon Methyl B12 5000) - 1-capsule a day Adeno B12 - 1-capsule a day Or this is pointless to do and I should only take Hydroxo (with or without Adeno B12?) as it will easily be transformed into adenosylcobalamin & methylcobalamin ? Unfortunately, I have a problem with Sulphur intolerance, I can barely metabolize Sulphur into Sulphate - for which reason I take molybdenum on a daily basis. (it helps me a lot!) - for this reason, for me, I think that the Hydroxocobalamin would be the best as it would be of help to me so much. However, do you think adding your Calcium-D-Glucarate supplement to my daily routine would be of benefit in detoxifying my body from Sulphate as it is obviously full with it right now ? I am also thinking about adding your P-5-P (B6) vitamin to my daily routine with a dose of 2-capsules daily, what's your opinion about this ? Thank you. | You can do this if needed. It may not be but you certainly can as long as you feel good from doing so. I don't think it's the right approach, however. Here's what you may consider instead:
This is a comprehensive overall plan that should help you considerably. You are looking for healthy bowel movements that are well formed, easy to pass and occur a couple times a day. Adjust the Calcium D Glucarate frequency and Gallbladder Nutrients frequency as needed to achieve this. At first, you'll likely need the amounts as shown above every evening. Then, after a week or so, you may try reducing the frequency to say 3 nights a week and see how you're feeling. As you continue improving, you'll likely only need to take these 1 time a week for maintenance. In health, |
Would taking Hydroxo B12 by itself inhibit superoxide production? Would taking this with Optimal Glutathione Plus decrease Superoxide? | I do not think Hydroxo B12 by itself would inhibit superoxide production. Optimal Glutathione Plus would support healthy superoxide levels due to the PQQ and glutathione.* What Hydroxo B12 supports is:
PQQ supports the metabolism of superoxide into hydrogen peroxide - and then: Glutathione supports the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide which is part of the pathway of superoxide metabolism. Thus, Glutathione Plus is the ideal support for supporting healthy superoxide levels.* Consider one or the other - or take turns between them - but do not take both at the same time. Alternating days or weeks would be best:

Hello I am Mike, I have high blood histamines, I react badly to Methyl donors and my COMT is slightly decreased. I was adviced to use HydroxoB12 as it helps with methylation and good for those who react poorly to methyl donors yet I'm a carnivore and eat eggs and meat how much should I take? 2000mcg a day isn't too much? Thanks | Taking vitamins without a good reason isn't a good idea. 'Supporting methylation' isn't helpful. Let me know what, if any, symptoms you have. Then, I'll be able to give you a better recommendation. Simply supplementing with B12 isn't smart if there's not a specific need. If you struggle with high blood histamine, then I highly recommend our Histamine Bundle. It's very comprehensive and you get the Histamine Workbook which is a great guide. In health, |
