Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme caused me to have heartburn. Why?

Heartburn may be experienced if histamine levels are not balanced. Too low, or too high histamine may contribute to heartburn.

Make sure you're taking Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme with foods or drinks that contain sufficient histamine. If you're taking it with food or drinks that do not have enough histamine, you may lower your stomach acid to the point of experiencing heartburn.

Consider a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in an ounce of water if heartburn occurs after taking Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme. If you feel better, this is an indicator that low histamine may have contributed to your symptoms.

Do not take Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme without food or drink, OR with low histamine foods or drinks, unless:

- you know that your microbiome is producing histamine

-you have inflammatory processes found in the digestive tract, specifically small or large intestines, which may contribute to high histamine levels.

How long should I take Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme before my histamines activity returns?

Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme contains DAO, which is designed to act on histamine contained in foods while they are still in the digestive tract. The DAO does not have systemic activity and will only be active in the digestive tract for a short time after consumption. It will only stay in the system until it is excreted, the same as food waste. Histamine Digest soon DAO Enzyme is not intended to increase the body's production of DAO.†

Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme does not contain grains. However, this formula contains ascorbyl palmitate ("Other Ingredient") which is derived in part from highly purified corn oil. Due to the processes used to manufacture the finished ingredients, the ascorbyl palmitate is free from corn proteins.

Is Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme suitable for people who are sensitive to amines?

The active ingredient in Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme , diamine oxidase (DAO), is an enzyme naturally present in the intestines that helps break down histamine and certain other amines. Histamine Digest™ soon DAO Enzyme may help support tolerance of some amines other than just histamine, such as putrescine and cadaverine.†

How do antihistamines work?

Antihistamines work by inhibiting the binding of histamine to various receptors.

In order for histamine to cause a histamine response, histamine must bind to a receptor.

When antihistamines are not used, the histamine is then free to bind to a receptor - causing a histamine response.

Thus, long-term use of an antihistamine is needed if one does not have sufficient ability to break down and eliminate histamine.

Antihistamines do nothing for the breakdown.

If one wants to support the healthy breakdown of histamine in the body, using supplements such as Histamine Nutrients and Histamine Digest  soon DAO Enzyme can help.*
