Hydroxo-Adeno B12 Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated 17 hours ago

Question Answer
I need B12 for my son. It's urgent. No methyl. No gluten No flavours (histamine intolerance) Can you help me please? Thanks in advance

Hi Emma -

Many have histamine intolerance and do well with our flavors. You will not find a unmethylated B12 without flavors.

Hello, I am compound heterozygous for both C677T and A198C as well as heterozygous for COMT V158M. I am also deficient in B12 and have been for years now. My issue is that any time I have tried supplementing B12 in the past (in the form of injections/sub-lingual/pill form (either methylcobalamin, or cyanocobalamin), I get severe acne. I’m talking about going from clear skin to having a minimum of 20+ painful pimples on my face daily to the point of having dermatologists suggest I take risky acne medications. Once I stop the B12, the acne clears up in days. Would hydroxocobalamin/adenosylcobalamin be any different? Is there a way to fight my deficiency while still maintaining clear skin?

I am not sure.

The bacteria on your skin use the B12 to produce porphyrins which increase acne.

Consider:

  • Hydroxo-Adeno B12: 1/2 lozenge in the morning upon waking
  • Skin Nutrients: 3 capsules with a protein based breakfast
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner

This combination supports healthy skin and healthy B12 levels.

This should be supportive for both vs just taking the B12.

Keep me posted how you're doing.

Thank you Dr. Lynch for the education about the Niacin flushed! Both my husband and I have the same suboptimal FUT2 gene so we need the subligual B12. My husband needs MF in addition to being subligual. This was the reason why he couldn't do the B Complex MF. But I just noticed that the B Complex MF has only 50 mcg of B12, is that all we need everyday? Currently he is taking 2000 mcg B12 daily, that's 40x of the 50mcg in the B complex!

It depends whether or not he has a need for it. Don't base supplementation needs on SNPs - base it on need.

Men typically don't need as much B12 however, as we age and our stomach acid levels drop, we do tend to have more difficulty absorbing it.

Hi Dr. Lynch, my husband had been taking this daily, together with Folinic Acid and B minus. Most of the time he is taking it with food but whenever he took them on an empty stomach he felt the tingling and get a rash on his face. The rash would go away in 30 min, all is good afterwards. My question is, given that it's a lozenge, why would taking with or without food make a difference? Is he over dosing but the effect was somehow masked by food? In case he was overdosing, how is one to manage the dose? The reason he is taking this because B12 is always showed low on tests, likely due to poor methylation genes.

That tingling he got was from the niacin found in B Minus. That's called a niacin flush and it's a normal healthy response to niacin.

If he takes the B Minus with food, he will most likely not experience that feeling.

If he likes the warm tingling sensation, he's welcome to take it away from food ;)

The lozenge won't have this effect - he can take it with or without food.

He may want to simplify his supplement protocol and just take B Complex MF.

This provides essentially what you're providing him - in one capsule vs three.

This should be much easier for him and take with food.

Hi, I am a homozygous with MTHFR C677T. I recently did my bloods and serum Homocystine levels were about 30 nMol/l, i.e. way too high. Cant handle methylated forms, get super anxious. Would your Folinic acid and Hydroxy-adeno B12 be good for getting down my Hcy below 10 nmol/L? How long would you supplement before retesting? Cheers, Fredrik

Are you referring to homocystine (what you wrote) or homocysteine levels? I'm going to assume it's homocysteine levels since this is more commonly tested for.

  • Homocystine is a sulfur compound derived from the oxidation of homocysteine.
  • Homocysteine is a by-product of methylation that has to be processed by the CBS gene/enzymes.

If it's homocysteine as I suspect, then yes, your homocysteine levels are high.

If you can't handle methylated forms of B12 and folate, then I would suggest:

  • Hydroxy B12 with Folinic Acid: Take 1 lozenge per day.
  • P-5-P (Pyridoxal 5-Phosphate): Take 1 capsule per day.

Retest your homocysteine levels through your healthcare provider after about 2 - 3 months to see where your levels are headed.

If they are decreasing then continue until homocysteine is at optimal levels (my opinion is 7-9 nMol/L). If they're not, then you may need to dig a bit deeper into why this is not the case. In this case, work with a healthcare practitioner that can guide you through this.

Hello Dr Ben. I have the NOS 3 snp, so I don't produce enough nitric oxide. Would taking hydroxyl B12 lower my nitric oxide even more? Also I'm homozygous for MTHFR a1298c. I've been taking methyl B12 but I'm wondering if the hydroxyl B12 would help more with detoxification? Thank you.

I am not sure if Hydroxo B12 would lower already low nitric oxide.

Keep in mind that a NOS3 SNP doesn't mean you are low in nitric oxide. It means that you are vulnerable to low nitric oxide levels and it's not as efficient for you in making it.

B12's don't really do much in terms of detoxification - very minor via methylation.

The most significant detoxification is via the glucoronidation and sulfur pathways.

To support healthy nitric oxide levels:

  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1/2 to 1 lozenge upon waking in the morning as glutathione is essential for healthy blood flow and nitric oxide levels.*
  • check your blood pressure. If it's a healthy level, then your nitric oxide levels are good. If it's high, then your nitriç oxide levels need support.
  • Pre-Workout Nutrients: take 1/2 to 1 serving a day to support healthy nitric oxide levels. Drink in the morning or drink before a workout or exercise.
  • Optimal Electrolyte: hydration is key for healthy blood flow. Drink 1 to 3 servings a day to support healthy hydration.*
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner to support healthy levels of inflammation.*

Hi, Dr. Lynch. My son and I are methyl sensitive, and both are on low side of B12. Doctor advised additional B12 sublingual. We have both done great with the MF B Complex . However, the Hydroxo-Adeno B12 lozenge makes us both REALLY tired. I've taken it in the morning, hours away from other supplements or afternoon and still has the same effect for both of us. I have to take a nap within an hour of taking it! We've even taken a half or a quarter of the lozenge and same effect. I know it says not to take within 5 hours of bedtime due to increase in energy, but seems we may do better taking it before bed instead? Thanks so much in advance for your response. Also, I love the Glutathione Plus Lozenge, by the way! Unfortunately, my leaky gut sensitive son can't handle monk fruit. Thanks for adding a Seeking Health distribution center in TN! My orders arrive so fast!

I'm supporting Dr. Lynch in answering the influx of questions we are getting.

Happy to hear that you are receiving your orders in a timely manner :).

The B Complex MF already contains adenosylcobalamin and hydroxycobalamin in small amounts.

The fact that you can tolerate the Glutathione Plus Lozenge indicates to me that your reaction has more to do with the amount of vitamin B12 than the fillers.

It may be that you are oxidizing vitamin B12.

Or maybe you need additional folate with the B12. Consider switching to Hydroxo B12 with Folinic Acid.

Hi Ben, I was just wondering what B12 is right for me or if I should take it at all. I am low in b12 and have higher than normal MCV. I am extremely fatigued, anxious and feel like I am short of breath constantly. I've also worked out over the years that B6 works very well for me, however B3 definitely does not! I recently tried methylated B vitamins and felt good initially for 3-4 days then felt absolutely terrible. Fatigue was worse, anxiety, body pain, dizziness etc. I'm 31 and am still in good shape however have to try so hard to get up each day and go to work, be a dad, and keep fit. Thank you for all your content by the way, it is helping a lot.

I suspect what you need to do is use supplements with periods of time off.

I recommend Optimal Man. Take 2 capsules with a protein based breakfast.

Take these only on mornings where you feel you need additional support for healthy energy, healthy mood.*

For being out of breath, talk with your doctor to measure your fasting homocysteine levels.

Out of breath can also be high histamine. Consider using 2 capsules of Histamine Nutrients before bed to support healthy histamine levels - or use anytime of day or night you are experiencing being out of breath.*

If it helps, then being out of breath is caused by the high histamine and Histamine Nutrients supports the healthy histamine levels.*

I'd add in the ProBiota HistaminX - 1 capsule after dinner. This supports healthy histamine levels in the gut.*

Before dinner, I'd add in 2 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients to support healthy bile production and bile flow. This is important for a healthy microbiome, energy, sleep and bowel movements.*

If needing specifically B12 and folate to support your high MCV, then I'd use the Hydroxo B12 with Folinic Acid Lozenges. Use 1/2 lozenge upon waking up in the morning to support healthy B12 and folate levels.*

Do this on the days you are not using Optimal Man. I'd switch days. One day do Optimal Man and then next day just do the Hydroxo B12 with Folinic Acid Lozenge.

Let's start here.

Keep me posted.

Hi, My mother just find out via testing she got b12 deficiency, MCV high. What's your opinion, MCV high is it b12 deficiency? And should she try this? They wanna give her cobalamin but I said no I will fix the real deal. Thanks for your amazing work!

I'd consider Hydroxo B12 with Folinic Acid Lozenges.
https://www.seekinghealth.com/products/hydroxo-b12-with-folinic-acid

Reason being is that high MCV may be due to either low B12 OR low folate.

This lozenge supports both.

Have her start out with 1/2 a lozenge in the morning with breakfast.

If she feels tired in the early afternoon around lunch, she can take the other half a lozenge then to support healthy energy levels and healthy mood.*

It's best to take less twice a day than more once a day.

Hi! After reading all the FAQ's and articles, I am still unsure which B12 to purchase! I currently buy a hydroxo B12 from another brand (since I try to stay away from fruit flavours) but now I am wondering if I should get the Hydroxo-Adeno combo instead of just Hydroxo. I have slow COMT and lower MTRR activity. Thank you for any insight!!

Go by the symptoms you are having not the SNPs.

I do need to do a better job on defining this and making videos.

I have this information in past videos in the Membership but they are buried.

Essentially, you are picking a quality B12 that's less stimulating than Methylcobalamin.

If you find that you are easily over stimulated, stressed out, then using Hydroxo-Adeno B12 is a great one.

If you feel that you are low mood, low drive, low energy and you want to support healthy levels of all of those, then consider Methyl B12 lozenges.

If you are just low energy and you want to support healthy energy, then go with Adeno B12 lozenges.

Hi! Is it 50% of each form of B12? Thanks!

Approximately yes.

I would like to know if this supplement lowers histamine in any amount? Both my daughters as well as myself are sensitive to environmental chemicals/mold. I was told by a provider (after I had methylcobolomin shots administered) that maybe my body doesn't tolerate the methyl part of the b12 and to try this kind or just plain hydroxycobolomin. Would this help better. My daughter smelled burning plastic outside today and had to shut the slider door to our home because her chest started to hurt her. So wondering what supplement would help her dexot the most. She also has had sensativities to novacaine administration. Alot of types of smells bother her to a point of the chest tightness. Her vitamins are on the low levels. And so wondering if a Histamin X is best perhaps since she may have sensativities or is this something a hydroxycobolomin may do best since we've been exposed to mold, new construction and tight homes. We also have lived and live near a plastic factory. They also burn wood when they build new homes in our area so sometimes we smell that as well. We've smelled rotten eggs at times from our pipes. In addition, we recently found out we had a freon leak in our AC in the home and had to replace the coil. I just feel we are affected alot from some sort chemical/mold sensativity or reaction. She gets hives sometimes but not all the time. She looses hearing at certain times. Sometimes she feels dizzy and feels faint. Looking to see what would help her the most instead of taking many supplements. I almost feel that cyanide is what maybe causing the most of the issues perhaps in food, air (smoke, burning plastic) and water maybe. Please let me know if you agree or any other feedback is appreciated.

I'd consider liver support first.

Consider, upon waking, 1/2 to 1 lozenge of Glutathione Plus lozenges. This supports healthy levels of glutathione and she needs it based on her responses to smells and mold.*

Mid-day or any time she gets exposed to a smell that bothers her, she should take 1 lozenge of Glutathione Plus Lozenge - as soon as possible. She should take it with her wherever she goes.

She may need multiple lozenges a day especially if the environmental exposures persist.

Then, after dinner, take 1 capsule of Liver Nutrients and 1 capsule of Calcium D Glucarate. Both of these support healthy detoxification.*

Often times, exposures lead to high histamine which then interrupts and delays sleep onset.

Before bed, consider taking 1 capsule of Histamine Nutrients especially if needing to support healthy onset of sleep.*

If she struggles with high histamine symptoms at any time, she can take Histamine Nutrients then to support healthy histamine levels.*

Consider getting a sauna - seriously a lifetime investment. Here's how to sauna:

Rotten eggs from pipes can be hydrogen sulfide or natural gas leaks. Be careful here. Get this checked out by an expert who can come in with equipment and test your air quality.

Hi! I recently bought your Hydrox-adeno B12. Soo happy that I finally found the combination of B12 that should suit my genes and not give me side effects. Thank's for providing this! I saw you specify recommended amount of this B12 per day and to not take it 5 hours before bedtime but I can't find any information about if it's better to take it with or without food? Or if I can combine it with some specific food to enhance absorbtion? I am super high in Folic acid according to blood tests, so will start to try if this B12 can help me break down the folic acid before adding that. Thanks in advance! Warmly Emelie in Sweden

It's a lozenge so you don't need to take it with or without food. I do think it will work better without food though once you swallow the dissolved contents. This is because your stomach acid will be stronger without food.

If super high in folic acid, I'd also consider Glutathione Plus Lozenges. Take 1/2 to 1 lozenge upon waking in the morning.

High folic acid levels can be due to low B12, as you are aware. It may also be due to low glutathione.
