D-Ribose is also found in our Optimal Electrolyte
D-Ribose is derived from corn starch. An extractive of corn known as "corn steep liquor" or "corn steep liquid" is used as part of the growth media, which a particular strain of bacteria are fed. The D-ribose is produced by these bacteria via fermentation. After the fermentation stage, the culture broth is filtered to remove remaining growth media and bacterial cells. The remaining solution is purified extensively using scientific methods including evaporation, crystallization and centrifugation. The very pure D-ribose recovered from this process is then dried for use in supplements and other food applications. Because of this extensive purification process, no corn allergens remain in the finished ingredient.
Individuals with extremely severe sensitivity, who have been advised to avoid dietary ingredients derived via fermentation on a growth media that includes corn products, may find that D-Ribose Powder is not a good option for them. For these types of concerns, we recommend that you consult with your healthcare professional to help you determine whether D-Ribose Powder is suitable for you.*
Due to the processes used to manufacture the finished ingredients, the D-Ribose is considered non-allergenic.
