Glutathione Plus Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated 3 hours ago

Question
Answer
Hi Dr. Lynch, I first want you to know how much I appreciate the work you do to help so many of us to get well. Your book and your products have been a blessing to my husband and I. I have been taking liposomal glutathione (yours). My functional medicine practitioner told me I needed to take it many times throughout the day. I tried that and I feel it messed me up. Recently I stopped taking it and instead started taking your NAC. I learned in order for me to do my mycotoxin test I must take glutathione for 16 days in a row. I also take Bile Nutrients and Gut Nutrients that have been wonderful. I have added in Calcium d-glucarate and that has helped with detoxing and gut upset. I have black mold in my lungs, have Lyme Disease, EBV, MCAS and many other issues. I work hard to have a normal life. I exercise daily, watch my diet most of the time and am careful of my environment in order to prevent reactions. Because of mold illness I'm not to have anything that is fermented. I'd like to take your glutathione capsule, but am not sure it is safe for me. The lozenge I'm not sure is safe and when I've tried it my tongue burned a bit. Thank you, Dr. Lynch for taking the time to listen. Have a blessed day. God Bless, Linda

Hi Linda -

Thank you for your note :) and you're welcome.

Glutathione is an interesting nutrient. It can really aggravate some and I'm trying to figure out why.

I would hold off on using any glutathione at the moment.

Instead, consider:

  • Gut Nutrients: 3 capsules upon waking and 3 capsules before bed
  • Brain Nutrients: 1/4 lozenge upon waking and possibly another 1/4 midday. This has some glutathione in it along with ATP and royal jelly. It has a natural burn to it as the royal jelly and ATP do this.
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule upon waking
  • Multivitamin One Sensitive: 1 to 2 capsules after a protein based breakfast
  • Bile Nutrients: 2 to 4 capsules before dinner
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Calcium D Glucarate: 1 capsule after dinner
  • NAC: experiment with this - start with 1 capsule after breakfast and see how you do. Increase upwards of 2 capsules three times daily.

Try the 16:8 fasting cycle a few times a week or daily if you feel strong enough. Essentially stop eating at 7 PM and have your first meal at Noon. If you feel too weak from this, then do the 12:12 and stop eating at 7 PM and resume at 7 AM.

Consider a Nicotine Patch 7 mg you can get at any pharmacy. I have been experimenting with it and it has been pretty remarkable. I do not find it addictive at all - it's a very low amount and I do it maybe a couple times a week or even less. For you, I'd consider daily for a week or two then take a week break and then try again.

I received the glutathione in a shipment in very hot weather, 100 degrees Celsius. Is the glutathione capsules destroyed in a shipment that was in the sun and in the heat of a car over 100 degrees Celsius?

Hi Anat -

100 Celcius is insanely hot - nothing would survive this.

100 F is also hot but manageable and the glutathione would be fine.

Can I take glutathione and q10 microactive together? Is there any benefit in taking them together???

Hi Anat -

Yes you may.

Taking them together is just ease of use - no more than that.

They do both support healthy mitochondrial function.*

Hello my Quinolinate acid levels came back 11.2 mg which is high and my Kynurenate levels came back 3.2 mg within normal range. I dont know much about Quinolinate acid but when I google it then it says some scary stuff like neuro disorders. I want to lower the Quinolinate. Would Glutathione help with lowering the levels or do you have a different supplement that would help?

Hi Danielle -

That's a good finding.

We need to figure out why it's elevated.

Elevated quinolinate is typically associated with:

  • infections
  • high homocysteine
  • mental and physical stress
  • environmental chemical exposures
  • head injury

Consider:

  • measure your fasting homocysteine levels - you want it around 7 umol/L
  • look for infections - viral, bacterial - oral, ears, blood - everywhere
  • Glutathione Plus: 1/2 a lozenge upon waking and another 1/2 lozenge later in the day
  • Lithium Orotate: 1 capsule taken after breakfast to support a healthy brain and healthy mood.*
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • PQQ Lozenge: 1 lozenge in the morning and you can swallow the lozenge after biting a few times. Some people state that it can color their teeth blue for a period of time. I notice this happen when plaque build up is significant. PQQ is a microbial fermentation and can react with the oral microbiome.
  • ProBiota Bifido: 1 capsule upon waking to support a healthy microbiome as this is where a lot of potential inflammation may stem from.*
  • sauna - do a few times a week - here's a great guide - https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0010/0250/4310/files/Sauna-ebook-REV060925.pdf?v=1749503120

Thank you so much for the reply to our inquiry below on our 17-year-old daughter with eczema, constipation, allergies, microscopic blood in urine, high histamine, ADHD, anxiety/depression, joint pain (rheumatology workup normal), high lpa (other lipid panel is normal), prior PANS, elevated immunoglobins, barely elevated bilirubin, and slight elevated mold mycotoxins in urine, We have a couple of follow-up questions. 1. She struggles with taking pills. Since her constipation is controlled with 500 mg magnesium citrate daily, can we forgo the recommended gut and bile nutrients, 8 capsules at night, or is there an alternative that would require fewer pills? 2. You mentioned iron is pro-inflammatory. Our daughter had mild anemia last year and has irregular periods, so we are wondering if a 15 mg dose daily instead of 28 would be safe to ensure she doesn't get anemia again, or is iron pro-inflammatory at any dose? 3. What other supplements are inflammatory besides iron to ensure we avoid them? She also takes 2.5 mg of melatonin some nights to help her sleep, not sure if that's ok, but it helps her. She also takes acetyl-l-carnitine 500 mg a couple of times per week since she doesn't eat much meat to keep her plasma levels in range. 4. Do you think activated charcoal would be safe (600 mg, 2 xs/day) to help her detox from the mold mycotoxins? 5. From the recommended supplements suggested in the prior response, which would be the top recommendations given financial constraints? We appreciate your responses very much. Thank you for all that you do!

Hi George -

I highly recommend the Gut Nutrients and Bile Nutrients. These help support an underlying healthy gut while the magnesium just is palliative.*

Please read the Leaky Gut Guide:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0010/0250/4310/files/Leaky_Gut_Guide_2.pdf?v=1753916449

She can use the Gut Nutrients Powder instead - it tastes pretty decent. I recommend mixing 1/2 scoop into a few ounces of filtered water and sipping slowly on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and again between meals - say between lunch and dinner.

She can forego the Bile Nutrients at this time and see if she can do without.

I'd have her eat more red meat to support the iron levels vs supplementing with it.

She can continue with the melatonin and the magnesium.

Activated charcoal is safe if given away from food and away from other supplements.

In terms of importance, I'd read about each of the supplements I suggested for consideration and see which one(s) really resonate with her deepest concerns.

First thought, I'd say the most important are the probiotics, glutathione and Gut Nutrients Powder.

Hi, Dr. Lynch. Our 17-year-old daughter has persistent eczema (needs hydrocortisone 1% daily), constipation, allergies, anxiety/depression, ADHD, prior PANS in 2017, insomnia, trouble with transitions and tasks, and microscopic blood in her urine of unknown cause since 7 years ago (no protein in urine, blood pressure normal). She recently had elevated immunoglobulins in her labs, but the rheumatologist said it is not clinically meaningful without other abnormal markers for an auto immune condition. Bilirubin recently tested a little bit outside the range for the 1st time (1.4). She tested positive for OAT mold mycotoxins in her urine. We read that she should detox with a binder and glutathione. We plan to give her activated charcoal, 600 mg 2xs per day, as the binder. Which of your glutathione products do you recommend to be given to her as part of her mold detox regimen (dosage, how many times per day, how far apart from binder, and for how long)? We read the recommended is 500 mg 2xs/day, but we are concerned that it would be too much. Any other supplement recommendations? She currently takes: D3 5000 IUs, MF multivitamin, Omega 3, Iron 28 mg, and CoQ10 100 mg daily. She also takes 100 mg of glutathione every other day. She has 1 copy of MTFHR (C677t), elevated homocysteine (11.1), high lipoprotein A (198), slow MAO. Her other labs are normal (B12, folic acid, D3, ferritin/iron, etc. We appreciate your advice!

Hi George -

Thanks for the detail.

I'd first look at food sensitivities and stool testing.

This is a very good food sensitivity test you can order with her doctor:
https://www.usbiotek.com/tests/96-general-food-panel

I'd also look at a stool test - like this:
https://www.usbiotek.com/gi-microbiome-testing

Given the depth of the duration of symptoms, I highly recommend consulting with ElizmaLambert.com

Some specifics to consider:

  • pause the iron since it is normal. Iron can be pro-inflammatory and we don't need more inflammation.
  • pause the MF multivitamin.
  • CoQ10 is good but it's not a key driver at the moment - I'd consider pausing it unless she really feels a difference from it.
  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1/2 upon waking to start. Work up as she tolerates - to 2 lozenges a day - in 1/2 lozenge amounts at a time.
  • Bile Nutrients: 4 capsules before dinner
  • Saccharomyces Boulardii: 1 capsules upon waking
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule upon waking
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • D3+K2: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Histamine Nutrients: 2 capsules before bed
  • Gut Nutrients: 4 capsules before bed
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 2 servings a day - in morning and afternoon

This is a lot initially but she needs a lot.

I'd go 100% gluten-free and 100% cow dairy free as well.

Keep me posted. Let's get her feeling great as she deserves!

In health,
Dr. Lynch

PS: Stop the 100 mg of Glutathione every other day. That can be too much and increase anxiety. And do not introduce the Glutathione Lozenge for a week to balance her glutathione.
Hi Dr Lynch, Which form of Glutathione is most effective and worth the money? Hard to know with all the different products out there. I noticed that this one is in the s-acetyl form. My wife was recommended by her doctor to take glutathione to support her migraines and estrogen detox and we were thinking of starting her with Glutathione Plus. Thank you!

Hi Paul -

I hear you. There's a lot of stuff out there.

The s-acetyl glutathione is the best form - it's the most stable, least oxidized and has clinical research behind it.

For estrogen detox, I'd consider:

  • DIM+I3C: 1 capsule after dinner and this has a touch of s-acetyl glutathione in it already
  • Calcium D Glucarate: 1 capsule after dinner

I'd be careful with the glutathione - it is needed - but a little to start with.

Too much glutathione can increase headaches actually so it's best to start low.

The above recommendations do support healthy estrogen metabolism.*

Then, after a week or so of these, she can add in Glutathione Plus Lozenge and take 1/2 a lozenge upon waking in the morning.* She will likely feel a lighter head as it supports healthy brain function.* You would benefit from this as well. My family is a big user of these lozenges.

Be sure to monitor her estrogen levels. These supplements work well to support healthy estrogen levels so just in one to two months she should retest. She should feel results within a day or two.

In addition, consider:

  • Optimal Magnesium: 1 capsule before bed or after dinner

If the migraines are estrogen related, and may be only that, then these recommendations may do the trick as they support healthy estrogen levels.* The magnesium also supports healthy estrogen detox via the COMT enzyme which breaks down estrogen - and it needs magnesium to do so.*

If she still has migraines despite having healthy estrogen levels, then they may be food and/or histamine related.

Then she would need to support healthy histamine levels in addition. High estrogen promotes high histamine so by her supporting the estrogen, the histamine may balance on its own.

Dr. Lynch

Hey Doc. My wife and I were strong armed into getting the covid vax and it is our biggest regret!! How do we detox from it and get the spike protein out. Is there any way?? Will glutathione help? Thank you for all that you do!

Hi James -

I hear you man.

One thing I can say is look forward and take action on what you can. Regret is powerfully negative on your biochemistry and we don't want regret to further negatively affect your immune system.

A few things for you can do to support a healthy immune system, blood flow and health overall:

  • nattokinase 10,000 FU daily away from food. I like Life Extension. We don't offer this yet so need to refer you out.
  • Curcumin: 500 mg a day. We used to offer this and now we don't. Take this with food. Use Life Extension as well.
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • sauna - here's what I suggest how to do it: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0010/0250/4310/files/Sauna-ebook-REV060925.pdf?v=1749503120
  • Vitamin D3+K2: 1 capsule a day and get your vitamin D levels up to about 75. Take with food.
  • Optimal Man: 2 capsules after a protein based breakfast for you
  • Multivitamin One MF: 1 capsule every other day after breakfast for your wife
  • Optimal Focus: 1 capsule after your breakfast for you and your wife. The virus binds to acetylcholine receptors leading to symptoms - read this guide - https://www.seekinghealth.com/cdn/shop/files/How_To_Use_-_Optimal_Focus_1.pdf?v=9656194784056734519 - some people prefer the Kids Optimal Focus chewables over the capsules. They are 2 chewables to 1 capsule in terms of potency so if you find the capsules too strong for either of you, the Kids is a great alternative.
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking in the morning or anytime during the day

This should help you both immensely.

Best,
Dr. Lynch

Hello Dr. Lynch, I have a 9 year old boy who was diagnosed with severe ADHD 2 years ago. His has been on multiple adhd medications. He seems to be ok when he is on them, but they only last a short time and then when they wear off he is very angry, destructive, makes negative self remarks, defiant. I took him in to have labs done just to make sure it wasn’t something else. His b12 and folate came back off the charts high b12 over 2,000 and folate over 20. He went to hematology/oncology and they did a lot of tests which came back negative. I had my other children if for their wellness and my 4 year old daughter had the same lab results. I asked if it could be genetic, so the doctor order MTHFR gene test and he was positive for two variants. She referred him to genetics and they said they don’t deal with that. No doctor in the state of ND even knows what it is. He was referred to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, but they called me and said 30% of the population has this gene and research show people aren’t affected by it so they do not accept patients with it. He then was referred to a genetic counselor. She called me and was upset, she asked me who ordered the genetic test, she said as of 2013 this test was recommended to not test for and Mayo and other facilities do not even have the capability of testing for it. She found that it was sent to an outside lab. She told me 60% of the population has it and there has been no evidence of any health concerns if you have it. Of course I thought it seemed a little strange that she told me that, so I started doing some research. I found a nutritionalist that has a group for parents with kids that have adhd. She did a heavy metal test on him and that came back normal. She had me order Liposomal B supreme supplement for him to take. I gave him this, he is on a gluten free diet. I felt as though this actually made him worse. I have looked up naturalistic providers, but they want thousands of dollars up front and months of lab testing. I was at a complete loss not knowing what to do next, then I heard you on a podcast. You explained things so well, but I’m not sure how to apply it all to my son. Like does he need to avoid b12, will he need to be gluten free, dairy free, dye free, preservative free, I have definitely tried but he is a kid and I don’t know if I should let him have a cupcake at a birthday party or a candy here or there. Do I give him methylated folate every day, if so how much. I just want to get him off of the medication and let him find himself, I want him to know what it’s like to not have crazy anger outbursts or dofifty things and not complete one task because he can’t focus and then gets frustrated.I also fear as he gets older that he might be bipolar or schizophrenic or severely depressed that he ends his own life. I want him to be happy and healthy, not a drugged robot with no emotions that is hyper focused on one thing. I want to save my son! I’m not sure if you will actually get this message, but I am praying that you do. Thank you for your time

Hi Jessica -

I hear you.

The medical establishment does not know what they are doing when it comes to MTHFR variants.

Just because a lot of the population has the variation does not mean it's not a problem - what a stupid reason.

Please reach out to ElizmaLambert.com - she's awesome and she doesn't charge a mint like these others.

The B complex is something that I would not have recommended to him as I would think that would make him way worse - and it apparently did.

Foods are huge - so yes - he will need to go gluten-free and cow dairy free for at least 2 weeks to see how his moods change.

Candy here and there is ok as long as he's getting protein based meals and his blood sugars don't spike off the charts and crash.

The hardest part about the food changes is getting used to it - the shopping, the recipes, the understanding how to communicate to people not to give your kid those foods, etc

Food issues themselves could be the cause of his ADHD.

Let's get you a baseline foundation for him - and you - to get started - and then call Elizma:

  • Glutathione Plus Lozenge: 1/2 a lozenge for him upon waking
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1/2 a scoop upon waking and another 1/2 scoop later in the day
  • you can do the same
  • protein with each meal: meat, eggs, collagen smoothies with frozen organic berries and goat milk

Hi! I am looking at Glutathione Plus; I take a topical compounded form of glutathione (prescription) that is pricey and my doctor said that in order to bring down my monthly cost, I could find another glutathione product to take every other day (to alternate). He recommended 500mg (I am compound hetero for MTHFR and slow COMT; we are working to address hormone imbalance [estrogen dominance] and some adrenal/thyroid issues [high TSH, low cortisol being the main ones]; he is encouraging me to take it to help with detoxing among other things). This capsule only has 100mg, but it seems it is a different form. How can I compare this to others on the market (like Life Extension)? How does this form perform compared to other forms? Would you say it is comparable? (I ask because it says "triple glutathione protection" in the product description). For reference, I am also taking Hydroxo B12, Folinic Acid, Cod Liver Oil, DIM + IC3, Calcium D-Glucarate, Adren-All (by Ortho Molecular), and NP Thyroid, along with compounded progesterone after ovulation. Any thoughts you have would be very appreciated!

Hi Erin -

Glutathione is powerful when it's delivered properly into your body.

You're moving from a topical glutathione which may or not be very effective. I'm on the fence about it.

Taking too much glutathione is associated with side effects and I don't want you to experience those.

I recommend actually starting with our Glutathione Plus Lozenge and starting with 1/2 a lozenge.

I love the lozenge the most because you can control the amount you need vs swallowing a capsule and hoping that amount works for you.

The s-acetyl glutathione form of glutathione is vastly superior to reduced glutathione. It's not even a comparison.

Consider:

  • Glutathione Plus: 1/2 to 1 lozenge upon waking and then another 1/2 to 1 lozenge later in the day as needed. You'll feel what you need. Bite the lozenge once or twice, let it dissolve slowly, then swallow. If you feel absolutely nothing within 5 minutes, take another 1/2.

You'll feel it :)

The lozenge is even lower amount of glutathione but it hits you much faster than a topical, liposomal or capsule as it's a lozenge.

Doctors aren't current with the best forms of glutathione nor are they current with the common side effects of glutathione: headache, irritability, difficulty sleeping, nausea.

It's better to take smaller amounts of glutathione more frequently than it is to take higher amounts. Way less likely to get side effects and glutathione only survives in the body for about 12 minutes.

The lozenge also has nutrients in it to help recycle the used up glutathione back into active glutathione thereby helping it perform for a longer duration.

Dr. Lynch

I am trying to get my methylation cycle working again but started reacting badly to methylated vitamins, so I took a pause on those last week (anxiety and right side feeling congested). I had very low antioxidant levels on my Nutraeval, so I tried increasing my choline with more meat, nuts, and seeds, and I have tried slowly adding glutathione and creatine and electrolytes. It's been two weeks, and while initially I started feeling better, now my gut is NOT happy and I'm having fat malabsorption issues, low mood and anxiety. I've been reading about the CBS +/- gene as well, which I also have two of (including +/- PEMT), and I'm just needing help. I know I need to pulse, but what and how? How do I get glutathione levels up if I am struggling with sulfur? Thank you.

Hi Sarah -

Starting to get a methylation cycle going when there is dirt there is a tricky thing to do.

I highly recommend reading Dirty Genes and working on removing things which dirty your pathways vs adding in other things. This is often overlooked. Removal of bad habits, toxic chemicals or harmful foods can be a game changer.

That said, I have some supplement recommendations for you to consider in addition as reading does take time.

  • Glutathione Plus lozenge: 1/4 to 1/2 a lozenge upon waking
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 serving upon waking and another midday. Consider the Unflavored one until your gut is happier.
  • CoQ10: 1 capsule after breakfast
  • Bile Nutrients: 2 to 4 capsules before dinner.
  • Digestive Enzymes: 2 capsules with each meal to support healthy digestion.*
  • Liver Nutrients: 1 capsule after dinner
  • stop using methylated vitamins and multivitamins for now
  • do focus on eating more meat but do not eat nuts and seeds as these are very hard on the liver
  • focus on really chewing your food well before swallowing
  • do not drink much during meals - you can have some but limit it - do not drink cold as that stops digestion

Start here. This is a solid baseline. You should experience improvements within a day or two.

Keep me posted.

Hello, saw your Instagram post about supplementing with glutathione due to the chemical fire. We live about 1 hour north of there unfortunately. My question is that I have a sulfa allergy and have read I shouldn't supplement with glutathione or nac. Is this true? If so anything else I can take? I have supplemented with a Lipsomal glutathione prior to finding this out but had experienced a lot of anxiety and I am not sure if it's that or the methyl B12 and folate I have been taking. Thank you so much!

Hi Melissa -

Sulfa allergy is different than a reaction to sulfur compounds like glutathione.

I do recommend using the Glutathione Plus Lozenge more than the NAC.

Anxiety may be caused by too much glutathione and too much B12 and folate.

If exposed to chlorine, then taking glutathione will unlikely contribute to anxiety because your levels are likely low.

Consider being mindful with taking the Glutathione Plus Lozenges. Start with 1/2 a lozenge upon waking and as soon as you get it in the mail. You may also need it a few times during the day as the exposure persists.

I'd definitely add in the Optimal Electrolyte as well.

If you're concerned about the glutathione, then use the Liver Nutrients and take 1 capsule three times a day.

Would this be fine in pregnancy at any stage I'm currently in 1st trimester & also for my 12 year old with autism ?

Hi Chrissy -

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Typically I don't suggest detoxification nutrients such as Glutathione Plus during any stage of pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a time when you want to nourish your body and let it do its thing. Your body will still make glutathione as needed, but you don't want to be pushing it.

Post-pregnancy and -breastfeeding, feel free to start Glutathione Plus up again.

For your 12-year-old autistic child, it should be fine. But I don't know enough about his health history to make a definitive call. Detoxification can be a complex process in some cases and for an autistic child I would recommend that you work with a healthcare practitioner who can guide you through this.

Elizma Lambert (ElizmaLambert.com)

Hi Dr. Lynch, That is absolutely amazing and thankyou so much for getting back to me. I didn't expect such a lengthy reply/strategy and I am very grateful for that. I should have clarified in my question that I was asking for my sister for the immune support and I want to purchase seeking health supplements for her and get her on the dirty genes protocol. She has been instructed by her doctor in the UK to seek out ways to improve her immune system as she has a virus in her body called HPV- Human papillomavirus . Her doctor has said that her immune system is weak and she needs to improve it in order to fight off this virus and stress makes worse. The fear is that this could eventually turn into some form of cancer in her body. Any advice on what your supplements/protocol she should take/follow in order to improve her immune system and detox. I could follow the one you've given me as I believe it would just be the optimal man supplement I would need to swap to another for her. Thankyou so much Zac Bettesworth

Hi Zac -

You're a good man.

I hear you.

We all essentially have HPV. It's more of a question how well does our immune system keep it in check.

Sauna is a fantastic way as is stress reduction and nutrition - and not overtraining!!

Instead of the Optimal Man for her, I recommend the Multivitamin Plus. She can take 2-3 capsules with breakfast, 1-3 with lunch and if needed, 1-2 with a late afternoon snack.

I find that most people do well with 2-3 capsules with breakfast and at times may need 1-3 more with lunch (depending on what they are doing that day and the day prior) and rarely need the afternoon snack amount.

I'm not sure if I provided you some healthy stress support or not:

  • Stress Nutrients: 1-3 capsules with breakfast
  • Lithium Orotate: 1 capsule any time of day or night when stress is heightened as this supports a healthy stress response.*
  • Phosphatidyl serine: 1 capsule morning and night if her cortisol levels are high as this supports healthy cortisol levels.*

Take those - and the others - as needed. Rarely do I recommend taking supplements daily - with the exception of Glutathione Plus Lozenge or Optimal Electrolyte. Those are daily in my book.

Dr. Lynch

I'm told that glutathione is destroyed by stomach acid. I've taken liposomal under the tongue, but yours is a pill. How do you work-around the stomach acid issue?

Hi MJ -

Great point.

We use s-acetyl glutathione - that's how. ;)

This is a very stable form of glutathione as it is bound to an acetyl group.

You can feel the effects quite quickly with our Glutathione Plus Lozenges. Those are my favorite way to take the glutathione - better than the liposomal or capsules.

We use s-acetyl glutathione for all of our glutathione supplements.

Hi Dr. Lynch, I am very grateful for you and your products. I love learning about the body. I am reading Dirty Genes right now and joined your membership. I take glutathione plus probably 5 days a week. Sometimes I take a half sometimes a whole. My question is: Could the glutathione plus help with bladder incontinence? Since I started taking it my issues have cleared up. I am incredibly grateful! I am 58 years old and have been in the fitness industry for years. I have been struggling with incontinence on and off for years. It got worse after menopause. I take histamine nutrients when allergies act up. I also use the electrolyte drink. Another question is do you have to be careful combining your products? We order glutathione plus, joint nutrients, histamine nutrients, pre workout and electrolytes. As you can tell we really like your products. Thank you again! Jen Brown

Hi Jen -

Awesome!

I think your overall protocol of your choices is what supported your bladder health. I don't think it's just one of them.

Well done by the way! :)

I'll make a mental note about incontinence and glutathione. I didn't know that relationship.

You can combine products often yes but there's a method at times.

The ones that you are using you can mix all good.

Joint Nutrients works best upon waking and before bed - alone.

Glutathione Plus - can take anytime you want to support a healthy head except within 5 hours of bed don't take it as it may keep you awake.*

Electrolytes and Pre-Workout - work great together!

You have a great combination!

The Joint Nutrients is amazing.

The Pre-Workout Nutrients is pretty good. The sticky issue with this will be fixed next run. I am pulling the HydroPrime and putting in a different trademarked ingredient that's less finicky.

Thank you for your support!

Dr. Lynch

I have histamine issues, and your DAO supplements help me tremendously. When I try and add NAC or glutathione to my regiment, however, I get significant gall bladder/liver area pain. I understand that most people benefit from these supplements, can you help me understand possible reasons for why my body does not?

Hi Tammy -

I suspect it is the sulfur from this.

I recommend trying the Gallbladder Nutrients. Take 2 capsules before dinner.

In health,
Dr. Lynch

Hi Dr Lynch, Can you take the glutathione plus lozenges right after taking thyroid medication? Or do you suggest waiting an hour, like is recommended with most supplements. Thank you!

Hi Benita -

Yes you may. It's a lozenge so it's a different mechanism.

You may take it immediately upon waking as well.

Start with 1/2 lozenge at first to get your brain and body used to it.

Go up to 1 full lozenge ONLY if you need to.

You know you are taking too much glutathione if you get a headache. We don't want that.

A gentle clearing of brain fog is what we want. :)

I started taking Glutathione Plus and NAC to improve my egg quality and fertility. I am also taking Optimal Prenatals, choline, Probiota Woman, and Ashwagandha (for stress relief). I had a pregnancy with neural tube defects and have been unable to get pregnant for over a year since. I am starting IVF and am wondering which supplements I can continue taking during IVF that won't interfere with the hormones. Also which of these supplements can I continue taking during a pregnancy?

Hi Jackie -

You may use them all while working with IVF.

I would add DHA. We are currently sold out of Optimal Fish Oil. Use Life Extension's fish oil instead for now.

Talk with your partner about using Optimal Man. It's very important that the sperm is very healthy for healthy conception. Optimal Man supports healthy male fertility, mood and energy.*

Sending you positive thoughts!

Dr. Lynch My daughter is 15 years old and was recently diagnosed with severe anemia and low B12. She was dizzy all of the time, shortness of breath, chest pain, constant ice eating, throwing up on menstrual cycle. Ferritin was 8, serum 14 & iron saturation was 3%. B12 & Folic acid was 550.they sent her for infusions and She is currently taking Methyl B by Ortho, Forrochel Iron Chelate, smidge Magnesium, smidge beef liver ( all suggestion by DR). Since she is clearly not absorbing the Iron for some reason would the Glutathione plus help with that? We also have a blood work order to check her homocysteine levels. They are also running sleep test for apnea bc she is now suffering from lock jaw after being diagnosed and put on all this medication and they removed gluten from her diet. I'm desperate for help with her. They told us shes probably hypothyroid bc her TSH was high as well.

Hi Christine -

There is something underlying going on that needs to be found.

Adding supplements to this isn't the answer.

The answer is identifying what is going on and why she is feeling this way.

Ice eating is a sign that heavy metals may be present especially lead

Need to look for heavy metal exposures, gut infections, mold, excessive use of the phone or electronics vs sleeping to name a few.

I have tried 1/2 Glutathione Plus upon waking and feel improvement but not 100%. I took another 1/2 later in the day as my head felt heavy and slow. I immediately got a headache. Does that mean I can not take more than 1/2 Glutathion Plus a day? Is there a way to relieve the headache from too much Glutithione Plus? Thank you!

Hi Jennifer -

You're correct. Too much glutathione can contribute to headaches.

Often times, we want one thing to eliminate our symptoms.

The issue is it's usually more complex and more supplements are needed to effectively feel 100%.

I shared that I believe you should switch to Brain Nutrients now. Stop the Glutathione Plus Lozenge.

Start with 1/4 to 1/2 a Brain Nutrients in the morning.

If you feel 100% from this, awesome.

If you feel more improvement than the Glutathione Plus, but still not 100%, I suspect dehydration or slow phase 2 and 3 detoxification or all three - so liver/gallbaldder/bile needs help.

I' ve replied to your other question which will address the liver and gallbadder.

In terms of electrolytes, consider Optimal Electrolyte Unflavored. This is the one you want for now - until June 1. After June 1, all our electrolytes switch over to the latest formulation which is superior.

I don't know how to get rid of a glutathione headache currently. I suspect it's high glutamate doing it - so possibly magnesium, B6 or lithium orotate or all three.

Hi Dr Lynch I am salicylate sensitive and suffer side effect such as skin redness and itchiness when eating fruits and vegetables high in salicylates as well as spicy and herbal foods. Can optimal glutathione plus help my liver to detox and eliminate the salicylates from my body? If it is possible, how much dosage I need to take. What is the maximum dosage of optimal glutathione plus is safe to consume? According to functional medicine doctor, Calcium D Glucarate can help the liver to detox salicylates. So can it be taken together with Glutathione Plus? Thanks, Jeffrey.

Hi Jeffrey -

I'm seeing salicylate sensitivity increasing in awareness.

The best thing to do is understand first how the body clears salicylates.

Your doctor is correct with the Calcium-D-Glucarate recommendation.

Here's why:

"Salicylates are metabolized principally in the liver by the microsomal enzyme system and are predominately conjugated with glycine to form salicyluric acid. Salicylates are also conjugated with glucuronic acid to form salicylphenolic glucuronide and salicylacyl glucuronide."

  • Science Direct

The glucoronidation pathway by your liver is a major detoxification system. Calcium-D-Glucarate supports this pathway.

I'd also highly recommend Gallbladder Nutrients. Take 2 capsules before dinner. I recommend this over Liver Nutrients as the gallbladder and bile are often overlooked by everyone.

I recommend the Glutathione Plus Lozenge over the capsule. It's easier to adjust dosage allowing you to take less glutathione but more frequently if needed. You can take as much glutathione as you like as long as you feel you're benefiting. I usually take anywhere from 1 lozenge to 2 lozenges a day - spaced out over many hours.

Hi Dr Lynch Can I take Optimal Glutathione Plus with other supplements such as 1) Joint Health supplement containing Boswellia Serrate Extract, Mobilee Natural Chicken Comb Extract and Collavant n2 Native Collagen type II. 2) Digestive enzyme. 3) Vitamin C and 4) Omega 3. Thanks, Jeffrey

Hi Jeffrey -

You may yes.

I suggest this way of doing so:

Use the Glutathione Plus Lozenge upon waking up in the morning. Keep it on your bed stand and also one in your office to use throughout the day. You can take 1/2 to 1 full lozenge. I prefer 1/2 sometimes - depends on how I'm feeling.

Take the Joint Nutrients upon waking on an empty stomach - right after the Glutathione Plus Lozenge. Then take the second capsule of Joint Nutrients before bed. Some people like it this way. Other people like taking 2 capsules before bed and not taking one in the morning. Play with it.

Digestive Enzymes - take those with your larger meals. The capsules are 2x more potent than the Digestive Enzyme chewable.

Vitamin C Powder is the one I recommend as it supports hydration, too. The flavor is ok. We have a new one coming out that's better. If you want our Liposomal Vitamin C, that's a great one as well.

Omega 3 - we are sold out sadly for a bit. Supply chain was posing an issue. But we found an even cleaner fish oil which is crazy as our prior one was very clean. I recommend Life Extension as brand. Always get capsules of fish oil as the capsules protect the fish oil from oxygen. Oxygen damages fish oil.

I have heard that glutathione is helpful for Rosacea. Is this true and if so which one would you recommend?

Hi Robin -

I prefer the Glutathione Plus Lozenge - and take first thing upon waking up to start your day off right ;)

I'd also add 2 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients before dinner.

Then a capsule of Probiota HistaminX after dinner.

I'd also sip some apple cider vinegar in the morning with a touch of fresh squeezed lemon to support digestion.

You may also benefit from using Digestive Enzymes with each meal.

Is it suitable for 8 years old boy?

Hi Soonmi -

For kids, it's best to use the Glutathione Plus Lozenges:
https://www.seekinghealth.com/products/optimal-glutathione-plus-lozenges

The taste is excellent. Kids love it - as do adults :)

I highly recommend breaking the Glutathione Plus Lozenge into 1/4's and starting there. While the Glutathione Plus Lozenge has 25 mg of s-acetyl-glutathione per lozenge, it seems to perform really well.

It's best to use lower amounts of glutathione more frequently throughout the day, if needed, compared to higher amounts of glutathione once a day.
