Digestive Enzymes Chewable Dr. Lynch product Q&AUpdated 7 hours ago

QuestionAnswer
How would I know if I need histamine digest verses digestive enzymes for a leaky gut? Thank you!

Hi Bob -

We are currently working on a How to Use guide for Histamine Digest.

In the meantime, people with leaky gut often have high histamine.

Consider the Gut Health Bundle as you'll save 20% plus get the free Histamine Workbook which is very helpful.
https://www.seekinghealth.com/products/gut-health-bundle

Consider:

  • Gut Nutrients Powder: 1 scoop in the morning mixed in a glass of filtered water. Sip slowly over 5 - 10 minutes. Ideally repeat again in the afternoon between lunch and dinner - best away from food.
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule upon waking (this is the latest research - best time to take it)
  • Bile Nutrients: 2 capsules before dinner for the first few days to see how you respond. Then if needed, up to 4 capsules before dinner
  • Digestive Enzymes: I prefer the capsules - they are more potent than the chewables - by 2x.
  • Histamine Digest: see how you do without it. You can always add it in. The above support is already quite good.
  • chew your food very well.
  • limit drinking during meals

Ok, last question! Thank you! With the products you recommended for chronic painful bloating .. are probiotics necessary? Should I be taking those, too? Or will they not be helpful until I fix the issue? Thank you so much. Meghan
I do not recommend adding in probiotics until a week or two after starting the other products.

Probiotics themselves can increase bloating as they remodel the gut.

I do believe I did recommend Saccharomyces Boulardii which is a probiotic.

After 2-4 weeks of using the other supplements, consider adding in ProBiota HistaminX. Be mindful that introducing probiotics can definitely lead to more gas and bloating which is why we need to get you supported with the other supplements first.

Thank you for answering! Do you think juicing celery first thing in the morning will be helpful along with your recommendations? I forgot to mention I have a slightly large liver which I think is also a problem with my bloating Thank you! Meghan
I'd consider sipping apple cider vinegar and fresh squeezed lemon juice in warm filtered water first thing in the morning.

This stimulates stomach acid secretions.

The supplements I mentioned earlier will support a healthy liver.

Additionally, knowing this, I'd add in Liver Nutrients and take 1 capsule after dinner.

I would not use the celery.

Hi dr. Lynch! I recently took the quiz to see which products I need best. I have extreme painful bloating looking six months pregnant (without being pregnant) all day every day. No matter what I eat. Healthy or not. I’ve always had gut/bloating issues but seem to resolve by the morning after using the bathroom. Now over the last few years it has not gone away and has gotten chronically worse to every day all day. I am 31 years old. Do you have any recommendations to ease this pain? Thank you! Meghan
I suspect you have SIBO along with digestive weakness which often go together.

Consider:

  • Digestive Enzymes: 2 capsules with each meal (they are more potent than the chewable)
  • Gallbladder Nutrients: 4 capsules before dinner
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 2 servings a day with one serving upon waking
  • Saccharomyces Boulardii: 2 capsules after dinner
  • limit carbohydrates and alcohol
  • Ox Bile: 1 capsule right before bed

Keep me posted. You should experience improvements within a few days.

Hi! I was wondering if the digestive enzymes chewable are compliant for those with MCAS and histamine intolerance. I’m preoccupied by the rasberry juice and the xylitol in the ingredients… Use the Digestive Enzymes in capsule form.

That way there is no flavor or xylitol.

Those are fine for MCAS as well but the capsules are 2x as potent as the chewables.

I'd also look into the Histamine Digest and Gallbladder Nutrients and ProBiota HistaminX.

What country are the components and the final product made in

We get the enzymes from a supplier in the USA and finished product is made and bottled in the USA.

We source our ingredients from all over the world. We do third party testing on all raw materials including packaging and again on final product before releasing to make sure purity and label claim is met.

I took the Precision Analytical's Dutch Test and it indicated I am slightly deficient in Biotin and on the high end of the range for Indican (gut putrefaction). I feel pins and needles on my upper right quadrant, gassy, bloated, and headaches, anxiety, and major brain fog. Im heterozygous for MTHFR and COMT (methylation gives me anxiety). I also have very high total DHEA Production. Will this help the Indican at least? I heard leaky gut is tricky so I have no idea where to start.
I hear you.

Consider:

  • Gallbladder Nutrients: take 4 capsules before dinner
  • Saccharomyces Boulardii: 1 capsule after dinner and do this until the bottle is gone then stop.
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Fish Oil: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Optimal Electrolyte: 1 to 2 servings a day
  • Digestive Enzymes: 2 capsules with each meal

Start here.

Follow up in a month.

Then, I think you may want to add in:

  • Glutathione Plus Lozenges: 1/2 a lozenge upon waking in the morning
  • Serotonin Nutrients: 1 capsule with breakfast

I have been taking the digestive enzymes chewable for a month now. I am gluten-free, lactose intolerant and have had stomach issues most of my life. What am I to expect taking these? My BM’s smell bad, I have bad gas and have started having runny stools. I have cramping after eating and my bloating has not improved. I suspect SIBO. Do I continue or are those negative effects. It does sound like you may have SIBO. If this is the case then what you are experiencing may be die-off symptoms.

However, the chewable version does contain xylitol and monk fruit which may exacerbate SIBO in some people.

I suggest you switch to the Digestive Enzymes capsules instead.

Let us know how you go.

Hi! I’m wondering if using these digestive enzymes will impact the bodies natural production of enzymes?
These assist your body in digesting food.

If one needs digestive enzymes, it is because their own production of digestive enzymes are less than optimal.

By supplementing with Digestive Enzymes, you're supporting healthy digestion.*

There is no long term negative from using digestive enzymes or targeted nutrients like glutathione.

When you use them, your body does not need to produce them on their own so production may reduce.

Once you stop them, the body senses there is a need to produce more so it will - if it has the ability to do so.

Dr Lynch my 12 year old has struggled off and on with acid reflux for years and now he has gastritis. Years ago I cut out carbs as much as possible - we stay away from junk food, crackers, lots of bread etc - we are still struggling. I currently have him on your fish oil, smidge magnesium, and we do optimal electrolyte here and there. Would these digestive enzymes help his reflux and gastritis or what would be your recommendation/which products? Thanks so much!
I suggest a few things here.
  • Go 100% gluten free. Gluten is not good for so many reasons. It's easy to go gluten-free now.
  • Digestive Enzymes: use the capsule version as it is more potent than the chewables. Take 1 capsule with meals.
  • Gut Nutrients: 3 capsules upon waking in the morning and 3 capsules before bed to support a healthy stomach and gut lining.*
  • ProBiota HistaminX: 1 capsule after dinner
  • Histamine Digest: 1 capsule with meals

This should help a ton.

In health,

Hello Dr.Lynch, These chewables are burning my tongue and making it difficult to eat any food after. I don't think I can tolerate this burnt sensation on my tongue for long. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and am dealing with pain every single day. I read about "Wobenzym N Joint Health" elsewhere. Do you suggest this or anything else for RA pains ? Regards, The Digestive Enzymes capsules are more potent - 2x the potency of the chewable ones. I recommend switching to the capsule version. Ask my team to switch it out for you - no cost.

I designed Joint Nutrients to support healthy joints for my wife who has struggled with significant joint pain since she was 16 years old.*

I highly recommend you consider:

  • Digestive Enzymes: capsules and stop the chewables
  • Joint Nutrients: 1 capsule before bed away from food with a glass of filtered water and 1 capsule upon waking in the morning with a glass of water. You may need a bite of food if you feel the ginger in your stomach a bit too strongly. You may want to do 2 capsules the first evening before bed and 2 capsules upon waking the next morning to get significant healthy support of your joints. Then back down to 1 capsule twice daily - away from food.
  • go gluten-free 100%
  • go cow dairy-free 100%
  • try goat dairy products
  • stop all tomato family: eggplants, potato, etc

Will this be the right product for a 14 yr old who has IBS and EoE? We are currently eliminating gluten and dairy, but when we are back putting back gluten and dairy (not too long from now), will this help with gluten sensitivity and lactose intolerant?
Often times people who are intolerant to dairy and gluten should not go back to them.

For example, I am intolerant to both and I cannot go back without struggling with symptoms.

I recommend not reintroducing these foods if improvement was experienced.

What I do recommend is switching to a different type of dairy like goat. Goat cheese, goat milk, goat yogurt are great.

I also recommend just staying gluten-free.

EoE I recommend Histamine Digest taken with meals - or one before bed.

ProBiota HistaminX - take 1 capsule after dinner.

For the digestive enzymes, you can use the Digestive Enzyme Chewable but the Digestive Enzyme capsule is 2x potent so I recommend the capsule version of Digestive Enzymes.

I'd start there.

Does this contain DAO?

It does not.

Histamine Digest contains DAO.

It's not possible to put DAO into a chewable. It's very fussy and requires a lot of stability.

Is this product safe for those with dairy allergies?

My son has low fecal elastase and has been very slow to gain weight (he’s now 10 yrs old and in the 20th percentile-64lbs). Could these help him to gain weight? Is there a supplement that you recommend to improve his fecal elastase level? Weight gain requires healthy nutrient absorption.

I would indeed consider Digestive Enzymes Chewable with each meal.

I would also consider making him a goat whey protein smoothie in the morning with frozen organic blueberries and some honey.

Make sure he uses the Digestive Enzymes Chewable when he has protein.

He must eat more meat, eggs and less carbs.

To improve fecal elastase, I would make sure he is eating when he is eating.

Consider having him helping you in the kitchen cooking, preparing foods, setting the table.

40% of digestion is the pre-digestion phase so get him involved in that.

Also, eat together at the table. See how many bites you have to take to turn each bite into essentially water. Make it a game.

Eat more slowly, chew very well and do not drink cold things during meals. Consider room temperature filtered water.

Eliminate cold cereal breakfasts and carb based breakfasts. Those need to go away. Eggs, protein based smoothies. Make them taste really good :) You can add a fair bit of honey if needed.

Can kids 10 and older take this?
Yes ;)

Kids 4 and up may use Digestive Enzymes chewable.

Thankfully it also has a nice taste to it!

We also have a Kids Multivitamin Chewable which tastes fantastic and an Iron Chewable which is also tasty.

Our Immune Intensive is a liquid that tastes like berries as it has elderberry in it. Use this only when you need high level immune support as it is designed for those moments - not daily use.

Would a smaller portion of one be suitable for a 34 pound nearly 3 year old?
Yes, you may use 1/2 a chewable for them.

Note that we also have a Kids Multivitamin Chewable for kids 1 and up.

I'd start with 1/2 a chewable of this as well with their breakfast.

Is this what I take if I don’t have a gallbladder? You may use this if you don't have a gallbladder.

What I also recommend in addition is Gallbladder Nutrients.

The digestive enzymes support healthy digestion of fats, protein and carbohydrates.

The Gallbladder Nutrients support healthy bile production and bile flow. You would take 2 of these before dinner and see how you do. You should notice healthy bowel movements that are easy to pass without being too easy ;)

If you need more support for a healthy formed bowel movement, you would use Gallbladder Nutrients this way: 2 capsules before lunch along with 2 capsules before dinner.

Some days you eat more than others and need more support and other days less.

On days you need more support, combine the Digestive Enzymes with the 2 x 2 capsules of Gallbladder Nutrients.

On days you need less support, possibly just use the Digestive Enzymes.

If you notice the second day your bowel movements are harder to pass or see fat/oil in the toilet still, use the Gallbladder Nutrients.
